There another YT channel (JoeShow if I'm not wrong) that gave a bad review/made a rant of the 10 things they hated and now did a second video after seeing the movie 2 more times (WTF?) retracting what was said in the first film bc he bought some dictionary for TLJ. WHAT???!!! According to one user, his channel is really owned by a Disney subsidiary. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

    I was a huge Star Wars fan. Toys, comics, drinking glasses, bedsheets, and lunchbox. I loved the experience of being taken to a long time ago in a galaxy far away. The Last Jedi made me not want to be a fan anymore. The joy was gone all of a sudden. The film made me not want to go see the Solo film. The Last Jedi made me not care about Star Wars anymore, and that truly breaks my heart.

I'm a die hard Star Wars fan , I loved the original trilogy and the prequels , when Disney bought the franchise I cringed , now it has come to pass , Star Wars is ruined and beyond the point of no return , I'll not spend a dime to see these pile of shit Disney calls Star Wars , I'm done with this bullshit , !

      You don't have to quit being a Star Wars fan. Just do like I do, tell yourself the movies ended after The Return of the Jedi. And if you want to keep going with the story? Seek out the Expanded Universe stuff. Disney Wars are not Canon, it's fan fiction. I think the worst part of these new movies are the total destruction of the legacy of the characters created by the original films. And that's something that can't be corrected. H. Ford and M. Hamil will never come back to do another remake, and C. Fisher is dead. But like I said, you don't have to stop being a Star Wars fan. Just ignore all of this new bullshit.

    • @bjrnhalfhand2258

      Exactly. This seems to be a love it or hate it movie but for those that didn't like its "we're so clever subverting audience expectations" and its "the past doesn't matter" message its so bad its killed Star Wars for them. Doing things like turning Luke into whatever that thing was then killing him and fundamentally changing the force from what it has been for 6+ movies and hundreds of books has ruined Star Wars forever.

    • @Michaelvarez
      @Michaelvarez 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As one of the few people that do like Rey, why 'delusional' people? I'd argue that Rey isn't a perfect character as she still becomes a hostage like she did in the last film, she criesa and has denial problems, she gets rescued by kylo ren and Luke Skywalker. I usually identify and follow character in the previous films, in the prequels it's Obi Wan, in the originals it's Luke and yes the sequels it is Rey. However I don't actually think I am these characters in real life, I do only to enhance my experience. However I do agree with you on one thing...
      Rey's heroes journey is misconstrued. I don't like how they handled the mystery of Rey's parents or how they've managed to explain her power. Yes she still needs to be taught but I agree that the last jedi is making it hard for me to find.....problems with her character other than it being handled by Rian Johnson. I'm interested to see how they will fix the problems in The Last Jedi in the last episode.

      I would have demanded them to continue Legends timeline, but after TFA and TLJ I'm not sure if I'd let them to do Legends... Unless old writers come back and are allowed to do their job as they see fit.
      As an example Drew Karpyshyn, who wrote popular Darth Bane Trilogy and Revan novel, said that he'd come back to Star Wars only if they allow him to write for the old canon.

      Nick Hydier ; I never experienced anything like it! And I was 23 years old and ex-navy...far from being a star struck child. I am usually counter- everything- everybody else-is doing! But I watched it at a matinee showing, not knowing what to expect. It was a weekday and I just got off of my midnight computer room shift. Hardly anyone there at that hour and the movie just opened but hadn't quite caught on yet.
      A few days later- well the rest is history! I still can't believe how it grabbed me the way it did. I've lived with those characters all these decades. To see SW turn out like this...

    Once upon a time they made Star Wars movies because the wanted to tell a story. Nowadays they want to make Star Wars movies so they have to come up with stories. It's obvious they don't have a clue where they are going with it, and the audience is slowly realizing it.

    • @Eszuran
      @Eszuran 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      But they always wanted to make money. And they did - by creating great movies. Why won't they do it again?

