      @joy mar teens Agreed. For a long time I used to think Dave's "wired" persona was just an act, a wild rock 'n' roll stereotype, as if someone could be THAT "on" all the time. But over the years after watching/listening to him in interviews, I realized that "wired" persona is actually who Dave really is...and I've come to greatly respect him for being who he is. Now does that mean I'd wanna be around Dave night & day? LOL HELL NO! But nonetheless I find VH's front man to be a fascinating dude.

      @@Chefmike7545 It called being a troll. Their entire purpose for writing comments is to aggravate, annoy and anger total strangers without provaction. It amuses them. Think about the type of grown adult who still gets a kick out of irritating other people for no good reason. What useful purpose could they possibly serve in this world? Don't you think they do the exact same thing to their friends, family and coworkers? Why wouldn't they? This is not a persona or an act. It's just who they are. I’m a retired firefighter paramedic with nearly 30 years on the job and I did the opposite of what Dave did. I wanted to keep challenging myself to get uncomfortable in my surroundings cuz that’s where you learn the best. I became a professional baseball scout trained by MLB scouting program did stand up comedy, went and took improv classes everything and anything just to keep moving forward. I seen a lot of death so I wanted to make sure I lived life. Thank god I did, cuz 5 years ago I had an exposure which got me sick and had to retire. But was able to live 3 life times. Now I’m just an old guy who games waiting for my first grandchild to be born.

    One of the best books I’ve ever read is DLRs autobiography Crazy From the Heat. He can talk about an elderly bar owner that treated his band and road crew like her own children with the same passion as a trip into the most remote regions of the Amazon river. This man has truly lived and just doesn’t give a damn about anyone’s opinions. There is no Soy in this guys life.

    For me personally, I'm going to miss DLR much more than EVH when he dies. I grew up with VH, and when DLR left I was sad. Then he came right back with Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan and Gregg Bissonette and made 2 great albums with them. Time went on and I bought his book.
    The two things that always stuck with me about DLR, he has lived his life his way. And he has a great sense of humor. Always admired him for the first and always appreciated him for the second. His music got me through a lot of tough times when I was a kid. He is truly one of a kind.

      FYI Musicians are FREAKS OF NATURE, and those that get to indulge their genius in other ways than just one, are the ones that live a balanced life. Roth needed to become a medic in order to save his own life.

    • @Steve-uv9kb
      @Steve-uv9kb 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mister006 I dont think he is dismissing the variety of experiences DLR has had at all or diminishing his whole being into a single word. Im thinking the "tripppy" part might be more about how Dave is always "on" - he is always in showman "Im selling you a party on QVS at 3am" mode. It can get a little exhausting - but shit, maybe thats just Dave and he is like that all the time. Which would be a little.....trippy. BTW - Im a fan, but Dave really aint a musical "genius" is he? Cmon now.. Like KISS - he is a great marketer and an epic showman and delivers a product that he knows will sell. That dont make him a Miles Davis or Mozart though. It makes him a good businessman though

    Joe this clip is great. My father served as a firefighter for 35 years in Ontario, Canada. When he is alcohol free and has a genuine conversation, he reminds me thoroughly of this man. It was inspirational to watch this video clip and Im curious to know how these situations have or may have complicated things for David mentally. Im wondering if the trauma of this kind of thing/related issues could be the direct result of my father's problem. I have spent most of my life trying to form a proper relationship with him but i believe that may not be possible with the effect these things may have had on it since it seems like he barely remembers his children half of the time. Do you have any thoughts on this?

    My sister bought me Van Halen (debut album) on my 11th birthday, March 5th 1978. I learned every word and guitar lick within days and would entertain my family and friends performing air guitar and lip synching. I won a couple of talent shows acting like David Lee Roth. He has always been a unique, eccentric, outlandish, and over the top, but absolutely GOOD MAN for all these years. What a great guy! Happy Birthday To ME! Thanks JOE... Thanks DLR!

  • @YourDroidDoes

    It's interesting how rockstars like Keith Richards have lived entire adult lives living solely as "rockstars". They inevitably become disconnected from the world. Roth is a fucking nut, but I respect the fact that he has left his comfort zone. It's gives him a grounding sliver of life that would otherwise escape him.
