      Easy, come out and make a fool of himself. Kind of like Tom Morello does on every song he joins in on that's not his. No one wants to hear string scratching on "my guitar gently weeps".

      K Ruth that's hilarious because it's true XD. There's a Prog Rock cover band here named Mr. Nice Guy, and they usually have at least 7 or 8 musicians on the stage at any given moment, but they also have 3 or 4 more waiting in the wings until their instrument is needed for the next song(s). I think they have 7 of them onstage for Roundabout.

In fact, it's interesting to see Geddy Lee fill the late, great Chris Squire's shoes here, as Geddy's own bandmate, Neil Peart, has in the past expressed his admiration of the equally-great Bill Bruford. Well, I haven’t payed attention to yes for about 40 years and was STUNNED by how great Jon sang. Most vocalists lose quite a bit of their vocal range, and vibrato because they just don’t have the strength of their youth or partied too much. Mr Anderson has not lost anything and his pitch was fairly good live. AMAZING and I’m so happy to see YES is still great.

      @Frodinir 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love how everyone claims these performances dont have all kinds of auto tune and post production magic on them. It's not like its a bad thing, anyways, music would sound terrible without it. However, the pitch correct speed is obviously way too fast, it sounds robotic as heck. Jon Anderson does not sound like a robot, thats a good thing.@winomagnet

    • @Frodinir
      @Frodinir 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      here and a performance of close to the edge somewhere else on youtube, its not as noticable in this one except for a couple of sharp jumps between noes but in the close to the edge one it was REALLY bad

    • @Frodinir
      @Frodinir 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @winomagnet 2:32 on "charge the view" you can hear some jumps, and its really obvious a few seconds later when he says "atmosphere" when it instantaneously hops between two notes on the last syllable. Another quick jump at 4:17, and other than that it mostly can be heard in the overall robotic sound of his voice here. If this is a post production version like you said then that explains it already. I believe the close to the edge performance i found (it was old, never said it was recent) also was post production with much heavier autotune. I think the only reason its so audible is because of Anderson's unique voice. It's kinda breathy so there's much more artifacting from the autotune, its harder to hear autotune with singers with crisper voices.

    • @Frodinir
      @Frodinir 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @winomagnet I am very much a new Yes fan, but I know what pitch correction sounds like. I dabble with music production and have used Auto-Tune before. I never said he needed Auto-Tune, just that it's being used. Whether it was the choice of Anderson himself or was the choice of the engineer/s running the audio, its here. While I haven't even been alive anywhere close to as long as Yes have been playing, I'm pretty sure Anderson can't instantaneously switch between two distinct notes on a single syllable of a word, which is present. I am not trying to insult Yes or Anderson, I was literally only stating that Auto-Tune or some other form of pitch correction is being used. That's it. If you don't agree with me, that's fine, I'm done arguing over something this stupid.

      Saw Anderson recently in a smaller intimate venue doing this song with Jon Luc Ponty, he can still belt it.

    Only ONE man on this planet could ever take over for our late, beloved Chris Squire, and that is Mr. Geddy Lee!

    I'm glad I got to see Chris Squire twice before he died.
    But if Yes was to tour with Geddy, I would not be complaining.

      I bumped into him and his wife in London in Tottenham Court Road at the Mean Fiddler club when he was there to see GPS (with Guthrie Govan, Payne from Asia and Ryo from Spock's Beard) when they supported Y&T. Nobody recognised him as he walked out so I caught up with him and got a picture with him. His hands were massive.
      The club has since been demolished to make way for the expansion of Tottenham Court Road tube station. Saw loads of good bands there in the early 2000s.

    No one but Geddy could fill those large shoes.
    Fabulous performance!
    70 years old and the guys in YES are still in top form.
    Thanks for posting!

      BHAKTI BROPHY the respect Geddy Lee has for Yes is amazing. He was singing along and pretending to play the piano along to the riffs. This was awesome

      Actually, Squire didn't play with an actual pick. Most of the time he used the British equivalent coin to the American quarter. That's how he got such "bite" out of his Rickenbacker bass - metal hitting metal.
