As the Wall of Guitars hits. Got to see Slowdive open for Ride in The 90’s. One of the most emotional and LOUD experiences of my musical life.

If you enjoyed this you should definitely check out Ride’s Vapour Trail - one of the most iconic shoegaze tracks. That album (Nowhere) is legendary in that genre.

Shoegaze -- textured feedback ambiance. I never heard of this band, but this song was good. Thanks for the video! Jesus and Mary Chain originated the genre back in 85 with their first album only: "Psychocandy." But they stil make great music to this day. It's just not all shoegaze. They created the genre and moved on. Check out their "You Trip Me Up" for a good example of their screeching feedback. Careful with the headphones though. It may be ear-splitting. Scottish band.

Kevin Shields will tell you he looked up to Australian guitarist Roland S Howard of Birthday Party in 1981 armed only with a jaguar, a fender twin with one effect pedal played as Kevin said like nothing he'd ever seen or heard then and since and was the first guitarist he'd seen where he simply couldnt work out what was going on. JAMC's Reid Bros and Bobby Gillespie at the time said Roland was the guitar hero they needed when there was none to be found and the Mary Chain and MVB would adopt Roland's chaotic controlled feedback. Now Slowdive's Neil Halstead has stated they're ardent fans of Robert Smith's The Cure, Robin Guthrie's guitars in Cocteau Twins and of course, Souxsie and The Banshees whose song Slowdive gave the band its name. Hence Slowdive, Lush are examples of the Dream Pop variant of shoegaze and MVB, Ride, early Catherine Wheel are examples of more the heavier rock variants of shoegaze. Some like both, most prefer dream unless you're a devoted MBV fan. Me, im a gen x/ boomer cusp so i stick with the og's...Rob Smith, Roland Howard, John McGeoch,Robin Guthrie and their respective bands although i do like the shoegaze era and the current nu gaze bands from u.s

Please do a reaction to Mother Love Bone’s song, “Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns”. The vocals of Andrew Wood….has been copied by so many other artists! With only one week away from a break out tour & massive contract Andrew died. Please look into this piece of music. ❤

Pretty repetitive. A band called Strawbs and their song called Lemon Pie is a great introduction ✨️🎶✨️

... Yes very nice music (all my 90th), but it's not "ambient" (not a nice word, it's for hotel bars ^^)), it's "Brit Indy Shoegaze" ... With some times a little "bla bla bla" before or behind ...
The most well known band in the genre was "My Bloody Valentine" (a bit more agressive and dissonnant, check out their song "Only Shallow", what a punch in your face), but my fav band in the genre was/is "Lush" with 3 LPs (after a long stop, Miki Berenyi, the lead vocal/rythme guitar front woman had formed a new band, "Piroshka", (+ 3 new members from 3 different bands from the same genre) with 2 Lps between 2015 and 2020, good ones, more "grown up", but my fav LP is staying their early first one ...
Sorry for my bad english I am french and old too ... Even in the 90th I was not young lol ... Ah la la la, Miki, was like Dany now (from The Warning) for me, crazy old man ^^ ...
And it's curious because my fav music genre of today is extreme Black/Death/Doom/Stoner Sludge Metal, it's really not the same game ... But I am loving so many different genres from my debut in the early 70th (Led Zep/J. Hendrix time for ex.) until now ...
I was surprised to find it here in a reaction channel ...
Good job (I am a subs here), go on man !!!
