your dedication is admirable. my setup is very minimal and modern, but also incomplete. and health problems and broken tech constantly in the way. big ups for your perseverance mate. props for keeping the 90s vibes alive, the likes of Orbital and Underworld and LTJ Bukem - and others ofc - changed my life (as well as psy-dub and goodness knows what else) and so in my productions I try to tune in to that vibe, instead of the commercial, big room house or dubstep or "EDM" that has parasitized and veritably paralyzed rave culture. I wish I could collab with someone like you. Coupla videos pulled me out of a nasty depression tonight, so pure cheers. Honestly sometimes I feel at my best when I barely get a malfunctioning feature to work, I can only imagine having to deal with loose cables etc all the time, I know what that's like just from cheap fiddly headphones, lol. I can only imagine an entire mixing and MIDI routing board. Don't stop we need more like you; I only know one Jungilst/dnb DJ here in the states, but if I still have his contact info I'ma send him your channel.
Appreciate the grumbles! I just installed mine last night. Took til 4am because of some stubborn connectors. I haven't powered on yet (also life stuff) but I'm hoping to not see these issues on my machine. Cheers!
Ahhhhh that would drive me nuts! I decided to stick to using floppies in my Akai Samplers, I did borrow my Gotek which I normally use externally on my Amiga to stick in my S1000 to read some S3000 images but just stored them to SCSI SD then put the Floppy drive back in. I know you said you were happy with your FF.CFG file but definitely double check you have: host = akai interface = akai-s950 Now he does say to set these as well: pin02 = nc # S1100 pin34 = rdy # S1100 However he does mention these are for S1100 so might be worth seeing how you get on by omitting thoese 2 lines (or adding them if they aren't already). As those options are specifically about telling the Akai if the drive is ready or not. The issue you're having almost seems like the drive is becoming 'ready' later than the Akai expects it to be. Like you mentioned as well, might be worth sticking on the latest Firmware update as they directly affect how the floppy emulator goodness works. The latest FlashFloppy firmware can be found here: github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/releases/download/v1.0/flashfloppy-v1.0.zip If you can find an empty flash drive (or make this one empty), copy the FF_Gotek-v1.0.upd file to the root directory of the USB Disk then turn on the sampler whilst holding down both buttons on the Gotek which should kick the update off automatically. github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/wiki/Firmware-Update I guess another suggestion as well is maybe try another USB stick as well, newer/cheaper ones especially can have some weird ways of doing things so try a different flash drive if you can.
Core2lee91 sweet! That’s some great info there I’ll try this! I have a few spare flash drives so no probs there. I did try a few thinking it could be a dodgy one but I had the same issue so it must be one of the above issues. Thanks for the links 👍
@@12BITJuNGLEOuTTHeRe Keep us posted man :) Things like this can be a fucking nightmare. If none of what I said works, and when you (FIANLLY 😜) finish your tune and get around to checking the jumpers I would also try the same Gotek drive in your Amiga as well just to make sure there isn't something going on with the drive it's self.
12 BIT JuNGLE OuT THeRe I've set up a link on my server where you can upload. Feel free to stick your FF.CFG file here and I will look over it with a second pair of eyes. hobbo.co.uk/s/y2EArWRadnmzdL5
@@Core2lee91 hey sorry I only just saw this. I've uploaded my config file to your link. I notice I'm using an HXC file which could be my problem I guess. I tried using the FF.CFG (i've uploaded that too) that came with the gotek but the issue is the same. I've checked my jumper setting at it's set to S0 which from what I've been able to work out seem right?
I just installed one in my 950 with the old screen, I have tried all-flash floppy versions 1.0 to 3.15 and its the same Same issue here, I am going to have a go at cracking this( unless anyone has found a solution ) my guess its the config file or perhaps a second jumper placement might be needed , instead of just the s0
Hello my friend. I have the exact same problem as you do/did. The screen keep reading "Oops! Disk is unprepared. you must FORMAT it" so I format but there's no difference. This makes me almost crazy man. As I scrolled the comments, you eventually went back to the floppy, right? I don't know what to do.
NightGunLee 나의권리 yeah sorry I gave up, life’s to short to be spending time figuring these things out hey. It was getting in the way of making music so I just haven’t returned to the problem and just rolling with the floppy again. Good luck and let me know if you ever find a solution 👍
Hey.... Any joy yet? Having the same issue here.... where did you buy your drive? if ebay... what seller was it ? seller told me to update the drive... still nothing. even tried a new ribbon cable and diff stick... NOTHING. i will not give up with this, there must be a solution. ill let you know if i figure it out. Great Channel Btw.. Peace.
Sean Francis hey man! Yeah mine was an eBay one with, a flash floppy one. I still have it but not in the machine anymore I just didn't have the time to search for a solution. I tried everything I could find online like turning the ribbon cable round, did the update, tried different disk images not sure if I ever susded out the jumper settings but I'm pretty sure it was as it should be from what I read. Good lunch and please let me know if you find the answer ✌️

TheBizzyBScience that’s interesting! Keen to know if you work it out. I have the same drive in my amiga now and it works fine.
Just a thought but have you tried formatting one of the hxc images from the 950 before saving?
awkwardtom Yes I hear you I thought that’d be the way to make sure it worked too but it didn’t make any difference:(
Oh well looks like the lid will have to come off then at some point!

Sean Francis Finally, I got the answer and my S950 working beautifully. 👍 the solution is FF.CFG. Know what I mean?
Hello did you find a solution?
Omorfopaido hey ... no I put the floppy back in
