2018 F-150 Tailgate handle stuck/binding fix

This is how i fixed my 2018 F-150 tailgate handle staying stuck open. I didn't find this specific fix anywhere else I looked. I've been helped so much by youtube videos, thought i'd give one back. Hopefully it helps someone.

Didn’t fix mine either. Handle will not return under its own weight. It’s funny ( not really) all the little things Ford is extremely cheap on. This I one of them. We should have a class action on lug nuts alone. Crazy.

Yeah, maybe try looking at some of the other fixes, I tried all the other ones first and this one fixed mine, not a great fix it’s not perfect but it’s better. If you find the smoking gun I’d love to know.

How do I remove the cover ? I removed the bolts just don't want to muck up the cover trying to remove it.

@@maryannperez8064 it should just pop off, you may need to pry it a little with a flathead screwdriver.
