- Transforming faster than the human eye can see, the Decepticon Battlechargers, Runamuck and Runabout roll action! Causing all this mayhem, they aren't too bright.
NOTE: I don't know if it was ever publicly stated about IDW's Battlechargers alt modes. I looked up images of the mid 2000s Lotus Esprit and it does look similar, but it would seem that its actually an early 2000s Chevy Camaro.

In the IDW comics, Runamuck and Runabout transformed in the mid 2000s Camaros
There were no mid 2000's Camaros. The design is based on the 1998-2002 Camaro SS. Then it was discontinued for a while.
Their alternate mode would be a 1998-2002 Camaro SS, not mid 2000s lotus esprits

YES! Finally! Not only one of my favorite duos of Transformers, but also two of my favorite characters.
I loved this, but around 8:38 you say they transform into a Lotus Esprit. In actuality they're both "Catfish" Camaros. This is the first time they would share the same vehicle mode, as Runamuck was a Pontiac Trans-Am when Runabout was a Lotus Esprit.
I was heavily looking up what car they were in those comics. Nothing came up so I looked at images of real cars. If I'm wrong though, I'll add it to the description.
They turn into 1998-2002 Camaro SS as an alternate mode. Hope that helps!

They may be the 'redshirts' of the Decepticons but they're still two of my fave transformers. Just finished modding my War for Cybertron Battlechargers to look more cartoon accurate. They look the business! Right vandals! :)
Loved that beavis and butthead intro. Would love to say I loved the characters featured in this retrospective but they didn’t appear enough in the original cartoon to make an impression, I guess galvatron made good on his promise to have them turned into scrap. Plus those toys with the pull back motor were ones I really did not appreciate as a kid. Still a very cool retrospective giving me a chance to appreciate these characters that the cartoon did not.
Runabout has also joined the Earth Wars game.

You've gotta do this collaborations in the intro from time-to-time, quite fun actually. Comparing these two Decepticons to Beavis and Butthead really brought me back nostalgia.

Runamuck and Runabout are two of the hardest charging Decepticons Megatron's got. And what do they get? Duty on this stinkin' planet.
I was dying at the first 13 minutes of this. I watched that part at least 5 times. LMAO.
The Battlechargers would be a very easy addition to future shows, simple palette swaps with minor voice differences to serve as a duo of incompetent bunglers, starter villains for the Autobots to face off against but also comic relief.

As a kid ( must of been around 7) I had two transforming toys exactly the same as Top spin and twin twist but definitely wasn't official transformers. Must of been knock off versions, they actually didn't transform on there own . You've literally just jolted my memories of my grandma buying me them . Wow ,thank you.

I kinda like the idea of the Battlechargers and a a human gangster leader and his minions working together, like that kid in the comic became the leader.
Friction rifle which causes someone to burst into flames if they move reminds me of the effects of the Final Fantasy IX blue magic Mustard Bomb, which causes the "Burned" Status effect. If any action is taken, the affected individual is KO'ed.
I swear runamuk and runabout were the inspiration for a lot of the idiotic deception duos out there examples ransack and crumplezone, cyclonus and demolisher and so on and so forth

Runabout has a B for the color Black
Runamuck has an M that can flip to be a W for White
I've always thought of the Battlechargers as the Decepticon antithesis of the Autobots' Lambo twins. They'd make perfect foils and nemeses for Swipes and Streaks.
Man I never had any problem telling runabout from runamuck but that's because Im a huge transformers nerd and also I had runamuk back in 1987

Runamuck and Runabout were the precursors to Beavis and Butt-Head.
I always remembered it was RunaBout being black because B = Black.
That's a great way to remember it. It's also easier for me to remember their personalities with Runamuck being like Beavis and Runabout being like Butt-Head.
I've said it before, one of the upgrade kit companies needs to make their spray paint cans from the comic. It's by far their most iconic moment, and that issue is also one of the more iconic of the original comic line.
