Noah I want to say thank you for taking the time to allow us to peak behind the scenes to see just a glimpse at what you look for in the Buffalo industry.
Thanks for giving us a view of some of the buffalo in the winter cold, Noah. Give you and all ranchers and farmers a whole lot of credit, as your work has to continue in the worst conditions, and cold is one of them. Hoping your new year is a healthy and prosperous one for you and your ranch!
Great video Noah. So informative. I don't think I'll ever own one ,not that I wouldn't want to . They are so majestic. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless. I pray that you and your family have an amazing new year.
This was really interesting. Does Iron Horse Bison have a TH-cam channel, a blog, or website? I don't think Washington has its own bison association. I have never heard about any local bison auctions. I purchase ground bison meat from our local Fred Meyer. It ccomes in 1 lb. packages and is around $10/lb. I have looked at different bison ranches in the mid west that ship across the country; but, the price per 1/2 lb. is often twice what I pay for a full pound. Does Heidi still have her TH-cam channel? I have not seen an update in a while?
No unfortunately Ironhorse does not have a channel. Yes, it can be very expensive to have the meat shipped due to keeping it cold during shipment. Her channel is still there but she hasn’t uploaded anything in a while. Life got a little too busy unfortunately.
Great video. I personally like the bison with a bigger hump on the neck. Still has a straight line with the 3 circles just a way steeper grade. I think my nba seller did me a favor adding a 7 yr and a 5 yr old heifer to my herd. Helped a lot having the older ones keeping them calm. I do think one of the most important aspects is buying ranch animals. The parks animals should be left for the professional ranchers. Man did I get lucky..the conservancy herd is a whole different monster not really for beginners. Are most of the bison being raised west of the Mississippi? Your auctions are awesome. My state group doesn’t do to much there isn’t many of us. I doubt we have 500 Buffalo in the state to bring to an auction like that. Maybe someday.
I am just an observer of this fine animal but I understand I am sorely lacking in information about this beautiful creature. I would need to go to Buffalo University to understand all the things you talked about and shown carefully all the things to look for. For me it was the same way back in the early 80s when I was beginning my introduce to the PC world. I read everything I could get my hands on about computers. How they worked how information was stored how to take them apart. Amazingly I was also trying to learn Koine Greek and working 35 a week at RadioShack. It was a crazy schedule But I understood that computers was going to be the future for business and I thought it could be a valuable tool for the Ministry. I hold a Masters of Divinity Degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Unfortunately it’s pretty subjective. The pictures that we have back then are very few and far between. The bison we have today are identical to those pictures anyway.

Very informative great video
Glad you liked it.
@@BrokenArrowBison I did have a question like the group of like 10 to 12 animals at do u recommend buying at once? Once u get started
I would say three or more is OK. I wouldn’t purchase less than three because of their herd instinct.
@@BrokenArrowBison gotcha
Noah, what are dew claws on a bison?
Dewclaws are the “small hooves” on the back of there feet designed to give traction in snow and mud.
Very interesting information 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, most of the animals are raised out west. Would definitely love to see more animals out your way for sure!
Me to..I’d love to see a second ranch in my county. I’ll be ready to help. I hope that someone who comes out says I want to raise bison.
great video Noah
Thank you!
I noticed the brand at the bottom on the last couple videos. I like it.

😃
Don't you wanna look for "original" bison like from really old photos? Like from the 1800's???
Unfortunately it’s pretty subjective. The pictures that we have back then are very few and far between. The bison we have today are identical to those pictures anyway.
