We delve into the function and properties of each of the 3 ring set up
the top ring, second ring and oil control rings
The benefits of a properly honed bore to a brand new set of rings
Also on to oil clearances on the mains and rod bearings the cause and effect of too loose or too tight directly impacts what oil thickness you would need to regain the lost oil pressure, and many more!
the older piston rings video and how to plastiguage is on the shop work and builds playlist so check that out
as mentioned on the video the street honda civic VTi that did great numbers

This fact many are using oversized rings I thought right yesterday about. Agree to you 100%
Yes so true I mean oversized rings on stock bore pistons… I mean if needed? Then go oversized pistons same size as the rings then have the machine shop bore and hone the block
Now u got a perfectly round and straight bore to begin with…
Currently addicted to this videos as I'm working on my first ever engine build a b16a for my 89 prelude.
Oh hey man! I’m super happy u saw this then ! Could help avoid unecessary expenses or other costly ways
Me to as I'm building my d16
Nice man! Just throw any questions in these comments (even if it’s about your engine) will def try to answer them
That vtec crossover 😌
true man true… makes me wanna run the same muffler could be the spoon n1 adding some good oomph 😎
Thank you for this knowledge I’m learning a lot from watching!! Keep up the great work !!
Yes sir! Glad it is!
Love it! Big things coming
Yes sir yes sir!
Good machining goes a long way. 🍻
Yes indeed suuuuuuuper!!!
Great video great content always on point
Oh thaaaaank you brother glad this was one of those 😎
That explains it all!
I dont see the point as to why some builders discourage bigger clearance for a daily driven build 😂😂😂
Glad u got this one
Fuckin beast! #Underrated
Very informational! An detail video get this page to 100k 💪👌
Hey hey! Super glad you see this thank you 😎

Can you use b18c gsr crank and rods in a b16 block? With custom pistons with higher wrist pin due to longer rods.
yes that’s been done since 2001
@@SRDmotorsports What's the piston spec for that setup?
Your builder will know and custom pistons will cost more than just getting a b18 block
Great inf bro also got a ? For a lsv turbo b18b1 with b16a head what ring gap will be save I'm building a engine for first time just washing your videos but want to make sure I do it ✅️
On turbo usually more gap is “okay” as it generates more heat etc etc on the top ring I’d go even up to 0.018 on turbo
Ok let's see how it goes
Yep!
Filed to fail. Fave option of a lot of mechanics. As always great video man! I'm gonna rebuild my PH16 soon as it's 27yrs old and burns 600ml of oil per month hahaha. I'm going PM6 on 75.5mm bore. I have a d16y8 head (20 lobes), what cam would you suggest to improve? (yes springs retainers will be upgraded too). Just a daily with slight oomph.
Is that a true y8 head?
@@SRDmotorsports sorry no, but a PH16 head with the Y8 valvetrain. Then the stock ECU would make it run like crap (the VTEC crossover), but was better when I re-tuned it on a chipped ECU.
Alright so a true y8 valvetrain and cam not a p08 like most do
@@SRDmotorsports yes sir! From a real Y8 (P2J) head. Can you suggest a cam? or do you do regrinds? I'm following your head porting videos and will do it myself, just a cleanup not too crazy.
nice atleast not converted thats good
Filed to fit = Not concentric 😜
THERE YOU GO!!! Maaaan that word I couldn’t find in my head as I was talking in the video 🤣 it won’t be “concentric” !
What are the other local builders thinking of going with oversized rings? 😂
Horror stories “builder ko kase mas gusto mas small ung gap” real hirit hence I quoted hahaha
@@SRDmotorsports FSM specs > shadetree builder specs 🍻
"Kargado kasi kaya sirain" 🤣
@@findtherightbeat hahahahaha dayummmmm u nailed it! “Panakbo kase kaya ganyan”
