It’s not true. The developers say so that’s all you need to know. This deserves an hd remake. They don’t even need to give it the ff7 treatment. Just update graphics and add voice acting.
Just finished this game today, and this ending was so beautiful!! So glad that Rinoa and Squall found love together. This game's story is not as strong as 7's overall in my opinion, but I like how they made it feel more like a romance. So cute and compelling.

Alright... I'm weary of this constant "Squall is dead" theory casting a shadow on this beautiful ending, so Im putting a moratorium on this right now. Yoshinori Kitase, the director of FF8, addressed the theory back in 2017 during an interview. He specifically stated that Squall was alive at the end of FF8. He also proceeded to debunk the Rinoa = Ultimecia theory. This game is built on the theme of love, not tragedy. That being said, Kitase did express some appreciation for the Squall is dead theory - and even went as far to say that he might go along with it if they ever did a remake. So let's all hope that never happens. Lol. Have a good day everyone.
This was my second FF game after VII, and while VII was amazing and I love the cast and all the Remake stuff, I love this one even more. The final sequence was kind of obnoxiously difficult, but the characters are so perfect. And I love how you can hear Prelude sort of playing over this scene. On to FF9!!
Lamentablemente aunque la teoría q squall está vivo o muerto de incline más a q está.muerto ciertamente cuando es enfocada con la cámara por Irvin y luego en esta escena no se ve a squall cuando riona levanta el dedo al cielo en una se ve q está sola y mirando más al vacío en la otra se ve a squall prácticamente así lado por lo tanto si squall está muerto y eso q vemos es su alma o escencia q ella está rememorando triste pero cierto aunque prefiero pensar q vivieron felices y comieron perdices
No creo, la camera se le fue la bateria para darte suspenso de que si estaba vivo o no para que despues te sorprendas cuando lo veas al final con Rinoa. Ademas de que despues de Rinoa abrazar a Squall se ve como su cara se pone feliz dandote claves y detalles de que ese abrazo lo ayudo a restaurarse.

Never really bought into the Squall is dead thing. So I do like this ending.