    • @Eszuran
      @Eszuran 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is well said, but I still don't get it. They already put MILLIONS and MILLIONS of $ into the production. Why wouldn't they spend a 0,01% of this for a good story? This is literally the cheapest element of the movie. And even when they start designing sets etc, a skilled writer could write 10 good stories set in the same interiors. Why don't they care? It's like they WANT to make crap stories. They have money and people. They CHOOSE not to tell good stories.

      The Last Jedi is made by Disney Committee to be a Kids Movie for CHILDREN.
      As such, the film maker assumes that the audience is not smart enough or knowledgeable enough
      to notice plotholes and logic errors. Thus, no fact checking, no lore continuity, no
      scientific consultation. Thus, Max Kids Stuff, cute animals,childish jokes, more toys,
      no good guy deaths and an ending kids would like. If you are smarter than a child,
      you just might be offended and angered by this movie.

    As a life long female Sci-Fi fan that has loved Star Wars since I was too young to remember but was told by my parents that I wore out a VHS tapes of IV, I want to say how disgusted I am by the gender politics getting in the way of a good STORY! I never had a problem getting into it just because Luke was a boy. When my friend's at THREE YEARS OLD went out and played Star Wars we never thought "I can't be a Jedi, I'm just a girl!" Princess Leia was my imaginary friend while I was a Jedi that kicked ass to protect her. The idea that females can't get interested without pandering is insulting.

    Kathleen Kennedy needs to be fired. this movie was NOT about Star Wars. it was about feminism and New World Order liberalism...and used Star Wars as it's vehicle. it's very sad that big government and Hollywood bubble-PC-group-think has hijacked timeless imagination and whimsy. it has silenced and snuffed out the individual thinking artist. the irony is that the movie tries to be PC and inclusive yet the result is that the movie is prejudice, sexist and exclusive to a small group of people....namely the ass kissing SJW big shots in Hollywood. Star Wars was always a special sacred place to escape all that political garbage. it was something that brought people together with it's common human archetypes. the metaphors were found in aliens, droids, and strange planets. now we are being spoon fed metaphors in purple hair, skin color, and class warfare

I feel so sorry for the new fans that will not be able to experience what I felt over the years. Disney had trampled on real story telling in favor of PC BS. I have a theory - (warning, long)
    The main divisive point in this movie is Luke’s arc. Yes, there are tons of other flaws, but the handling of Luke seems to be primary cause of the great divide among people who either like this film or think it’s garbage.
    Why do SJWs defend this film so much? Because Luke in TLJ represents them and justifies their ways of thought/actions. To non-extremists, Luke was the epitome of a good guy. He struggled, failed, found his resolve, failed some more, but ultimately succeeded. He was canonized as a man with morals who wouldn’t waiver, would face whatever bleakness with heroic resolve, and refused to be broken. SJWs see his dark turn in this film as normal. So what that he wanted to murder his adolescent nephew in his sleep? Every man is capable of darkness, and perhaps the ends justify the means. (See their history of doxxing, deplatforming, and attempting to ruin adversaries’ real lives). For them, it’s perfectly normal and maybe even expected to go to the dark side so long as you’re the “good guy” and the opposition the enemy.
    Similarly - liken Luke’s last notable action to their method in the current climate. Rather than physically or personally confront his enemy, in person, and face whatever ramifications face to face ....instead, it’s a visage. Essentially a hollow interpretation of what Luke would/should actually do as he makes his grand exit. His final effort was a social media tirade. It caught everyone’s attention, was captivating in varying ways, but was ultimately empty. A ghost of what a real person could, would, and should do in that situation - especially one such as Luke Skywalker.
    That’s why us “normies” hate it. Luke is idealized us. He had his failures, overcame them, became a better person for it, and there’s no possible way we could see him, or ourselves, succumbing to such BS and exiting the stage on such a popcorn-fart of a note. To the SJWs....the same applies. They can not only see that happening for themselves, they openly embrace it and applaud it....because it validates their viewpoints, ideology, and often deplorable actions.

      that's the problem: the extreme left wing, cultural marxist propaganda takes precedence before the effort into making a genuine good film!
      George Lucas told them to piss off, when they were pressuring him to include more "diversity" (black characters). He picked Billy Dee Williams to play Lando Calrissian because he thought he was a good actor, NOT because he was black!

