I love watching people react to this. The Weeknd is so cryptic and symbolic with his videos. So much so that he incorporates parts of his actual life (bandages covering face) just to come out with this music video. I strongly recommend you check out some breakdowns on this video, it will blow your mind. (On your own time of course)

Once again, we should thanks Max Martin for this wonderful song and production. This swede is probably the best writer/producer on the planet for almost the last 3 decades... he also said that ABBA was among his big influence.

Dereck!! you definately needs to hear the hole whole album!! All the songs are gems! Also by watching the video clips, you will understand why he has this face on this video! He got beaten on "blinding lights" ect ect! "Faith" is one of my favorit song with "Save your tears"

the video is created from the point of view from his AUDIANCE...
its how they percieve the story told everything in his story is fake(how the audiance views the story). even how he tells about himself in the story is fake. in the end, he cannot live without her, but always has a way to screw things up(how we would percieve his story)...

Great tune. Esoteric video. I know you haven't heard much OMD but is it just me but is this not OMDish. By the way Tesla terrible tune.. Wish they would drop it from the live set. Souvenir or either of the Joan of arc tunes ground breaking. I remember hearing them when they were released and they were so different from everything else. Had a majesty feel.

Hi Dereck! I love The Weeknd, it's a great artist whether for the song, his albums or his personality. This guy is FANTASTIC and he has this little something that I can't explain that captivates us, a great aura.
His voice is extraordinary. Lately in an interview, he said that this voice has evolved in 10 years of career and here are his words : " My voice has been greatly shaped by Ethiopian music. The older I got, the more I discovered different music. My voice has become a chameleon with different facets with each album. By breaking industry standards, I feel like I am influencing others. I feel like I spent the last ten years of my life creating my own stamp. Throughout my career I have tried to avoid my stamp, or to duplicate it. I knew The Weeknd later than you (in 2015) cuz he was not yet well known or distributed by Records Companies and he didn't yet have the impact as in 2016 in my country with the single and Album STARBOY even if in 2015 his songs like Earned It (soundtrack "Fifty Shades Of Grey"), The Hills, Can't Feel My Face were broadcast in videos on TV channels, a little less on radios.
In 2012, he played in a barely full Bataclan or Trianon in PARIS or in the opening act of his friend Drake in Bercy.
SAVE YOUR TEARS is my favorite one after of course Blinding Lights THE MUST! Very 80's and NO.1 Worldwide.
I'm not surprised, Abel surprised everyone at the end of November 2019 with this song on my own, I quickly joined because I love the 80's and in France there is a French 80's "revival" with TOURS and CD'S Compilations, which explains why the song was so well received and become NO.1 with many radios rotations and Charts on TV Channels (NRJ HITS, M6 MUSIC, CSTAR,etc...), he was NO. everywhere on the French Charts for several weeks in 2020.
Thanks to him, there are other 80's songs like Dua Lipa did with Physical, but NOT Kylie! Kylie is more DISCO, it's been felt for decades in her songs, she said in interview for a French TV Magazine that she loved DISCO since she was child! She grew up with and she continues in this direction!
On the other hand, David Guetta ( a famous Frech DJ) released end of 2020 LET'S LOVE with SIA a song very 80'S with SYNTHS and DRUMS.

It's a good IDEA to react on a FULL VERSION album on The Weeknd! You didn't react on "Blinding Lights" cuz your CHANNEL was not yet created and the title very known.
