Very nice indeed but...when 2 vocalists or 2 instrumentalists perform in unison, they should agree on who should be slightly dominant. In this case the voices contest each other (not intentionally) but by equal individuality of musical character. Possibly, it is the fault of the engineers. It would be obvious to any musician/engineer that they should have used a double ribbon microphone on Ms. Crebassa or a condenser with a softer vacuum tube.
@@dennisdougherty7538 I don't hear it (the voices contesting each other) and am unsure what you mean by this. Also I don't support your contention that an agreement should be reached who should be slightly dominant. Why? Of course the part/singer who starts grabs the ear first and serves as the vocal point of reference for the duet, but not due to dominance rather to place of origin. I think this performance works beautifully, no need for either to dominate, not even slightly. I find no tension or contest here as you claim, rather a smooth and balanced complimentarity.
Самое любимое исполнение этой баркароллы! Певицы такие красивые, а в их голосах и исполнении столько нежности! Обожаю, всегда её переслушиваю в романтичном настроении
the engineering that went into the placing of the microphones to keep the voices balanced alone in this performance is incredible... im sure both women went through crazy extents to not overpower eacthoer.. but the microphone setup clearly indicates they spent A LOT of time perfecting this and it shows in the performance. i have never in my life hear such a perfect harmony of voices... truly incredible. it truly sounds as if these two women are trying to convince the other that they have the most beautiful voice in the world and they dont believe it so they must compare.. even though each of them is complimenting the other in the best way they possibly could imagine.. only making each of them sound even more angelic.. time for me to learn french..
Seems like a fairly standard mic setup for classical vocals. A spaced pair with a centre anchor. I'm not sure why the singer on the right has two sets of pairs, either wanting to play with difference of tone between the Neumanns and the Schoeps, or they have slightly different polar patterns and will adjust later to taste; either way, this format is seen extensively - especially in these Warner Classics setups!
No doubt one of the most beautiful interpretations of this amazing piece of Offenbach I have ever listened to. Dear Fatma Said and Marianne Crebassa, you are absolutely splendid, thank you so much for this awesome gift 💖
With Marianne Crebassa you just know its going to be superb .. and it was.. magnificently so! Not to say Fatima was any the less in this duet, she too was excellent! A thoroughly enjoyable performance 🏆👍👏👏
What the what?! What did I just listen to?! Pure perfection! Both sounded like what they were doing was effortless. As beautiful as everything was, the part in unison was so impressive. They are very well in tune with each other. What a lovely blend in ... everything. Just wow.

I was ill and utterly depressed, you made me forgot all. I so thank you. Regards from frozen Patagonia, Argentina.
Sometimes you see a performer who's doing fine but you sense that they're there because that's the job....when you watch these two you sense their love of the music.
The music, a wind blowing softly swaying tenderly caressing spring leaves among goddesses voices lighting harmoniously floating arias of hummingbirds effortlessly. 💞❤
The actual context from the opera is that the song is being song by gondoliers in Venice. If you've seen them, they propel the craft with a stern mounted oar slowly swinging left to right, right to left, like a large sinuous fish.
I wish there were a scientific formula that explains to the most simple minded of us why certain pieces of music are so sublime and make such an impression on our brains.
OMG YESSSS there is though -- frisson is a musical high. It triggers receptors to release absurd amounts of dopamine that overpower and overwhelm us when we are feeling blue or stressed especially. It's.. I know it's hard to remember in the moment, because I too rarely remember.. but next time you're feeling extra stressed or deeply concerned or are in mourning over something, play some of these sublime classics sung by supreme and excellent musicians all working in unison to deliver a perfect, tuned, symphonically peerrrrrfect piece like this one. I dare anyone not to agree with me -- it's the highest, purest high without any come down or negative effects one can experience. I'd put it juuust past an orgasm, if only because an orgasm has more come down and is less clear-headed (for me at least) than frisson. Okay, okay, maybe put them together if you can handle it.. but I digress lol. Frisson. It's the best high I've ever experienced. Once, as a high tenor in college, I got to perform a beautiful piece with another choir, and we had 300+ total voices on stage together. We were both excellent, highly regarded touring choirs. When I say I've never felt more chills, more 'whoosh' of what I can only describe as pure spiritual fire, I... I still can't describe it without being reminded that we are NOT alone on this planet. Our souls live on. And I believe those souls that are disembodied ADORE when a living human, especially a living relative, experiences frisson. It could solve world peace, poverty, you name it. I love music so much. Thank you for reminding me!
