    I hope you guys like this progression session, I am so happy to finally make some progress at this park. I got stuck on the green line for what felt like too long and I was losing my motivation, I am so happy I got to step it up and unlock a new line for more fun here!

      Kyle, I appreciate your teaching methods that step by step, helped to build up April's confidence. April, you're gut-tie and tenacious. Kudos for conquering the two challenges. This lesson was fun to watch, much like piecing together a puzzle.

    Zero people at the park = bonus. Great facility with time to session, incredible natural talent on 2 wheels, pro coach who is dedicated and patient, and just happens to be one of the most skilled bike handlers of the day. Love to see the success.

    I can't even bunny hop, so I'm awed by April's progress. Kyle, though, makes everything look easy - like when he went to Berm Peak and rode the features in reverse.

    I totally screamed yes! When you got the wall ride and scared my dogs lol! This was an awesome video. So relatable I can feel my fears when you’re talking about being scared. So rad you got through it, congratulations!

  • @Todd66
    @Todd66 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Nice!! Watching her progress on that feature is really cool. Kyle is SO good at breaking it down and pointing out what is happening and what you want to happen. Great coaching. That coaching ability is what really hooked me on this channel. April did fantastic on that wall. I love her helmet.
    Great video you two!!! I feel like things are getting back to where they should be…big sigh of relief and satisfaction!!!!
    I hope you two have a great rest of the weekend.

      Thanks Ryan! You show up in the background for a second. I had filmed one clip of you hitting the wall and had it in the video, but it eventually got trimmed out when we were making the video shorter. We had to cut about 5 min out!

    • @theryanoutdoors
      @theryanoutdoors 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@AprilRideMTB no problem! The video was about April’s progression so it’s totally fine. I loved the part where the video was side by side and one was Kyle looking up on the wall and one was kyle looking down, it really painted a good picture of how much where you look changes where you go!

  • @Tactician666

    This is a masterclass in how to present information so we mere mortals can understand it. The side-by-side shots of Kyle riding the wall whilst looking in different directions makes it crystal clear what happens when you're looking the wrong way. I don't have any wall-rides locally, so this isn't something for me to worry about at the moment, but I'm still using Kyle's advice whilst I'm trying to learn how to jump without busting my collarbone, and after ages struggling to pump, it was Kyle's step-by-step advice which enabled me to crack it in one quick session.
    It's a shame that April is obviously quite talented, because she picks up on each skill quicker than I would. I'd prefer slower, dumbed-down versions of these tutorials on jumping, cornering, drops etc, but Kyle's still the best tutor on TH-cam.

      Thank you! Actually this was an impromptu video. I had rode that morning and came home bummed because I was stuck at the wall and Kyle said he would help me later that day and it turned into a progression session video. Luckily for the video I struggled, because sometimes I might get a feature too quickly and it isn’t enough for a video.

    Wow look at you guys. Within 24 hours you are already pushing 300 comments. Glad so many others are finding out about what the rest of us have been enjoying for a while now. Great job April! I would totally be in the same shoes you were on that wall ride. I crashed on the leftward gap on gap off wall ride on the jump line at the Railyard bike park just east of Bentonville, maybe you've been there. But you rocked that whole blue line. Maybe some day I'll get out there and try that park. That line you rode looks sick. I can't believe they call that a blue line. It looks very black to me! Kyle great coaching and insights as usual. So amazing how we see how the body follows the eyes. Great side by side demo of that. Maybe the best I've seen yet on that particular topic.

    • @AprilRideMTB
      @AprilRideMTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much Jeff! Yes we did go to the railyard one morning one day this year, it was a cool park! I would say that the expert line there is more similar in skill level to our blue line. Hope this will help you with wall rides, we have another video that might help too since it does not have a gap on. th-cam.com/video/gVvJi68beIQ/w-d-xo.html

    April you are KILLING IT!!!! So strange how much harder it can be to do a wall ride one side to the other isn't it? I feel like turning right/ right wall rides are so much easier for me as well, but left just doesn't compute in my brain for some reason lol

    • @AprilRideMTB
      @AprilRideMTB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! I don't know what it was about it, but it was harder than I thought it would be haha
      I was still struggling with the wood lip jumps too, that is also something I am trying to figure why it's so hard for me. I am thinking that the sound throws off my timing and maybe it feels stiffer than dirt? But it took me 2 hours to get through the line (that's why I cased so much at the end haha). It took so long, because I kept getting wild on the wood jumps! I need to dial them in more next year.
