    The analysis, was really accessible and easy to take in. Really appreciate that. Rare to explain things without over explaining or just not making sense. You communicate as well as you express yourself on the kit. Well done, man.

    This is a wild feat. I don't think most people coming across this realise the level of intellect, difficulty and musicality this operates on. Great job, Jacob.

    Awesome. What made you decide to write it out in 4? I've always felt this tune in 3 (or 6).

    • @JacobWutzke
      @JacobWutzke  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question. I also hear the tune in 3 overall, but a lot of what Marcus plays here only really makes sense to my ears in 4. For example, all of the quintuplet stuff would be really hard to feel if you were thinking in 3/4 -- five notes over the bar? It's also a little more useful to me conceptualizing of this in 4/4. I can apply it more easily to other contexts!

  • @growondrums43

    Two questions:
    1. how did you transcribe it? Just by listening and slowing down the speed? And then how did you bring it to paper? With a program?
    2. where can I find the pdf? Want to learn that solo too!
    Amazing!

    • @JacobWutzke
      @JacobWutzke  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you! In general, I transcribe by listening to it a lot. I generally input it directly into Sibelius (not really writing by hand these days), and I do it all at full speed unless I'm trying to hear something specific (like, how many notes are in this roll, or something). As far as practicing it, I'm pretty loose about it! I try to let myself get sidetracked and explore phrases as they come up. If I end up working on it for weeks, that's cool!
      Send me an email at jacobwutzke@yahoo.ca and I'll get you the transcription.
