Another great video Tristan - you must be so proud of your mate Ben - but also give yourself a big thumbs up for producing this insight into the Tour. I`m sure Ben`s fan club is much larger thanks to your efforts - he seems such a well grounded guy! I`m 78 - an ex amateur racer but still turning the pedals - been following the TDF since 1955 and have practically every English Language book on cycling ever written but this video was such a great insight into the race. Thanks again Gordon
Thanks so much Gordon, that’s such a huge compliment. Great to hear you’re still out riding and loving it. I can’t even begin to imagine the changes you’ve seen since the 50’s! Thanks again mate!
I love how humble Ben is. So great to hear his perspective and get the insights on something very few will ever experience. He illustrates how hard the racing is, something the TV coverage struggles to capture. Chapeau!
Tristan, this was such an excellent interview - great to see a world class rider with zero pretense whatsoever! I really hope your channel blows up with interviews like this!
The incredible guts Ben showed after winning the stage to hold on to his top 10 place was the most interesting story of the tour. I think it’s a shame the way the media coverage of the race focuses so much on the people airing on the front of the group. It’s the people falling off the back and then turning themselves inside out to get back on or stay within reach who really demonstrate what this sport is all about. Absolute brilliant ride. Massive respect.
Thanks Andrew, absolutely agree. There are so many variables in bike racing and so many individual stories happening at the same time. It’s part of what makes the sport so great to watch, and so interesting to hear different perspectives from riders in the same race. Appreciate the comment! 🙏🏼
What a great interview. Loved the skill to hold the camera so steady and ride smoothly. Like how Ben basically was riding on your shoulder, never wants wobbling. Skill. Super talent.
Great video mate….Ben is just a typical down to earth Aussie. It’s always great when all the Aussie pros come back home to the local bunches in summer…
When he won that stage at the giro 2020 after losing to Mohoric(if i remember correctly) the day before i already thought this guy could become a GC rider, then he performed very well in the Stelvio stage, where he seemed to keep the pace of the GC riders, but was stopped to help Pozzovivo. He was very strong that year and showed his abilities. Very happy he achieved something Huge like this and more to come in the next yeae!
I only recently started back watching all your videos & they are all Great!! BUT...this is one of the best cycling videos I have ever seen in 30+ years of cycling. Ben is such a humble champion & it was such a pleasure to hear his recounting of his incredibly great first TDF ride! Thanks so much!
Great interviewing skills on the bike. Great insights into what he went through. We can only imagine his excitement. Hope they build around him in the off season. Cheers.
Been hanging out for this. Thanks for giving us this incredibly real and intimate experience that couldn't exist on other platforms. Awesome work Tristan, looking forward to the "other" Tour de France in a few weeks.
hi Tristan! Love the video's & reminds me of many times riding in Girona. Why not make a tourists guide to cycling in Girona as a stand alone project from your usual videos. Include coffee shops, bike shops, favourite restaurants for cyclists & drop a couple of links to favourite routes.. I think it will introduce many people to your channel as tourism starts to reopen.... Keep up the great work
Great interview with Ben, another top video Tristan. Your pre TDF video with Ben was so good I screamed his win, and thrilled at his 4th in his first Tour…..Chapeau….Chapeau. Look forward to your upcoming video of your Tour of France…if you need a bed, you’re welcome to stay….my family and live on Île de Ré….bonus it’s pancake flat….with great ice cream!! Just as well the island‘s only 7m above sea level🇫🇷🚴♀️!
Thanks mate! That’s an amazing offer. We’re only doing a few days a little north of the Spanish border unfortunately, but if I’m ever up on the west coast I’ll come check you guys out. 🙏🏼
Great vid. Nice to see the human side of crazy athletes! Ben's performance at the tour was bril, what a nice guy too. I came, I watched, I subscribed 😀 Keep making the vids Tristan, they make me smile and good luck for the future. Stay safe
I’ve discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and have watched every episode until now. It’s inspired me to get back into cycling and maybe even a cycling holiday once borders open up. Love the quality of your work Tristan - keep it up mate.
Such a great video! It's so cool to hear the inside stories of the peleton, so cool to hear that all Australians see and know each other and chat a bit from time to time. Shows the human side, really great videos and you are great guys!
Thanks mate 🙏🏼 You’d be surprised how different cycling is in this way as a professional sport. Most pros from different teams train together and plenty are close mates..you’d be surprised by how few people realise this, given very few competing athletes in other sports train with each other.
Once again - great video. Nice to hear the inside perspective. Must be very cool riding for a French team in the TDF. Glad he has enjoyed his down time off radar. I am watching the AG2R transfer news with interest - see who they bring in to support him in his next GC attempt. Wonder...... "does he want an Ineos / Jumbo train or does he prefer the more solo style GC assualt?"
Great interview Tristan. It would be great to see you interview aussie riders (blokes and sheilas) about racing and living in Europe. Not asking for much mate. 😁👍👍
Mate I love how candid this thing is. Maybe its because u2 are best mates. Awesome video. Ben is such a humble guy, listening to him on cycling podcast is truly a joy and apparently he's cooler with his mates too. Awesome.
Great video Tristan and it re-affirmed that Ben is a cracking bloke. Looking forward to the next installment. Your videos have got me checkin out riding in Girona if they ever let us out of Australia again!!!
Cool vid! Interesting about staying in the saddle to avoid cramping, I wonder what the science behind that is? (I’ll have to try it coz I always struggle with cramps after big long efforts)
Thank you guys. Entertaining and informative insight. But you only touched briefly on one thing that I’ve always wondered about - the day after Paris (or any grand you). It’s all over. Where do the guys go? Do you just go home? Do you leave the hotel on your own or do you leave as a team and go somewhere to de-brief? If you’re free to go, surely you don’t have enough clothes, etc. I know it’s weird, but it’s always bothered me! What’s that day after like?
Lucky to be over in Europe for summer. I wanted to go but with the lockdown it's pretty near impossible to get out of Oz right now. Have you thought about doing a vid about how you got the visa etc to live in Spain as and any pointers. Ben will only get better he could be the next Aussie tdf winner.
Hey mate, yeah the Oz situation isn’t good at the minute 😥 I’m lucky in that I have a British passport through my dad, and I moved here and applied for residency before Brexit happened. So I’m in a slightly different boat to many people. Fingers crossed Ben continues to improve! Time will tell…
@@tristantakevideo My cousin lives in Spain and she did much like you did. I have an Oz , British and Irish status so I could live in Spain by using an Irish passport.
Hello Tristan, just discovered your channel - enjoying the videos! Do you review Ben’s bike, group set and so on? Get his opinion - even though it will be positive due to sponsors…

