Thanks for this video. Reaffirms that I will be using muOS on my soon to be unwrapped CubeXX. Really excited to try it out, especially with Pico8 and NDS (few things I never tried on my prior handhelds).
MuOS is my personal favorite custom os for these Anbernic devices. There is just so much to love. - Great stability - Great battery life - Simple to use - Great library of themes - Quality of Life improvements (disable green led during gaming, especially great on the RG35XX H) - Portmaster - Feature rich - Fast to boot It might not have the looks of Knulli, but for me it wins in all other areas.
You can use portmaster on stock, you just have to manually change the path, turning the led off was always in stock os, themes yeah you do them on stock, they ain't as fancy as you'd like, but we bought this to play games eh. On stock os the video player works great, I've added an ebook reader and a rom downloader. I don't really see a need for custom firmware on this device when stock os works great. IPTV works just fine on stock os as well. Most things these custom firmware offer are already avaliable on stock os. They only really add themes
Best to flash with the latest hotfix for Big Banana. It fixes some minor but still obvious bugs like the LED indicator for battery charging for example.
DS is now amazing on my RG35XXH. For the small number of games I wanted to play on this device, like Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bros, the input lag and the laggy menus just made DS unplayable for me. Now it's great.
Not sure what happened to your original comment..did you delete it? I still have the notification of one but can't read the whole thing. It's not even in the held for review area.
There appears to be a random game feature by pressing R2. First it will pick the folder, you select the folder, then press R2 again to pick the game. I wish it would just pick the game as this is an extra step.
I have the new MUOS banana installed on my RG Cube xx another new update came out yesterday. How should I update? Using full image or just the update? Do I just extract & copy everything from the update folder and merge it with everything on my SD1? (I use the 2 sd option plus I already have migrated imported stuff to SD2. Any help would be amazing ❤ Happy New Year bud
Oh so I download the update file then without extracting it copy it to the ARCHIVE or BACK UP folder & then run the update from Archive manager? I think I understand now.
I think that is the case with most PAL version games. I have not tested it myself with Saturn games but I know it is the case with things like ps2 games.
If you are on refried beans you can't use the update file. You will have to do a fresh install using a full image of big banana. Just make sure to back up your files before flashing your main SD card.
That is something I wondered about too. I was not able to get it working but I did see someone on the discord make some headway a couple days ago and I have yet to check back in.
Yeah, I'm not caught up. The minute I heard the last one required a reflash, I skipped it. Nothing urgent for me to install. Nice to see Sega Saturn support and Drastic hotkey control (that was a big problem for me when setting up my device, so I'm glad the Drastic-steward dev worked on that), so I definitely need to update eventually now, but even still, I'm not going to bother at the moment. I just don't feel like doing it when another reflash could be around the corner and I'm not really playing on my device at the moment anyway as I've been playing a lot of PC titles lately.
Yeah I feel you. Reflashing can be a pain. I finally made the jump to the dual card setup which should make the reflashing easier. They are getting closing to probably getting away from having to reflash on even the larger updates. There have been a lot of good PC games recently. I'm getting sucked into POE2 myself.
@@valley_robot I remain patient. I like to use MuOS due to its simplicity but lack of Bluetooth presently is a bummer. Hopefully it won’t be much longer.

Awesome! You'll be in for a treat. Pico 8 is great.
The new Drastic update is amazing. Awesome we can run Saturn now too. Thank you!
Yeah I am loving the new drastic update.
You could "run" saturn on stock through retroarch. It's runs like shit

I agree! It really does have so many great features.

I heard stock FW runs games faster now. Is this true ? Thx in advance
I think you're the first person to make a video about this release.
Awesome! I shoot for accuracy more than speed but I'll take a win when I can.
It's amazing what we can get out of allwinner H700 chipset, considering how old it is.
The support of this external Yabashiro emulator is a game changer for this device and R36s as well. With H700 soc it's almost running perfectly 😮
phyrex posts a muOS video, i click instantly. great work as always, brother!
Thanks for your support!

One of the only bugs I found was GTA 3 and Vice city now have incorrect audio pitching so that needs to be fixed.
@4:03 what box art set are you using there? looks really good!
That was quick. I was only trying to help.

Is it better that the latest stock os? Performance-wise
muOS was the better one the last time I compared it, but that was a little while ago. I have not been keeping up with the stock updates.
Personally i'd stick with stock i've tried all these custom OS and there's nothing better issues with them

On Saturn, do PAL games run even smoother since they should require less fps (50 instead of 60)? Has anyone tried this?
I think that is the case with most PAL version games. I have not tested it myself with Saturn games but I know it is the case with things like ps2 games.
Stupid question do I put the update only on the 1st and card or the 2nd? Thanks
Either or, doesn't matter.
Is it okay to update big banana even my muos is still on refried beans? If not can u make some tutorials on how i can use the big banana muos

Did anyone's rg28xx have HDMI mode? Mines missing...
Hey Phyrex. Can you not switch the channels using the live TV on MUOS? I wanna switch it like I do on my VLC but I can't.
That is something I wondered about too. I was not able to get it working but I did see someone on the discord make some headway a couple days ago and I have yet to check back in.
One question, what's the format used for Saturn games?
.chd (for all systems out there)
I used .chd

Does kiosk mode disable the function to remove and add from favorites?
As of right now it does not. I have requested that feature and hopefully that gets added soon as it would be a good one.
Scraper
Does it have hdmi and Bluetooth controller support?
HDMI yes, Bluetooth not yet
@MJosephJr thanks, I'll give it a miss, I use mine plugged in to a projector with Bluetooth controllers

PPSSPP is so slow on MuOS, why??? Stock seems to run way better
