I am not adventurous when I say that nothing happened during Cataclysm in Arathi. It was practically unchanged since Classic. They made big changes in some parts in BfA, but again, they made them only in some areas. It's like they did not know what to do with it. Even the music is just one theme. I really love the mournful themes they added here in Cataclysm. There's always been something about this zone, the grey skies and stones, its remoteness, that I find appealing.
Well said, I agree completely, especially regarding the “mournful themes” like the one this video opens up with. The gentle choir, the faint military snare, the swelling brass; really captured my emotions and imagination when I first heard it, and still does to this day.
@@VValkyr WoW, overall, is still enjoyable when playable, but with less ppl in it, normal or trolls. It's the real world that is dominated by hypocrites & trolls and (self-)destructive madmen &exploiters-parasites (but ppl perceive jobless ppl as that) that keep you from enjoying stuff. At least usually, that's what I observe (good luck understanding where the line is drawn between these and someone normal tho). And sure, the need for escapism pre-existed but with the grand spike/rise of confusion and acceptance of certain selfish angles and the fanaticism they bring, it's much harder to "hide" from these. Not entirely a negative thing tho, if only everyone was willing to confront these ppl and these mentalities... Btw, I've seen and confronted actual guides in game who were trolling and mocking new players. The sickness is deep and trendy. It's not the game, it's the people. Look at how bitter and provocative they are being, always whining and insulting and trying to project their idiocy onto others (whatever they do is holy and magically innocent -altho they are being all the things they can to draw attention and look down on the "weak" and different to them, etc- and above criticism, and whenever someone else does something totally not as petty and stupid as them, they throw a tantrum about how toxic others are to target and expose them). But ofc, even TH-camrs who try to cater to popular opinions are blaming the "SJW of WoW" and whatever company manages a game, for the nerf of tools they abuse to ruin someone else's time in a game (define "ruin" and draw the line between something funny and prankster-ish and the mass constant use of it (oh wait), but yh, I'm confident they can name the items they used to troll others, after all they have whined openly enough about some of them). p.s. the game used to be easily accessible, from potato machines. Many ppl ignore/underestimate that on purpose and keep asking for better and better graphics. I'd argue they want this game to die completely xD I'll be able to buy a new laptop soon and I'm fine with playing alone for a few months, but this game wasn't meant to be played exactly like this forever, which is where it's heading with decisions like these. I think most ppl chose and joined it for its style and variety, fantasy, animations, and not the innovative future graphics, back in the day and throughout the years. My 2c on the topic, I know some parts aren't expressed ideally and others may seem off topic according to who you ask, but ok.
@@spinosaurus2001 oh, 100%? that's quite rare, hmmm. (Let me fix that a bit maybe. Typed even more so there's bound to be something you'll disagree on.) Usually ppl ignore or mock when I even start to mention similar "analyses" based on behaviors like these (that mob mentality, in conjunction with exaggerations and false but absolute statements and views, which is big in many topics and I'm no expert on what kinds of ppl take advantage of it (from "bottom" up) but it's obviously the really weaker fools, who just join bandwagon 1 or 2 and try to feel accepted and strong, and think they're both tough/cool and blameless/innocent, on top of mentally superior ...whatever that means in each person's mind and why). This really isn't about WoW in the end. It's hard to do justice to all the craziness and double standards of ppl (it's not just the trolls of whataboutism and confusion, cynicism, etc that are immature and crazy and hateful) but at least I'm trying to both describe all the wrongs and fix something, and whoever gets what I'm saying each time... it takes certain angles and a willingness to be objective and realistic/"boring"/unpopular so it really is kinda rare to see someone saying they agree on even half the stuff I'm often rambling on about, since I obviously write about multiple stuff which I'm not entirely sure even I would get if I wasn't in the mood etc, but it's also due to how ppl always choose the quick and convenient way and don't really think (and if they do it's usually selfishly and, best case scenario, often objective enough as long as others' wrongdoings and behaviors/insecurities are concerned and when you point out something wrong they say and do they suddenly dislike you whether you mean well or not, and become unable to understand xD). Now, as for the situation and state of WoW, I've said enough here I guess (managed to say something similar to this in a paragraph or 2 instead, in a Warcraft Short where I think I saw your username btw xD) and I can't claim I do justice to all of it nor am I able to after taking too many breaks and never having played it in