    • @briansinger5258
      @briansinger5258 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Mike Spearwood
      Lando was added to expand the market for the film, since the audience was predominantly white middle class. It wasn't agenda driven then, beyond making money - and the character is great...
      but now we have the unholy combination of marketing and ideology: neo-liberal capitalism is a system where you sell the idea not the product, and the consumer becomes your advertising platform.
      Ghostbusters 2016 was the best example, but it was happening as early as Red Tails.

      I really feel sorry for Boyega and Ridley because you can see they're really having a fun time doing Star Wars, that it was like a dream come true to them. And they are given absolutely nothing to work with all while being praised for being "groundbreaking" not because of the strength of the characters they portray but because fate had them be born with a particular set of genitalia or skin color. To me, the most important and impactful scene in Star Wars is the portrayal of the deaths of Luke’s aunt and uncle. Raw skeletons flashed for just the right amount of time as not to fetish the portrayal of such a gruesome death. It set the tone for adults and children that this trilogy universe is real and very dangerous.
    Disney would never allow for such a stark scene and that is a very notable betrayal in the curation of the star wars universe.

    Look what I read on the Forbes website as part of an article : ‘A widespread major backlash against The Last Jedi does not exist. It’s a segment of fandom who can indeed get loud with varying degrees of complaints, but as noted earlier volume doesn’t translate automatically into numerical superiority. There’s no evidence that a majority or even plurality of Star Wars fans have major complaints or criticisms against this movie.’ They may as well have signed it Mickey Mouse.

    @LUCKO2022 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The truth is Star Wars WAS COMPLETE. In 2005 the final piece of the story was released and it ran it's course.
    Star Wars HAS ALWAYS BEEN about Anakin Skywalker since at least 1980's Empire Strikes Back. Vader was the central focus in Empire, he was in the later half of Jedi. Don't believe me, well listen to when Yoda is talking to Luke after revealing he is Yoda. First he asks Luke why he wants to be a Jedi, Luke says he wants to be a Jedi like his father. Yoda replies "Powerful Jedi was he, powerful Jedi. Much Anger in him... LIKE HIS FATHER. Then Yoda says for over 800 years he trained Jedi, and on his council whom he was betrayed. Then he says, "this one, a long time I have watched. All HIS life , look away...to the future... to the horizon...never his mind on where HE was, what HE was doing". Again, it's talking about ANAKIN. Star Wars is ANAKIN'S STORY.
    I just don't understand how NO ONE besides me I guess picked up on it. Even as a kid I knew the series was about Ani when there was only 3 films in existence.
    This whole continuing the series even though it is done is basically like taking a book that has been out for years and then all of a sudden someone else comes along and adds a completely unnecessary epilogue that has NOTHING to do with the original story at all. That is what these new films are doing.

    *Vice-Admiral Gender Studies* - sacrifices herself to blow the enemy up = Great move!
    *Finn* - attempts to sacrifice himself to blow the enemy up = whoa whoa whoa, can't allow a penis-wielding character across the line of heroism; dispatch a woman to stop him, then undermine his motives with: "We don't win by fighting what we hate, but by saving what we love." Funny that same life lesson was not the Fallopian sage watchword of the day when women died under the same circumstances literal minutes beforehand. To say nothing of Rose planting an uninvited kiss on Finn in the process which - let's be honest - if the genders were reversed in this day and age, the feminist outrage on Twitter would go down in oppression-Olympics history. Add to that the slap that Leia is allowed to give Poe with impunity, and the silence from feminists is doubly REAL. Reverse THOSE genders and blue-haired 30 year olds the world over would immediately require decades of therapy. I lean left politically, but I do not seek to reify those beliefs in Star Wars, my fucking god. Can we leave animal rights messaging and - I think I say this rather noncontroversially, even from the director's standpoint - overt supercilious emasculation _out_ of our escapist lowest-common-denominator space operas? Will Ferrell's "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills" meme is so devastatingly apt, watching this garbage.

