    Loving all the engineering that goes into this!

      +Matthias Wandel Thank you, I'm warming up at least two projects with electronic components that I'm sure you'll like too. They're taking a while as I had to go back and review/relearn some fundamentals, should be worthwhile though, electricity is incredible . . .

    You should flip the ring bolts around and use carriage bolts. In doing that you would be able to recess them and make some wood plugs to cover the heads.Otherwise beautiful piece. I don't know how I ended up on this part of TH-cam, but I'm glad I did.

    Looks very nice. Really good work on the tolerances.

    man this is an awesome build! You mentioned that you almost wish there was more friction. have you thought about using magnets in the stop where the bearings stop when the ring is up? that way it would have an initial force to overcome before it could move?

    That screws coming out of the outside of the ring somehow bother me. Have you thought about an invisible way of mounting this bearings?

    I love the table , the way you made it is fantastic. do you think the same mechanism can be applied to a bistro style table with a beginning radius of 26 inches ?

    Scott, do your plans have the updated ring around the table and the shortened moving parts? I wanted to buy them but am afraid to at this point until I know I will not have to modify it and work backwards. I really am having fun watching you build this. It is great to see it come together. Keep it up.

      +Aaron McKelvey The plans will include the ring in the next update, which will be issued after I finish making these upgrades. All people who have previously purchased the plans will receive the new version automatically via e-mail when it's completed. I always prefer to build something before adding it to the plans as my initial concept usually needs fine tuning to work properly. Thank you.

      Understood. I really like what you have done. You are good at what you do.

    Amazing work! Are you planning on upgrading the legs?

    • @ScottRumschlag
      @ScottRumschlag  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheFleming98 Thank you. I'm considering building a new expanding table (from scratch, following the plans) next year and aesthetics would definitely be a much higher priority than in this "dev" version.

    Scott. Be careful w the gloves. Play it safer by using leather or a material that's safe around the router.

    The author does like to from scratch, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

    Looking good! Have you had any thoughts on the look of the tabletop? I was thinking it would be cool to have some inlay that changes and merges when you change the size. Just as a simple example, drawn with the help of a pringles can: i.imgur.com/6BHYnZG.jpg

      +Von Antero That is a very cool idea. I haven't thought about it yet but I'm considering building a new expanding table (from scratch, following the plans) next year and aesthetics would definitely be a much higher priority than in this "dev" version.
