- Following the announcement that the San Diego Clippers would become the Los Angeles Clippers, News 8 checked in with folks at the San Diego Sports Arena to get reactions to the news. Reporter Hal Clement also featured a look back at other San Diego professional basketball teams including the Rockets (who now reside in Houston), the Conquistadors - also known as The Qs - and the Sails who lasted a whopping three games. www.cbs8.com/article/news/loc...

The editing was great for this segment... Sterling dropping his brief case and papers, then Sterling saying the team will stay in San Diego--followed immediately by "And now they're going to leave."

Weird that letter (Donald Sterling's) Hal Clement read sounds very similar to what Dean Spanos wrote two years ago about relocating the Chargers here in Los Angeles...
It does sound similar but Spanos is far worse considering the chargers where in San Diego for over 50 years compared to 6 (more years were spent in Buffalo).

True, the Conquistadors were an ABA team, in existence from 1972-75. They changed their name to the Sails in 1975, but unfortunately they went out of business a few weeks into the 1975-76 season.

The Clippers should have remained in San Diego, with the city currently having a modern state-of-the-art arena. A second team in Los Angeles should be named after something truly representing Los Angeles.
Laker fans will never accept another basketball team in Los Angeles. Just take a look at the clippers right now with their first ever western conference finals, they are actually cheering for the opposing team. That’s just how bad it is for an organization like the clippers.
I saw Ratt and Ozzy in March of '84 at the Sports Arena, 13 years old and first rock concert, probably right around this time..
I was so happy when the NBA took the team from Sterling but, it was 35 years too late.

@@carlosmorales1018 Ballmer is committed to keeping the clippers in Los Angeles, particularly Inglewood but we have seen numerous reports and even threats by Laker fans for citizens to not support that other team. It makes sense for them to return to San Diego.

It would've been nice if the Clippers could of stayed in San Diego, but the fans just didn't go to the games. When you're having multiple home games, where attendance is under 1,000, there's not much the owner can do, but move.

Clippers and chargers need to go back to San Diego. The NFL needs to change the rule where owners can own another sports team. I’ll bet the clippers would’ve been in San Diego a lot longer if they were under the ownership of Spanos.
