Not in the UK and Europe they weren't, they were one of the biggest bands of the 80's across the pond.
They just sold out the local major amphitheater here in San Diego. They definitely have a large fan base across the world.

Tears for Fears - one of my favorite duos from the 80s. I saw them in concert when I was a teen.
did you know they have a new album out and are touring the U.S. right now? There are some concert videos up on TH-cam from the tour--it sounds amazing and I think the new songs blend perfectly with their classics. I hope to catch a show, but unfortunately, I don't see any dates near me right now.

"Woman in Chains" by Tears for Fears is a great song. Check it out.
On the album, which was huge in 1985, Head over Heals is kinda the middle song in a 3 song medley. Broken-Head over Heals-Broken (reprise). Listening to them in a row gives you an ever greater appreciation. From the same album Mother's Talk and The Working Hour are strong as well.
I never get tired of their songs. They have a new album. Listen to Mad World and then listen to Adam Lambert’s version of it.
This song had me in my feels! You really had to be there in the 80's. So glad for this review. This error was the absolute best . This was a time when all generous played on all radio stations. I truly value those days!
You should watch the Donnie Darko scene where this song plays as Donnie gets off a school bus and enters school. One of my favorite movie scenes, so so amazing. The song and movie scene work perfectly together. Gives the school an airy eerie vibe.

Yes, Roland Orzabal is a great voice with it's own style. Their current album is one of the best things going around - 'Sowing The Seeds of Love' is their masterpiece and 'Badman's Song' is superb too. Not their biggest two hits but awesome bangers.

Great song, awesome group - I was a teenager when this came out - I have many memories of this time period, great friends, girlfriends, nightclubs, parties and muscle cars. Will never forget that time of my life.
You have to check out their performances from this year, they still sound exactly like that!
This tour was my first concert in Detroit, Debbie Harry (Blondie) opened up for them! A bunch of us Canadian teens, took the tunnel bus from Windsor to Detroit to enjoy the show, and sang their songs all the way back to Canada at the end of the night. It was incredible! Great memories!

“Sowing the seeds of love” is a must listen from Tears for Fears. May be one of the most beautifully produced songs out there.
This is one of my favorite songs of the '80s (and as a former public library worker, I love that the video took place in a library!). For future Tears for Fears reactions, I suggest checking out the title track from their new album, released this year. It's called 'The Tipping Point.' The story behind the song is that Roland Orzabal's wife, Caroline, passed away in 2017, and Roland wondered, as he went through her getting more ill and until her death, where the 'tipping point' is between life and death. (The whole album is wonderful and there are some upbeat moments, too).

My fav tears for fears song. Thx for reacting. In 1991 I was laid off my job, lost some friends my dad died and my first cat died ((17 urs old). Actually it was all within about 2 months. I remember on a new job that I hated I came home every night and listened to this in the bathtub with candles. That and the Luther Vandross double cd with superstar and stuff. It was a hard time in my life. But as always music (and baths) helped.
I borrowed the Luther from my aunt and never gave it back to her. She passed two years ago. She was my fav aunt and I truly believe she forgives me. ❤️🙏

they released a new album this year and are on tour right now. I've watched some clips from the tour here on TH-cam and it's just amazing--they sound as good as ever and the new material blends in well with the classics.

Ya know, Cut Smith had actually done several cameos on a TV show called Psych in the early 2000’s. He played himself and it was awesome! @@jeanine6328 thanks for the information! I had heard about that but I've never actually watched that show, so I'm curious to see what it was like. Here is a link to one of Tears for Fears' new songs, 'The Tipping Point.'. It was written about the untimely death of Roland's wife in 2017 (when is the 'tipping point' between life and death?). This new album took 17 years for them to make after a lot of false starts, Roland's wife dying, etc. They finally got together in a room, just the two of them, and wrote a song together for the first time since they were 18 years old! With that, they had a renewed sense of purpose and were able to finally complete the album. If you’re a fan of our the 80’s and serious silliness, you might really enjoy the show Psych. It’s about a guy and his best friend opening a psychic detective agency after the one is forced to tell the police he’s psychic or risk being arrested for a string of crimes. He and his buddy are 80’s obsessed and the references are nonstop. Not to mention the parade of guest stars from Captain Kirk and Sulu from Star Trek (not in same episode). To Danny Glover Tim Curry. It has a very dedicated fan base called Psychos. Lol

The only thing I think of when I hear this song is one of ,y all time fav movies, the cult classic Donnie Darko. I highly rec that movie to everyone. The soundtrack is amazing. It’s set in the 80’s (it was made in the 00’s tho), and uses some super iconic 80’s songs in the movie, to great effect.

Before it was just one of those songs you’d hear on “top hits from the 80’s, 90’s & beyond” stations that I always liked, but nvr thought to much about. Then it’s used so effectively in Donnie Darko & I developed an emotional response to the song. Which lead me to pay attn to other T4F’s songs that I’d heard but nvr really listened to. I’d nvr thought about how lovely the two singers voices blended.

The 80’s was the best decade ever. As a little kid growing up then it seemed like life was so much simpler for everyone. Sad that kids today will never get to experience life like that ever again. And I may be a bit biased on this but music then was better too, lol