    I have been a Star Wars fan since I was about 2 years old, and I believe that Star Wars has left me behind a long time ago and it took this movie to make me realize that. I am encouraging the old Star Wars fans from the beginning who feel alienated by the direction of this series to stop buying tickets for a sub par sinking ship of a product. We don't need to protest, don't need to riot or troll. Just stop buying their sub par product. I believe if The Last Jedi doesn't do the numbers they hope for, Solo tanks and Episode IX does poorly, they will be forced to shelve Star Wars. Like the man said "It's time for the Jedi to end". I couldn't agree more Luke. There are no more reasons to see these movies, why waste my money. Let this be the end of it.

      Exactly. Why couldn’t Luke’s nephew have been heroic having been trained well by Luke. They still could have had all sorts of drama play out. And it would have been more interesting. And if they wanted girlpower how about giving Leah something better to do.

    • @Anwell100
      @Anwell100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Funny that they only truly deconstructed Luke and Han though, isn't it?. While Leia, who has yet again lost everything, her son, her husband, her brother, the republic she fought so hard for, is the one left standing. The one that never ran away. Added to that she is even given godlike powers. (of course without any seen training in the force. But she is a woman so she doesn't need it after all :s)
      It seems to me its more about wiping out male heroes, than anything. And I hate that. And I say that as a female fan that loves Luke Skywalkers character (or at least I used to)
      To top it all up they replace the main heroes of old, with a Mary Sue. Its frankly insulting. If Disney wants a female main character, at least they should have the decency to write a good one. One that has to work for her achievements. Just like Luke had to. *sighs*

    • @michaelt2974
      @michaelt2974 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. You can still have super strong women without sacrificing credibility. For example All they needed were some scenes showing Jedi woman training and learning SLOWLY about the force. Not necessary that she be perfect otherwise she is never in jeopardy. Remember Aliens or Terminator 2? Strong women but not perfect and the guys were not all lame. It shouldn’t be that hard to write a decent script unless the writers are all 12 years old

    • @Anwell100
      @Anwell100 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its been a long time since I saw alien, but I do remember Ripley being awesome. But also human. Rey feels distant to me in some ways. I just can't relate to her. Perhaps because we don't really she her struggles. (Her crying over Ben doesn't count.)
      I think the writers might be 12 years old, or at least stupid. They seem to think the only way to make a woman strong is to make a man weak. That people that can't write better than this, is put on a 4 billion dollar franchise is beyond me. For me there is no plot left for episode 9 now. We all know Rey will beat Kylo (she always does). The End.

And I keep saying "The character's that have similar or near the same problems as the new ones have", but seemingly that just because as of late there's no attention to the previous content that it's some how being hypocritical when criticizing the new trilogy? Love the optimism about the China opening too. For the second biggest market in the world the $125 for Force Awakens ain't much money. They actually cast big name Chinese actors in Rogue One to try to get more money and it failed even worse. The Disney Star Wars has been coasting on momentum which had been worn down all ready by the prequels. Nostalgia for getting the original cast together counted for a lot of Force Awakens bucks and that's gone now.

The idea of a man losing himself to guilt and despair is a good one, but it simply isn't fitting for Luke Skywalker's character. The fans know it and Mark Hamill knows it. They simply chose the wrong character with whom to tackle that kind of story. And of course there's all the Mary Sue crap too so it would probably still be hated by some people, but at least it wouldn't ruin a beloved character and saga.

