FYI the DORMAN 310-218 is not a direct replacement - the vent line nipple is oriented to the side instead of straight out like the original, so the hose will not reach. Helpful video - easy to follow.

Pro tip for anyone doing this please read! Double check the rubber ends of those evap hoses (squeeze them), the one up front as well by the purge valve solenoid! They get cracked but you wont see it till you squeeze them. The cracking will result in a evap leak even if you relace the rear canister parts and the cracked gas line! enjoy folks.

I had an 09 Wrangler in this exact spec, but I had cloth seats and a 6 speed. I had this exact issue, drove it for awhile, failed state inspection, sold the Jeep with a CEL and no inspection. If I didn’t sell it and fixed it, I would still be driving it now. Love these Wranglers a lot.

    Say it with me: LDP.
    Edit: nailed it.
There's some irony in the fact that the part that Chrysler specs to check the leakproofness of the evap system accounts for 95% of all evap system failures in Chryslers.

I wish I was in your area. You could figure out the never ending check engine light on my 05 Gand Prix. Runs great, but that damn light comes back after the supposed problem is repaired.

Good work but you should have told folks about resetting the evap monitor readiness. With Dodge/Jeep I like to have the tank 50% to 80% filled. With no Service Engine light and the motor at ambient temperature, start it up and let it reach normal operating temp, then drive about 55 mph for 4 miles, do a start and brake in the city for 2 miles. Then bring it home and let it set for 6 to 8 hours. Repeat the idle to normal operating temp, then the city stop and go for 2 miles. Now if you did not fix the problem, the computer will give you two ignition cycles, then after the failed third attempt the computer will jump in and turn on the service engine soon light. In some cases I have seen the round plastic sending unit on the fuel pump break exposing some of the o-ring. So when you smoke them, be patient. It takes time for the smoke to become visible.

Those 6 bangers ( 3.8 ) are decent running engines. I've got two of them and they run pretty good. And they're not bad on fuel either. At least that's my opinion brother.👍✌️

I had this issue in my Trailhawk and what fixed it was rubbing a little bit of marvel mystery oil on the rubber gasket on the cap. That seemed to seal it good.

You mean you can't just plug in you FIXED scanner, connect to your phone , and replace the part it tells you?? Shocking!!! Oh and you must have been ripping the customer off when you properly diagnosed the problem and fixed it with your years of experience and creativity to save them money. Once again thanks for the informative video and keep up the great work.

I don't have "vapors make the whales cry" income, I have "I have to work to feed my family" income. I've replaced the gas cap and the the evap leak sensor, but this error still pops up. Is there a way to use JScan to disable the sensor, or a way to bypass it and send a dummy signal to the ECM?

Those stupid plastic purge valves are a pain in the ass. The one on our 09 Nissan Maxima SV is bad and you almost need to put it on a lift to get to it. I replaced the cap and cleared the code and it came back a couple of hours later. The nissan ones are bad for sticking open just enough to throw a small leak code. If ya pull it out and shoot some PB blaster in them they will seal again for a while but your better off to just replace it.

So no matter who owns Chrysler the little bullshit will always be the problem? I just got a Crossfire. Nice car with typical Chrysler issues. Thank God it is mostly Mercedes Benz.
