Wonderful to see this sort of direction for tech innovation that supports independent artists. My son is just starting his music career, starting a degree at Point Blank in September, and I've been looking for insights into how AI might change the music industry in future. This is the first genuinely exciting and positive insight into a future that contains some good news!
AI is just going to spread the market even thinner than it already is. This will get us to the point where there will be more artists than consumers faster than we already are.
@@rolie25 In the influencer and online entrepreneur space I'd agree, but in reality the 'high end' music business has always been a winner takes all game, it's just the business model that has continually evolved. Consumers will not suddenly become great artists en masse. But I agree that competition is crowding out attention, and algorithmic discovery is optimised for profit not artistic merit. Artists need to become entrepreneurs now, which has changed the game in some unfortunate ways. I have to hope that AI's machine learning will never surpass mediocre quality, and what stands out to people's taste will always be the genuinely new and different.
