Im an aussie born who grew up in Sydney and some of these I've never heard. Fuck me dead is definitely a saying I have said at work. Alot of work settings are not as formal compared to other western country setting and I worked in a white collar environment.

I’m Aussie and I’ve never heard of “you’ve got Buckleys” but there are lots of alternatives to that saying like “you’re kidding yourself”, “you’d be pissing in the wind”, etc
Another common alternative to the “f*** me dead” is “f*** me swinging”

@@DavidPola1961 hahaha mate I’m 33 and old enough to know that crikey is used only to show that you’re an Aussie haha or you’re just taking the piss or unless you’re saying crikey Morton, I thought the buckleys thing might have been some weird Melbourne slang or something but I’ve never heard anyone say you’ve got buckleys chance, it’s more likely a “get fucked you’ll win” haha let’s be honest

Buckley was a convict in the first fleet who escaped, sounded good when he first left but it didn’t turn out well. That’s how it was taught to me at school in the 70’s

I am Aussie and I don't know 100% for sure but I am pretty sure Flat Out Like A Lizard Drinking has more to do with lizards being flat on their stomach. Most of our sang is not literal. A common rhyming slang saying is to hit the frog and toad, frog and toad are sort of related but what we are saying is lets get in the car and hit the road which rhymes with toad, basic rule of Aussie slang is the 2 words should be related, but the 2nd word has to rhyme with the actual word you mean - another example is to get the uncle Gus which is to get the bus or a sporting angle is to get a meat pie which means to score a try in footy.

I’m surprised she didn’t mention yarn or yarning it’s a slang Aussies use for when their gonna talk or chat to someone.
For example some Aussies will say let’s have a yarn or did you and so so have a yarn yet. I use that slang most of the time instead of saying what to talk or chat. 😂

"you've got Buckley's" is a pretty common saying in Aus. As my old boss used to say "you've got two chances, mine and Buckley's. And my name is Buckley."

Works either way. Especially as her name was Buckley. But it's not a point worth arguing about.