    The sad part is that female/minority Star Wars fans like me (Hispanic Democratic female here) who don't approve of the Last Jedi are going to be ignored because we don't fit the SJW narrative (that being that this is an 'alt-right' misogynist issue). Same shit happened with Gamergate where many innocent male gamers were all clumped with the trolls and painted as sexist basement-dwelling pigs. Back then, female gamers attempted to fight back and defend gamers with the #notyourshield phrase against SJW groups. They went ignored. Then the same shit happened with the Ghostbusters Reboot. I remember posting my comment on the trailer, along with others who posted legit criticism. All of our comments got promptly removed. Meanwhile, the troll comments got intentionally left behind. Now it's happening with Star Wars.
    For a 'progressive' movement that flaunts itself as being the VOICE for people like me, they certainly act like oppressors who have no issue silencing those that don't support their stance, including those they claim to 'defend' or represent. As a woman, I didn't like it when female characters back in the day used to be painted as fragile snowflakes who existed only to elevate its male characters. Today, I don't like it when male characters are painted as incompetent idiots who exist only to elevate its female characters.
    True equality can only come from capturing the complexity of both sexes and being true to them. In Rey being this over-hyped Mary Sue character, she doesn't tell the world that women can be 'strong'. Rather, she's a one-dimensional caricature of a woman who depends on the emasculation/incompetence of male comrades to be on the top of the food chain. There's no sense of 'social justice' or victory for women by rigging the game in our favor. It's a cheap win that deserves no applause.
    Characters like Ripley and She-Ra succeeded as female characters back in the day because they weren't afraid to air out their dirty laundry. They were as weak as they were strong. With Ripley, she was a condescending bitch who rubbed even her crew the wrong way. But her survival instinct, core principals, and character development made us root for her. With She-Ra, this iconic character of the 80s began her career as a VILLAIN - a rare story arc even for male hero characters.
    It's important to note, also, that the films that featured strong female characters prioritized narrative and characterization above gender politics. In fact, gender politics was often the last thing to consider. With a strong enough story and strong enough cast, the audience doesn't need to be hit over the head and told this is a strong female character. Rather, through the ACTIONS and words of that character we can figure it out on our own.

    On a rating of 1-10 with 10 being the most. I would rate myself a 5 as a starwars “fan”. I don’t have any toys, I don’t have anything related to Starwars other than the ORIGINAL Trilogy on VHS....
    Look, I grew up on Starwars. It might not have been the best CGI or effects back then but you was able to sit down and go threw struggles and pain and Success with you characters! You was able to see them grow, fall, and then get back up!!!
    I will put this as plain as I can. What DISNEY and that woman Kathleen did to LUKE alone is enough for me to NEVER care about a starwars film again. Luke tried to save Darth Vader after all his killings and murders, so you mean to tell me that he was going to cut down a boy in bed with his back turned in his SLEEP!!?? I don’t think so!
    And after waiting 30 years, I wanted to see how Luke has grown! How he aged with the Force. See him Tear some shit up! Show his true power. Instead Disney gives us a damn hologram and then he dies because he is tired!? That to me was a VERY blatant attack on Luke and males that have supported this franchise from day one!
    This to me was Disney telling us “ Starwars are no longer for men, it’s for woman and gay males (Kilo Ren) and that if you are masculine you take the BACK SEAT AND DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD (Poe)....
    I’m done. There is no place for me or my family in this new vision of Starwars. It is now dead to me. It ended at 6... RIP

    And still they fail to take into account the fact that Disney starts off 4 billion in the hole to purchase Star Wars/lucas film in the first place. Box office is nothing when they are simply destroying the value of their investment, at this point there are more bad films than good in the series, its not tarnished, its burned. They had one last chance to give the original cast a decent send off since they dragged them back in, and clearly no adults were in the room because they simply trashed their legacy, no one said stop, no one held it back to release "when its done" to protect their investment, instead they went with the transformers route of just winging it, script be damned as long as the special effects houses production lines are kept full, everything is fine.
    Hamill is still virtue signalling on twitter without a shred of awareness that the people he pushes destroyed his legacy.

