Which cables did you used to connect the cf card reader ? The ones at 0:23 or did you use the old ones that were already connect to the floppy disk reader ?
Hello everyone I have a problem with my akai mpc 2000 xl, to replace the floppy drive with flash card reader I had to update the operating system with OS 01.20 after the upgrade is complete the mpc was combed and the screen came out this written "instert mpc 2000xl disk" and mpc not respond to any commands, I hope you can help me I do not know how to do, greetings!
you need a usb zip drive, copy the files off the zip drive into your computer, then insert you cf card into your computer's cf reader and copy from computer to cf card. ( you may need to purchase a usb cf card readers if you don't have one) Good luck!
@@Jacob-yi9kk it's not too hard basically follow my tutorial on how to install the compact flash drive, same exact thing except you're installing the bare ATAPI type zip drive which is available in 100mb versions and 250mb versions, you will need a 40 pin ribbon ATAPI cable. There is a guy called sp1200 fanatic who has a video here on TH-cam that shows exactly how to do this, good luck!
@@yingtianfu It is a metal bracket that serves as a support for the original floppy disk drive. In this install, it's used to support the new compact flash drive with some modification.
Yeah drilling the holes is a bit tricky, here is a pointer used some, blue painter's masking tape over the area to be drilled, it will prevent the bit from moving around, allowing you to get a more properly aligned hole. Good luck!
I see you filmed this in 1947.
I did. ;-)

@@Jacob-yi9kk no problem brother peace!
Did you use your power wires the way they came or did you have to modify them
No modification to the power cable was needed. Very straight forward. Good luck!
@@muzixco Hi, what is that silver bar thing attached on the StarTech card reader at 2:27? What is the use of it?
@@yingtianfu Hello, it is a sort of support bracket that holds the original floppy drive in place.

Good instruction video... I need to get those holes better in mine...

Yes thanks for the tip!
You're welcome bro.

They max out at 1GB even if you use bigger than 1GB...
Yes it seems the maximum usable is 1gb, so getting higher capacity CF cards is a waste.
