Today Sunday 19th September 2021 Jimmy Greaves passed away. Wonderful to be able to see both Ian and Jimmy together. Both were truly great footballers. Love and prayers to both families as Ian passed away on 1st March 2021. Hoping they are having a good kick around in heaven. We will never see their like again x
Considering Jimmy's well known battle with drink, I always wondered whether the inclusion of that photo showing him drinking a glass of milk was meant to be ironic. Still, RIP.
Was only 6 at this time so only remember little bits from saint and Greavsie. Brilliant show though and both sadly missed. Shame the bbc didn’t nab them from itv that summer. Oddly enough I was at that Man Utd Southampton game as well remember it clearly when Kanchelskis scored with about 20 mins left everyone went mental then it went to shit with 4 games in 6 days. One of the last games in front of the old Stretford end as well. Much better times than today.
England were lucky to be in Sweden they nearly missed out on goal difference to Ireland but England were saved by Ireland drawing their 2 games against Poland in the away match the Irish were 3-1 up with 15 minutes left and England were 15 minutes away from failing to qualify before a ball had been kicked at Wembley against Turkey but Poland scored 2 goals to make it 3-3
I miss this program!! And I remember that Brighton kit they looked like a deckchair!! And Luton had to leave kenilworth road in 1994, yet they’re still there!! But that was the reason they got relegated, selling their best players. What a time to go down though, the season before the start of the premier league!!
Yeah imagine if Luton had started building there own ground late 80s/early 90s and been founder members of the new premier League. Still once they get new ground could they be the 1st team to go from conference to premier League?
I remember it was Luton and Notts County that went down the season before the PL started. Neither came back up. Notts County may never come back. Luton could have a chance now though.
4 games in 7 days was just too much. That lost us the championship. And I went to that European cup final at Wembley. Crap game but brilliant occasion.
@@mrkipling2201 Agree - in many ways the old UEFA cup with 2nd-5th in many top leagues, an extra round and a two legged final was a much tougher comp to win.
This tune, Match of the day and the main theme to ‘The Match’ on a Sunday afternoon will never be beaten for the sound of football
The theme for S&G was originally for ITVs coverage of MEXICO 86
The Sportsnight tune on BBC Wednesday evenings was up there too.
The Match was called "Goal Crazy" by Rod Argent, great tune
@dingelberryhandpump7834 correct. The Big Match used it as their theme tune too from 1986 until 1988
didn’t realize how great this show was, watched it at the time and looking back now 31 years later it’s great fun.👍
Rip Saint Rip Jimmy the best and funniest football show ever by 2 proper legends absolutely brilliant memories and they still make us laugh today ...❤
Never knew either had passed

Jesus fiver a pint and 1 quid 20 for a can of coke in 1992, dread to think how much they would be in Sweden now

Jimmy was right about the 92 European Cup final 32:12

PeaveyPV20 it’s possible. They’re in the championship now so who knows??

@@gaywest4298 it certainly was along with West Ham. Luton has the better chance than Notts County, who knows?? Be a good story if it happens!!!
@@mrkipling2201 They need a proper investment. None of that 2009 rubbish. Nearly ruined the club.
SkySports killed football
And now they are the ones screaming defence of the game. Hypocrites.
They killed the people's game
Absolutely. Don’t go to games anymore. Bring back the old times.
Roy Keane playing for Notts Forest under Brian Clough. Would transfer to Man U a year later
Don`t make em like this anymore, these two are legendary.
Dean Holdsworth at Brentford, Dion Dublin at Cambridge👍
Football was a better place back then.
RIP Jim Legend
no crowd trouble in Sweden in 92 utter tosh been going on since the 80s crazy now
On 5th April 1992 I was 11 Years Old
Oh my goodness, what was Brighton wearing 8:18?
28:37 this one is for the laidies
Hot blonde at 29:04 not happy at being filmed
With de gea, too many what ifs. Who's to say what would happen. With the bell ends running the club things may not have been any better

And that's the last european cup game before the comp we all know today as the uefa champions league
StFidjnr definitely. Should still be for the champions only though. What do you think??