But its pretty obvious there are more men. )A fanbase that has kept this franchise alive for decades. The fanbase that actually gives Star Wars its monetary value. I work as an airline pilot and pilots are not creative types, but I honestly think I could sit down and come up with a better story than what Disney, Rian Johnson and K Kennedy came up with!

  • @KenDavis--0-_-0--
    @KenDavis--0-_-0-- 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    First: I saw the original film in 1977 when I was 12 years old and grew up with the entire franchise
    Modern Political views: It seems to me that Kennedy and Johnson wanted to make a new Republic comprised of "equality in the force" so that everyone can instantly manipulate the force like a Jedi in this new rebooted galaxy; they killed any Rey origin story arc, and it ain't coming back. This might explain why Johnson got to write and direct episode VIII. Why would they do this? Well, Kennedy hates the idea of class, so there should not be a few select "Jedi Knights" or "Sith Lords" in this Johnson-Kennedy rebooted galaxy. You see, now EVERYONE can manipulate the force, because if not, then the Jedi (or Sith for that matter) would be little better than those "evil rich" people in space Vegas (in Kennedy's worldview anyway). In order to make sure everyone has "equal access" to the force, they had to kill off the idea of the the force being able to be controlled by a select few people like the Jedi and Sith (who have a certain threshold of midichlorians in their bodies). This is evident in the ending scene with the stable boy force pulling the broom into his hands (a task that took Luke some amount of time to do properly). This is why it is so bad for executives to inject current politics into a 40 year old franchise because it necessarily comes at the cost of 1. Destroying existing lore in ham handed ways as was done in TLJ, and 2. Alienating a significant percentage of the fan base. They called it the last Jedi because literally, the Jedi as a part of the lore is effectively dead. Luke was the last one. The First Order is effectively dead as well.
    The character of Hodo was brought in just to make Poe look like a flyboy with "toxic masculinity". If Dern's character was an actual commander worthy of her salt, she would have told Isaac's character what the plan was in the first place, (he would have went along with it, making the whole side trip to space Vegas unnecessary). Poe was not under arrest, still in the chain of command, and was entitled to know what the heck was going on if for nothing else then to be able execute command intent in case there was another breakdown in the chain of command (as happened earlier with Leia). It's what good commanders do (I am retired AF, so I know a bit about this). Any military officer would have relieved Dern's character of command under similar circumstances. The plan involved logistical considerations which the subordinates had to execute, and it is a pretty good bet that morale was going down quick because folks are watching ships getting blown up left and right and Dern's character doing nothing about it. She was a bonehead, pure and simple. Furthermore, Leia would have never kept the evacuation plan secret from Poe, who hours before (in what was the end of the previous movie) blew up the starkiller base, so I think she could trust him. She sure would not have stunned him before asking him what the heck was going on after waking up from a coma. Nothing Hodo did made any military sense, and she was only written in for, in my opinion, political beliefs that Kennedy espouses (flyboy must be brought down a notch, and the force is female). It is perfectly fine to have strong female characters, but not at the expense of making men look like simpering idiots (which is clearly what Rian Johnson did here). Johnson and Kennedy killed this entire franchise. They killed the lore, the force, the hero's journey, and they murdered the characters of both Luke and Leia. Leia would have never demoted Poe in the first place, because the Dreadnought would have decimated the entire fleet if someone did not take it out, so there would have never been a chance to "run away" in the first place. Given all of these pesky facts, it is hard to fathom why Johnson would have thrown this whole Poe demotion canard together in the first place, because it sure as heck was not good story telling or sane military decisions by the characters

      Lil_Tex I agree with you pal. It sucks what they did with Luke. Luke was my favorite character in Star Wars, and I hate what they've done to him. Though I and many others have pointed out how shit it was for the way they treated him in this. Hell, I was talking about how fucking shit that was with The Force Awakens. Even before we found out the shitty reason why he ran away from everything, we hear his nephew went to the dark side and then went into hiding. But now, it just sucks even harder. And then in this film Luke wonders how they found him, despite the last film saying he left a map with pieces missing, so there's a continuity mistake or character error or just plain fuck up right there. Though my comment is supposed to encapsulate Luke, but I wanted to keep it as short and simple as I could. I've left some comments on other videos of there's in more detail about how awful they handled Luke. Just thought I'd take a different approach instead of basically saying the same thing.

