- @oldguyandabike has no rack mounts on his drop bar bike conversion for bikepacking and that made him sad. But Robert Axle Project and Old Man Mountain bike racks has a solution that just might change all that!
Racks are back in style!

As an OLDER guy with a (possibly) bike addiction, I can't believe I'm just now finding your channel. Excellent video and I couldn't hit that subscribe button fast enough. Now I'll be going through the rest of your content. While the wife and I mostly "tour" with panniers on tourers on pavement, we have also done some mountain bike touring on gravel/single track in NZealand and I gotta get a thru-axle and the "ManyThing" cages for the front squish mountain bike!
Very cool. Welcome!

they make traile adaptors too thats what I use , can haul more the 500lbs of wood easier than u would think too
Really? I did not know that. Great tip. I need to adapt our dog trailer to my gravel bike.

Good information, terrible tripod.
@@autumngreenleaf3390 hah! Noted.

It will be interesting to see how those axel adaptors work when you have to fix a flat or otherwise take a wheel off. Do you have to take the entire rack off?
@@1947wdx you would have to remove the axle attachment part and support the rack in the process.
gg
@@oldguyandabike Yeah, that's what I was thinking. That might be a good thing for you to test and show in your review video when you make it. (How much of a hassle is it?) I like the concept and I'm glad racks and panniers are (somewhat) coming back into style. I have never liked the huge seat bag concept for the very reasons you bring up in this video. (High center of gravity, swaying weight that can affect handling etc...)
@@1947wdx I will. I already knew that going in, but it is a means to an end, if you know what I'm saying.
A little insight into video production: I had originally intended to talk about the install and show the finished products in place, but I found, with only a day left before it was 'go' time for a video release, that I had the wrong rear axle kit.
Oops!
So I had to change things a bit and do more of an intro/reason for being deal.
But yeah, I think that it solves more issues than it creates, but we shall see as I get it all on there and use it.
Thanks for the comments.

@@oldguyandabike We made a quick video to show this. Like you said you don't need to take the rack off the bike, just off the axle. th-cam.com/video/drWfljQkWqQ/w-d-xo.html
