@@Sophiesofiesophi It's not their natural color in the wild I believe is what she meant, and in that case she'd be right as far as I know. I think there's some rare cases of wild ringnecks appearing in different colors besides green(like Gray) however the overwhelming majority of wild ringnecks are bright green in color, just like Clover here. The different colors like blue, purple, violet, yellow, etc... are the result of certain breeding practices that produce different color mutations. How or why it happens I don't know the specifics of however.
It's not natural. It's a mutation made by humans by breeding.

Ringnecks are the best. They have such a distinct voice.

We're often, here in India 😂😂😂 they really like the guava trees we have, so whenever we hear their distinctive shrill call, a couple of guavas are surely gone. Sadly, their numbers are dwindling

I have never heard an Indian ringneck sound as normal and chill as the green one. They always sound like the blue one and for some reason it’s super funny how mellow the green one is
I think the green one is the original wild species and the purple/lavender a hybridized.

Question: im considering getting a bird. I’ve just started my research on them so I don’t know much. I haven’t even picked a specific species yet but I really like the Indian Ringneck thus far. I was going to get a bunny, but after extensive research, I decided a bunny just wasn’t right for me nor my family.
Anywho- different people have brought up several times that these birds NEED socialization. Socializing with what? Other birds? Humans?
I’m a stay at home mom to a special needs child, so I have all the time in the world for our future pet.
Any advice, recommendations or thoughts, are greatly appreciated. 🙃😊

You can always tell a birds behaviour based on the words they know. Prime example “Pretty bird” vs “What did you do?”