  • @davidsirmons

    TLJ alienated mainstream SW fans, by making a movie that dishonors the characters, ignores canon and ignores historical demands upon those characters. The 54 percent of approving audiences are the average movie watcher who'd be entertained by ANY movie, regardless of how good or bad it is. That's who TLJ was made for. The PROBLEM, is that long-time SW fans are the OTHER 46 PERCENT OF THE AUDIENCE WHO WERE ALIENATED by this awful tragedy, AND REFUSE TO GO SEE THIS MOVIE AGAIN. Rian et al ruined the nature of the most beloved sci-fi character in history, and backlash has been monumental for it. The 46 percent of audiences who are so pissed are the ones who WOULD HAVE gone to see TLJ...2....5.....7....10 times.....but THEY WON'T, because they're rightly OUTRAGED at how Luke was treated, how his personality was entirely inverted, and a host of other failures and stupid oversights that could only have come from directors and producers who ARE NOT FANS OF SW, and view it as a stratagem on how to just make money. Disney wanted to """subvert expectations"""........well I bet they didn't intend to subvert their hope TLJ would make 1.5 billion. I'll be surprised if it makes 820 million, just a bit more than half of what they hoped. Bastards. My journey with Star Wars came to an absolute end when TLJ was over. SW is dead and gone, and there is nothing they can do to make it right again.

    I predict that Star Wars is about to follow the same cycle of the Star Trek franchise: Insanely schizophrenic and lazy script writing by the studios which led to fan made films that were MUCH BETTER than the studio product, followed by the studios launching a campaign of lawfare on said fanbase, to eliminate any competition to their own piss poor product. So now the Star Trek franchise is dead, stick a fork in it.
    The fans are going to start making some Star Wars content with impressive production values to create content that fans want, and to reject the swill that the SJW crowd in Hollyweird is producing. Then Disney shall "release the lawyers", litigating their fanbase into submission. Finally, with another incomprehensibly bad script, the fans will just stop caring at all about Star Wars.
    Then it will be "Mission Accomplished" for the SJW's: Another piece of Americana destroyed.

      They already have made #StarWarsNotStarWars, but you need to read to find it. Nick Cole & Jason Anspach's "Galaxy Edge" series does it for those who want more war in their Star Wars. More mysticism, space pirates, and such? Brian Niemeier's Soul Cycle series, starting with Nethereal. More authors are getting in on that action, and a lot are indie authors; I wrote such a story for the PulpRev Sampler. All books are at Amazon, Kindle section, and many are in print also.
      But if you're wanting film and TV alternatives, GO EAST! Japan's been doing that for decades, with wild success. Beyond the Macross and Gundam franchises, you have Tytania and Legend of the Galactic Heroes for the purest Space Opera. (The latter is truly pure, and the original novels are available in English now.) Other shows and films blend Space Opera with other elements to varying degrees; find something you like and go with it.

    They tried the same excuse making, and blaming the fans, with the new *Ghostbusters* movie.
    Didn't work then, won't work now.

    Perfectly said my friend. The only new Star Wars movie I liked was Rogue One and for that reason, it's because it was in between part 3 and 4 and it fit in with the original stories. The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi are and will always be big loads of crap and Return of The Jedi will always be the real true ending movie to the franchise for me unless George Lucas takes over again. I know the books have more stories besides the movies but I never have had the time to sit and read them and I bet there great, but for now I just love the original movies more including Rogue One and that's it.

