Hello Vera, thank you very much for demonstrating a quality retouching process and for your advice! Wishing you good luck in growing your channel and gaining many clients :)
I had to comment… your work is superb. I can’t stand unnatural looking images where models look like androids. You started with a beautiful model, good skin, great makeup application, great shooting, lighting, & white balancing. All the up front planning, hard work & masterful execution= less time needing to retouch for more natural looking exceptional results. I had to subscribe! Love your work & videos. Thank you!!!
If used really well and in moderation, it could be possible, yes. Unfortunately people that are not really skilled in retouching, tends to overuse it, a lot. I don’t think that FS should be applied to skin. It’s amazing for clothes or products tho! To be honest, I did used to use FS few years back to retouch portraits. And the results were good. But i relly never achieved proper high end results, until I switched to dodge and burn. Can’t beie it took me so long to realise that 🙏🏼 Learned on my own mistakes 😁
Hi Vera. I really enjoyed this video and I like your approach. I will check out your other videos. Do you know where I can get some free high quality beauty images to practice on? Thank you.
Very good tips. Sometimes I get carried away and end up touching things that didn’t need it in the first place and then really going overboard with the editing. Thanks for sharing the tips. It really does remind me of how I should be editing.
Beautiful job and good tips, i can definitely use some, especially pulling it back a notch, cuz i've spent a couple of hours d&b at some point, which is a bit nuts. The only thing that throws me a little bit off with these "natural" retouches is how the eyes get completely cleaned up. Where is the natural in that? It looks so jarring compared to the skin. But i guess that's standard for commercial pro stuff . It just doesn't make much sense to me.
Hi Vera, I love everything about your work. Your design skills, video layout, PS Workspace, and education delivery are fantastic. I'm in and out and forget my retouching PS basics. I purchased the RA Panel, and a few of their tutorials but some steps are skipped and if you are a novice like me you will not be sure how to execute something. For example, I'm not even sure how to do the non-destructive cropping other than de-selecting the delete pixel box, or even when dodging and burning I just press B for brush tool and using the default brush settings making changes in size and softness. Watching your video just reminded me to go into the brush folder and select the brush that works with what I'm doing. Your teaching is simple and of high quality. Once I get through the materials I've already invested in I will definitely be trying out your Education site. In the meantime is there a short video you can do in the future to discuss brush selections for those using RA panels and solar flares etc that would be a great insight for beginners. I apologize if this information is already on your Vera Change Education website.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment! Glad you like my work ♥️ About the brush settings, it really depends on what you are using the brushes with. I prefer soft round brush on low flow for most of my brush work. But then hair brushes needs to be harder for example. I have created my own brush presets (just simple brushes for different things, all mostly round with different levels of flow or hardness). That’s just for convenience. I have a retouching panels video already, but will be making more in future for sure!
Hello Vera, I love your channel and went through all your videos in the last week...question : why your whole workflow is around dodge and burn and not frequency separation technique ? See you :)
Lol i love the joke and really appreciate the tips. Sometimes I gt deeply invested in making an image perfect but if it isn't close to that before it gets to post production, it probably won't be at any point.
hahah thanks! Well sometimes less is more, especially if you have amazing model with great skin. Recently, the retouch is getting much more minimal and natural - and I like that! It can be challenging to leave it natural, especially for people that are used to heavy and detailed retouching. Just a little bit of practice and confidence in your skill :)

I love FS if you mainly use the color difference and not mess with the texture it can give a high end result too if not being overused