the way it's supposed to be played (endgame stuff; well, I'm not big in gearing chars and sticking to one, used to play only on a hunter each period I played back in the days of TBC and WotLK and Cata but then I tried more combos and so far I can't stop experimenting, lol). But I think I've understood enough after observing -plus reading comments on each xpack and what was valued and helped the immersion and feel of the game, and there are objective points in every view and opinion, even in some less serious ones- very different demographics in it and in general, online or off. If everyone focused on enjoying it (whatever good and regardless of its previous quality) instead of judging and triggering and exploiting each other and earning gold they'd automatically see it's mostly them that's to blame - I've covered long ago that I'm not able to enjoy it the way I used to myself, and why too, but I'm really working on it and, well, it *is* working if you remember the purpose of a game is to enjoy it and if you can't you shouldn't feel bitter about it. The (kinda forced) long breaks help too. Whoever is able to even login (especially nowadays) is pretty lucky and I wish they'd cherish that time (responsibly) instead of complaining and nitpicking and ruining others' time. Also, the reasons why many don't have in-game friends are obvious and vary, but if you're truly normal and open it's very easy to make new ones. I've seen certain old friends return and they had changed so much that we stopped chatting almost right away, and it made it clear to me it's really not the game's fault in the big picture... If anything, ppl I meet more recently seem to be truly nice and considerate (unlike some like those I mentioned above, they are kind during a period when it hold more weight and it's not as easy as before) and this may be showing I'm luckier (nah), a bit more normal and open (maybe), or that the game has somehow filtered the kinds of ppl who've stayed. It's unfortunate that most of us have to stay offline for longer periods tho, and it's sad to see each other being away for whatever reason (yes, the quality of the game included, but it's also all the other things I said and ignoring them only proves something about whoever does it and not about the game). But I guess it's making seeing each other online a bit more meaningful and appreciated, when we end up synchronized.
Oh wow Meisio, not only this region is one of my favorite regarding its biome ... but here you really found the spots to take the picture. The weather effects and lighting are really awesome ! Thanks again
I haven't looked into what happened here after the Battle for Stromguarde event, but it seems as though the kingdom is back and rebuilt? I hope so. Arathi/Arathor have always been my favorite Human kingdom and would love for it to return to its glory. Build out the rest of Arathi with some proper village hubs now! (Maybe it has, really havent played retail since BFA). I've always always said i want Blizzard to release a single player RPG game that takes place during the events of the troll wars.
I remember the first time crossing Thandol Span into Arathi. Walking up the bridge felt so epic. As a NE rogue it was quite refreshing after adventuring through the Wetlands. The best part of wow is that each zone is unique in its color and style, by the time you’ve had enough of one zone the next is there to change things up. Thanks Meisio!
i've always loved this zone i was so glad it got a proper soundtrack when they updated this zone. i have fond memories of hitting level 40 a couple times in this zone back in vanilla. even retail version of this game is always a must go-to
Arathi didn't have almost any visual changes, true, but the quests were fairly different in Cata. It also got one of the most complex zone themes/suits that actually fits the zone and isn't just literally "Classic snow themes but without the snow".
It's such a wasted opportunity that in Cata they didn't do something with that empty area in the hills on the eastern side of Arathi. What also bothers me about this zone is that Stromgarde Keep doesn't have access to the sea despite being located right next to it.
I was actually levelling in this zone last night and noticed a bit of Hearts of Iron music and Metroid Prime music in the first track here. It's odd but true!
Yeah guys, we are getting older... I remember the moment, when I was first time in Arathi Highlands.. I was there with a friend called risepolak. I still remember his char name. He was from poland, and he was something like 26yo. I was something like 13-14yo. I was even to dumm to understand, that his name was Rise - Polak (poland guy). I am realizing it right now when I am typing this.. xD He was like sh*t old granny daddy for me. Now I am older than he used to be back in the days, and I am like - wtf, 26 is not old at all.. xD Anyway, we spent a lot of time together. If you are somewhere there Rise, you still owe me that 300g I gave you for new bags! xD Do not even think I will forget about that..
I remember killing my first blood elf (mage) there with my night elf hunter a very long time ago. I think it was 2008. He was about 5 levels higher too. He didnt realize he was being shot at until his HP was 1/2 way gone. I was so excited. Up until then, I was ganked left and right by more experienced players.