    If you look at past performance of Star Wars films, it is the worst drop of any of them. Star Wars itself actually increased viewers in 2nd and 3rd weeks. Empire saw a small drop in the 2nd week and increased in the 3rd.
    The prequels all had a minimal drop in the 2nd week and a larger one in the third. That even applied to the horrendous Clone Wars.

      No he shouldn't. As someone who is supposedly a male feminist, his biggest act was taking the one actual force trained female character with any ability, who was not a Mary Sue, namely Ahsoka, (who was trained in saber use by her mentor Plo Koon, the number three saber user in the Jedi), and who killed 6 Mandalorians with one move, defeated Cad Bane, fought Asaj and Grevious to standstills as a young girl; somehow she lost to a man in saber combat whose biggest martial claim to fame is killing children, old men, and basic rebel soldiers.
      I don't see how he would serve either Kennedy's feminist, man-hating agenda, or a fans expectation of bringing balance back to the force, when he single handedly destroyed a fan favorite character, and all the good will he earned with the Clone Wars, by his work on Rebels under the new Disney regime.
      Too be fair though, it's difficult to say whether the blame for Ahsoka and Rebels lays squarely with him, or, considering recent on screen developments, Disney is the real culprit.

      Uhhh one of Anakin's achievements include besting Dooku. a master of Form II Makashi the premier dueling form which he then started to utilize after he put on the suit. Stop crying cuz Ahsoka lost its okay sheesh.

      Lancer Ace Filoni is nothing more than a Kennedy puppet. He has mocked and ridiculed EU fans when he was outed as an EU know-nothing after having claimed that he was an EU fan at a convention. He has little to no respect for things like the EU and only brought back characters like Thrawn into his little show _'Rebels',_ not cause he likes the EU but, cause he was trying to trick EU fans who walked away from the show, into coming back and help boost weak, low and declining viewership.
      Not to mention, when he was accused by fans of messing up the continuity of SW, he tried to justify himself by saying that Lucas once told him that, _"Continuity is for wimps"._ This so-called "quote" has never been verified or substantiated and yet, he tried to pass it off as a valid quote. If what he said was true, why did Lucas and Lucasfilm spend *_decades_* trying to keep all of the SW universe cohesive and... *_in continuity?_* The guy is full of Bantha crap and is nothing more than a Ten Gallon hat wearing "Yes-man" to the Di$ney/Kennedyfilm "powers that be". He has no business heading anything, least of all Lucasfilm.

      Filoni is far from perfect though. As was stated here he isn't very good at keeping continuity. When he was working on Clone Wars, while the show had awesome stuff about it, he'd be making changes or mistakes that different EU writers had to patch up later.

    Watch them eventually get to the audience is too homophobic, or hates the film cause of the strong female leads. I predict they will do the exact same BS that they said back when the Ghostbuster's movie was not being seen or something that extent. Which will eventually just turn to them attacking the real fans that are not going to see it in the first place and turn them away from them for good.
    It will not hurt them really until they lose lots of money or have a drastic drop in the amount of people going to see it world wide. Yet for it being Disney that owns it now when that does happen I predict them to still stick with the narrative they are working on and just change Star Wars to direct to home video sequels like it does with most all of its property.
    Because after all Disney is known for spreading the Princess syndrome around the world. How many sword swinging ass kicking Princes do they have in all their stories - only around 2. Disney is highly built on telling romance stories with a young female character at the center of it where the whole world revolves around them. Now having them tell a story that I have rarely seen from Disney itself is unlikely. Now if the team at Pixar had the ability to make a Star Wars movie it would be far better than the crap coming out of the Disney studio at this moment as that team can tell a story.

    The total production budget including advertising cost for The Last Jedi was 800 million dollars. So as of now the film has broke even. It needs to gross a lot more money to be considered a success by Disney executives.

      You are forgetting that Disney only gets part of the revenue with the rest going to theatre owners. Even by the most optimistic approach, it needs 1 billion dollars to break even and much more to be considered success.
