at least 3 awesome t-o-t-p performances in 1972, bowie, roxy music and trex i think i was finally able to crawl to this song as i was a day before turning six months old. I did remember turning 7 in 1979 and remembering blondie, the clash etc. But by 1983 i was fully aware of all the music happening around me and Let's face it, the 80s were pretty awesome as well. Here i am, still Rockin' to the jams 51 yrs later!
I was 13, when this one riff monster of a single came out, and of course I had to buy the single at once. T.Rex were my first favourite band from "Get It On" on, and of course Marc and Mickey will always keep a place in my heart.
i miss glam rock. I'm a youngin and what a brilliant time for popular music that was. Slade, T Rex, Bowie, Sweet, Mott the hoople. Can't go wrong with it
Wow watched them in cardiff june the 10 1972 with my first love, 3years later she dumped me and as much as i tried ive never heard from her to this day, no reason or explanation i was gutted and suicidal but pulled through, i still listen to our songs and wonder if she does, two worse times of my life her dumping me and Marc passing, LONG LIVE TREX
I am a 70s kid , I was introduced to TRex in the mid 80s . I thought I was cool listening to old music 😂. I hung out with older people at the canoe club. I have grown away from this , my taste has evolved on a different path.
I remember my friend Ron would slap this tape into his 8 track player and we would cruise the city in his semi - powerful Buick muscle car. We didn't win a lot of races but we sure made some noise, while listening to Metal Guru.

Didn't realise until recently that Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman of The Turtles were actually the backing singers on this record. Yes, Howard Kaylan who sang Happy Together with the great voice. Just read that in Mark's autobiography.
Flo & Eddie only did the backing vocals up to Electric Warrior. When they asked to be paid Bolan refused, and the later backing vox are a mix of Visconti & Bolan singing falsetto. There is a video on youtube of Visconti telling this story.

Yes - and 'Lady' ! Marc really gave us fans value for money. He often refused to put hit singles on his current album : ' The kids have already bought the singles - I want to give them new songs'. None of his 3 big singles of 1973 appear on Tanx, that year's album. Dream on, Marc. Thank you for the seeds of the dreams you planted in our teenage minds in the hitherto relentlessly GREY 1970's !
I was so lucky to be a teenager in the 70s,great music!

Thanks for all generation of music great sounds by T REX IS HERE TO STAY.
That opening yell makes the hairs stand up, and then it just grows and grows and grows. What a record....

Marc seemed constantly inspired - fifty years later unreleased songs are still coming out.

Awesome voice a great loss to music a legend
It’s the ultimate pop song from the ultimate star…. Stunning performance as well
💖💖💖
The Top of the Pops appearances from all the glamsters were fantastic. And the BBC cameramen knew how to get the best out of every performance.
i miss glam rock. I'm a youngin and what a brilliant time for popular music that was. Slade, T Rex, Bowie, Sweet, Mott the hoople. Can't go wrong with it
One of those are songs that start with the faders pushed up to 11 and then continue to get even louder...

Marc is a great artist. I wish he would have lived, too. He seemed to have innate sense he would have a short life.
Never let a woman take over your soul like that!

I had the privilege in the Capital Theatre Cardiff Wales June the 10th 1972 Metal guru was number 1 i remember it like yesterday. Great Band
Marc was my first pin up poster on my bedroom wall from Jackie Magazine age 12. Second one was George Best 😂
First single I bought in the age of 10.

First single I ever bought then in later years found out the bassist Steve Currie was from my home town of Grimsby.
I know this band in 2024. Great add

Back then you had to have this album if you wanted to get laid. This guy melted women. in the good way.
Femme fatales emerged from shadows to watch this creature fair...

For years I thought this song was "Met a Gnu"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
On their way out then
Yeh, right- T. Rex only had 8 top 5 hits in the year after this...
You got it in one no number ones happy new year
...just how under rated Marc Bolan is very strange...
Alguien del 2024?
The B-side was even better, 'Thunderwing'.
Yes - and 'Lady' !
Marc really gave us fans value for money.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
With that war cry he announced the birth of The Age of Aquarius...
Shamelessly miming to studio recording! That was the pretence of the Top of the Pops until they were found out!
Marc was a very beautifull boy and look, I'm not gay 🤪
You are a bit
Mary Lu is a jew?
thanks for the music but all of them were druged
Do you mean drugGed?
Your point being...?
He has sheep vibrato lol
Playback? 😂
