It's a beast! Just got it yesterday, and I love it so much. I only used to ride some high-end rental scooters, and this ZT3 Pro is capable of surmounting such hill sI wouldn't dream of climbing with them (I'm a pretty heavy guy), but ZT3 doesn't even flinch.
Congrats on your new scooter! This thing is a hill crusher haha. Exceptional performance for a single motor scooter. Enjoy 😎
More powerful than the ninebot max g2e?
I really enjoy your reviews. They cover everything in real world situations. Great job and thank you.
Thank you so much!
Excellent review, as usual. Outstanding, Tom. Thanks again. 👍
Thank you! I hope you’re still enjoying riding your bikes around :). It’s starting to get chilly here in Arizona haha.
The chill has already arrived here in NW Missouri. 😅@tomsgadgetgarage
I put in 52mi this morning on the green belt, Tempe, Papago, and Old Town Scottsdale. I was thinking of going over to Camelback but ran out of time. At one point I was thinking, hey I wonder if Tom went to Camelback today?!
Haha! Yah I debated hard whether to get out of bed and venture out into the cold this morning 🤣.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Even with long sleeves and a wind breaker I was a bit cold for the first 2/3's of the ride. I had to stop and do push ups and squats on 3 times just to stay comfortable.. haha. Had a nice hot dog from the lunch vendors at the Ironman which warmed me up.
Nice haha. I could definitely use some push up and squats lol. Yah it really is chilly. I cruised around the neighborhood last night and decided I may need ear muffs or a beanie that cover my ears lol. Too cold for the desert 🤣
Cool!! I thought for sure you were going to make a lap and then come back up it again in boost mode... haha :D I thought it did great! Performance right in between the Apollo Go - 4mph and the Climber - 8mph.
Yup yup, not too shabby for a heavy, single motor scooter haha. I considered going up again with boost mode but it only lasts for a short period and you have to boost from a stop :(. They really need to allow boost activation from the custom button. The whole throttle and brake lever process is a little much.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Yes, the current boost engagement mechanic is quite silly. It should be a one touch feature that allows it to be reactivated as long as the controller and motor remain below a preset temperature. If it's a battery discharge rate thing (which I don't think it is) then Segway should have given it a larger battery pack in order to dampen the peaks in discharge. The way it's currently implemented, the feature is barely real-world usable and approaches gimmick status.
Btw, not a single reviewer on youtube has timed the boost mode. ESG threw out the mention of "about 30 sec" but when I watched their video, assuming there were no cuts, I counted 16-20 sec. I'd love to know what reality is for that "output level." I just can't call it a feature without feeling dirty.
Yah they need to put that feature on the red custom button. Jumping through hoops to activate is just too much. I don’t think it lasts 30 seconds. For me it was 10-12 seconds, but I can test it again.
That's a good number!
The battery management system (BMS) doesn't charge the battery at 4.2V, so you can use it to the full 100%.
If you use regenerative braking after the battery shows 100% in the app, the voltage per cell will be 4.173V - so, you can still use the battery safely.
That's great info! Thanks for sharing 😊
Hello Tom. Excellent Hill climb review. Thank you for all the details. And I see that you lost a pound. 😁
Haha thanks! Gotta keep it accurate haha. What funny is that I watched some of my early videos and noticed that as time goes by, my weight goes up. Too much scooting 🤣.
To me it seems like you changed your phone speedometer app which one are you using right now? Looks great!
It's the segway app lol
Hello! This time around I used the app that Segway makes. It’s got a great dashboard view but it only works for Segway scooters.
Nice!
Hey Tom! I was really excited to watch this video. Your review was great! Now that you’ve had more time with the scooter, how does it perform on different terrains like gravel and pavement? Have you noticed any changes in stability or comfort compared to your first impressions?
Thank you! To be honest, I like the scooter more and more after each ride. I have to do a trail test with it likely next weekend. I finally found some trails to ride around on which should give me a good idea of what it’s like to ride off the beaten path. Hard packed dirt and light gravel are no problem. I’m curious to see how it does on rougher stuff at higher speeds.
@@tomsgadgetgarage It might be worth examing how it respond to distance test off the beaten path.
Would be cool if you could do a review of the Nami Klima. Would be great to hear your thoughts.
I had the opportunity to ride one once and the suspension ruined my perception of what a good suspension is haha. Super plush and basically feels like riding a cloud (whatever that feels like haha). I’ve considered picking one up for a while. Maybe soon 😎.
Yeah the Nami Klima is about my 8th Scooter I've owned. After 2 minutes of riding it I decided to sell my other scooters. To me its the final scooter, it ruins the enjoyment for riding any other scooter and especially for its price point. Get one and thank me later, its the one. 😀 @tomsgadgetgarage
Haha! I’m definitely seriously considering it. I’m going to have to make some tough calls and sell off some of the ones I’ve reviewed already. I’m running out of room lol.
My ZT3 Pro on S mode beats my GT2 on single-wheel eco mode with max 25mph setting.
which scooter has made it the furtherest on this test so far?
So the Apollo GO, Punk Rider Pro, Ausom Leopard DT1 pro, Ausom Gallop, Segway ZT3 Pro have made it up. The original Ausom Leopard and Ninebot Max G2 didn’t have enough power to make it up.
How about the niu 300x? Did it make it up?
I'm undecided between this and the NIU KQi 300X 🙃
The biggest differences here are going to be full suspension vs partial suspension, great app (Segway) vs okay app (NIU), power, and weight. The ZT3 pro is significantly larger and heavier than the 300X. It also has better hill climb ability but falls behind on range.
@@tomsgadgetgarage my priority is range I'm almost 6 fits tall, and It's not for offroading
The 300X definitely wins on range.
Do you know a cell holder for this ZT3 scooter?
So the one I bought literally disappeared off Amazon but it’s the exact same thing as this amzn.to/40kuR09. You’ll need a Quad Lock phone case or an adapter to attach to your phone like this amzn.to/3UppMQg (affiliate links to Amazon)
My charger fried and am waiting on Segway to replace it but they said no replacements anytime soon. So my ZT3 has just been dead sitting around waiting for the charger.
Try find the exact same charger just get all the info off your charger and just make sure everything is the same there's other companies that sell the same chargers but check all the reviews before buying

Oh no that really sucks. That’s one issue with some newer scooter models…parts availability. Hopefully you can get one asap. Did it just stop charging or did it overheat or something?
@ overheated and died. Scooter still works at least
Yah I noticed the charger gets quite warm. At the charge rate it’s designed for, they definitely should have added some vents. I keep the charger on the cold garage floor when charging.