@@tristantakevideo Bro can you recommend a good road helmet with excellent areo/ventilation/light . I see your boy is wearing a HJC Ibex?
Gordon, you are an inspiration. Keep pressing those pedals!
A literal media coup. You'll never get a more relaxed, natural discussion than when with a mate.
Hahah thanks man. Aiming to give insights the media can’t get access to, which I think is what people actually love to see and hear.

What a wonderful story! Thanks for sharing.
What a gentlemen! So proud to be an aussie with Benny representing us!
Absolute gentleman he is.
That was just so nice, amazing to get some inside perspective. Can’t wait to see Ben and all the great young Aussies at the tour again.

What a treat!!! Thank you so much! Ben is so down to earth!!!
Nearly all cyclist are down to earth , unlike soccer types .
Awesome Ben and Tristan. 🍻🍻

Yeah I know he’s keen to get back to WA when he can for a few of the summer bunchies!

That was an awesome stage win! Congrats!
Thanks for posting this. The thing I loved about Ben's performance was that it was brilliant and yet credible.
The fact that this guy went to my school is wild, my current pe teacher taught him as well. Aquinas is very proud
I love how they are so close to each other literally, love this interview i'd like to see this channel grow
Really nice video. Great to get a small peek behind the race headlines. And good questioning from Tristan.

Love this vid. It looked like you filmed the ride with a phone, thought you would‘ve used a GoPro. Great to get the inside view of Ben‘s race
