  • Third generation Renault Megane is on the market since 2008, and recently it has been given its second facelift. Is it enough to keep up with the C-segment competitors?

    Marek, this car is not bad. I have grandtour version with 1.5 dci 110 engine. First of all, it is very reliable car! The Grandtour version has longer wheele base and more legroom. Also, meg 3 without touch screen has additional cup holder near the gearbox stick, and big "hole" beyond front armrest in which I put some big bottles when we are traveling on long distance's. Long distance journeys are very comfy in this car, and car is very quiet at cruising speed, for example 140 km/h. I just want to say that sound insulation is not special, but not bad at all, diesel engine for example is excellent insulted, road and wind noise are more present in the cabin but overall it is class average. Furthermore, average fuel economy of 1.5 dci is from 5.0 to 6.5 lit per 100 km. This car, from my point of view is good value for money, especially in limited edition equipment version (2016).

      It may be down to the deal you got for it. This particular car was insanely expensive for what it offered.

      I don't feel bad. My car is grandtour version 1.5 dci 110 with manual gearbox 6 speed. For 17.5 k euro I got excellent equipment for example: hands free card, rear parkin sensors, dual climate control, cruise control, speed limiter, tinted back windows, 16" alloy wheels, ful electrification of windows and mirrors, remote control radio with aux, usb, Bluetooth, of course full safety equipment and 5 year/100.000 km warranty and free maintenance. Metallic paint included.

      Having the same model as you (dci) I can tell that I love it. I'm using it on the high-speed roads and my average consumption is 5L/100km. Essentially nothing!
      The sound isolation is poor. I don't think it is so bad though.
      The air-condition is loud but extremely fast. I'm living in Sweden and I appreciate how warm the car gets in 3 min time.
      What I like the most is the steering and the stability on the road. Very nice and enjoyable to drive.

    Drive better and you wi'll be easily under 7 l/100Km. By the way, you need to make more than a 25 Km to stabilise the fuel consumption.

    Good vids, but why didnt u mention something about the Bose audio??

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because I don't know anything about car stereos. I have a Bose stereo in my Mazda, but I can't say how it compares to what Renault put in the Megane.

      I honestly wish this was a better car, but it's not. The new Megane is much better though. th-cam.com/video/IbF3dFC3tyA/w-d-xo.html

      no, :) he just keeps bashing facts he doesnt like even if they have no connection to reality... i stopped watching when he said that "he wonders what will happen with the water and glass roof :) i had same electro-panoramic glass roof in Secnic2, works like a charm if you maintain it (once a year cleanup along with small service is enough). Scenic was 10yrs old when i sold it and it had 270.000km , never a single drop of water passed through...

      It should be realistic. if its not good, as an interviewer you also have to say its not good.

    +creosl I don't like this Renault. I was very pleased with the Captur.

    • @stamenkd1
      @stamenkd1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Marek Drives From what I've read the MK3 Megane is a much better drive than the Captur, same size boot (if you don't sacrifice back space) with better quality materials. You really preferred the Captur?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +stamenkd1 I find Captur funky, and Megane bland. Megane (even Mk4) has terrible legroom, so no sacrifice there. Megane may have a better ride, but not good enough to turn me away from the Captur (if I had to choose between these two).

    • @dejanstamenkovic8777
      @dejanstamenkovic8777 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Marek. The Captur's back seat pocket puts me off as kids would have a field day playing with that! For a family of 4 where compact size and large boot is important for weekend trips, what would you recommend? The 2008?

      +anas boulkhalil obviously, i mean, how dump is the demonstration of enlarging the trunk? Well obviously you have to put the forward seat a little bit forward and then you can put it back again. stupid demonstration.

    Renault's have never been for me. Never look or drive modern, and they are also a nightmare to work on as mechanic. Poor show from Renault over and over again. Improving recently with the new Clio.

    • @AleksanderWilkowski

      Never look modern? What are you talking about? Do you remember Laguna I? That was absolutely the best looking car in a D class in 90's. The same in Renault Megane Coupe. Renault Avantime is out of any comment - today it would be the bestseller as a crossover but then it was too modern.
