Wow thank you guys for noticing about the main cap not being degreed. I guess from working continuously for so many hours I managed to skip one. I will try to remove the pan in the car if possible and degree the bolts for that cap in the car. Great call that this was noticed before taking the car to the dyno.
I was about to say that too. I think you've missed it because you started to torque them not from the middle. Great that you are documenting all you do, and can notice when you miss something! Good luck with the build!
I saw and freaked out i replayed it three times and came down here to see this comment! It happens when filming i guess, glad everyone caught it! BIGBOOST-ARMY
Damn almost ever comment is someone saying that he didnt angle the second to last bolts. Glad that people are helpful and care about peoples builds. 💙💙
Yeah, people rave so much about not torquing down to 50 degrees the second bolt on the left so thankfully nobody made any comment on his English accent yet!
Everyone else is talking about missing the torque on a couple bolts, so I'm gonna ask about something else. How come you didn't upgrade the pistons to go with the beefy rods?
Awesome Big Boost can you please explain the process of prepping the block for the stroker setup and how you cut the sleeve area for the pistons clearance? Thank you awesome job I can't wait to see it dyno again!
untorqued main cap bolt, no bearing clearance measurements, no stroker prep, rings gapped too tight, filing rings directly over pistons/rods before install... I CANT WAIT EITHER LOL
4032 alloy pistons would be a good middle-of-the-road option, once you've saved up some coin. They are much stronger than stock, yet don't require the clearances of 2618s. They're not as resilient as 2618, but they have a much longer service life. Plus, with effective heat management (like alky-based fuels and water-methanol), you'll be totally fine. It's not like you're shooting for 1,000 or anything. 4032s are totally fine for 500whp on the 2.3 MZR Turbo DISI (Mazdaspeed engine), something I was told from the actual piston engineer at Mahle who worked in concert with an EXTREMELY reputable Speed platform shop in developing the 4032s for us.
Alberto Bigboost you can use coffee filter's for cleaning their cheap and and same as shop towels and did you clean the cylinder bore's really Good before you put piston in and one more thing is was all the oil passage we're clean out to make shore nothing in them like dirt or old oil in them . PS I was wondering do M52 have oil squirters on them or the old block has them ?
This is awesome! I was going to say he forgot to to the final torque on the thrust barring! Lol great peeps in here!! Sweet build vid Alberto!! Can’t wait for the next one!!
Are those piston heads ok, they look battered, wouldnt it be best to replace if youre doing the rods anyway, also i was thinking when you did the extra 50 degrees on the bolts, it would be bad if you forgot which you already did, you could end up doing the same bolt twice....then i think you missed one of the caps out? Didnt +50 degrees on one of them.
How do the shop towels go for leaving lint behind when wiping bearing areas etc?Thank you for the informative non rushed videos BigBoost .How do those inline 6 cylinders go for thrust bearing wear as a rule?
Is the thickness good on the connecting rod bearings and the camshaft bearings? Will they let enough oil to run through? Old Honda's used to use copper bearings.
he didn't do bearing clearances because a mechanic =/= engine builder. his videos are on course to be a lot of valuable lessons for us, saves the rest of us $$$ and time. guess he should have stayed at the shop and stuck to bolting on parts, changing brake pads, etc.
judging by this video and the last he never bothered to take any measurements. if you are wanting to know, most people doing a garage rebuild use plastigauge to get an approximate measurement. not the most accurate method, but much more accurate than rolling the dice -> another grenaded engine
thanks for the reply, yeah i feel the plastigauge method gives a good ball park even though it might not be completely accurate. Lets hope those mains are no to tight and the motor wont end up spinning a bearing with all the abuse.
Awesome videos man! They have certainly helped me out during my engine rebuild. I just have a question about the crankshaft sprocket orientation, I took off the sprocket and now that I'm reassembling everything I do not remember which end faces the block?
Alberto BIGBOOST 11 hours ago I don’t show every single step of the process on every build. I can show how to do that in another build that i have more time to get it done
crazyadhdboy16 it’s certainly looking that way lots of little mistakes. He also gapped the rings too tight for his application. These pistons will most likely break like the other ones.
360 degrees is a whole circle. So one whole turn. And instead of making a whole turn, you just make 50/360 of a turn. For example: At a circle of 3,6 meters you just go a lenght of 0,50 meters of this circle.
Wow thank you guys for noticing about the main cap not being degreed. I guess from working continuously for so many hours I managed to skip one. I will try to remove the pan in the car if possible and degree the bolts for that cap in the car. Great call that this was noticed before taking the car to the dyno.
Lucky!
Alberto BIGBOOST I was literally about to say you missed it! Good build so far!!
Alberto, get an engine cradle to hold up the motor and lower the subframe. Easiest way possible to allow you to drop the pan.
Yeah totally bro
Don't worry about taking time between videos.. Seeing this kind of information on building an engine is pretty rare in my opinion .. Love the channel
When did you check oil clearance? Just wondering if you did it off camera
16:45 you forgot to tighten two of the bolts my friend you might want to tighten those
I noticed that too! Thumbs up so he reads this comment.
You didn't to the 50 degree turn on the second cap from the left!!
Like this comment so he can see this!
Alberto you forgot to add 50 degrees on the main cap for the thrust bearing.
Think we all spotted that one. Hope he sees this and has not put the pan on yet.
The engine is already in and has been started like 3 days ago. He's so behind on videos.
nut busting garage. Well he can just pull the pan off and do it from underneath the car. Rather late than never :)
I had to rewind cuz I didn’t see him do that one too but wasn’t sure. Hope he fixed it
So happy to see big boost getting paid promotions and making that TH-cam 💸💸💸
I swear I was glued to the tv for the whole 30min!! awesome video BIG BOOST!!!!!!! I cant wait to see the dyno day video!!!
Alberto plz recheck main cap bearings. You missed 50 degrees on the one closest to back main bearing. Watch the video before tho motor gets destroyed.
DID YOU KNOW YOU MISSED 50 degrees on ONE OF THE CRANK BEARINGS!!!!!!!! second from left 16:50
That would suck, Hope its not too late
crazyadhdboy16 it's not blown yet, I'll side with BigBoost on this one. Come see me in a month
It's not that big of a deal. It's already cranked to 40ft lbs... If it weren't on, or was completely loose, that's another story.
You forgot the 50 degree on the second cap from the left!!
What brand are those rods ?
EDIT: Just googled the part number crs-5313-bm6 and they are eagle rods
at 16:50 the row to the right no 50° or did I miss something ?
Someone sponsor this man with a work bench!
Everyone else is talking about missing the torque on a couple bolts, so I'm gonna ask about something else. How come you didn't upgrade the pistons to go with the beefy rods?
Seth Wilcox don’t have enough money to upgrade the pistons yet
Alberto BIGBOOST makes sense
Yeah, he talked about the coin issue; it does make sense... dollars and cents ;-D
Yeah
Awesome Big Boost can you please explain the process of prepping the block for the stroker setup and how you cut the sleeve area for the pistons clearance? Thank you awesome job I can't wait to see it dyno again!
untorqued main cap bolt, no bearing clearance measurements, no stroker prep, rings gapped too tight, filing rings directly over pistons/rods before install... I CANT WAIT EITHER LOL
are those stock m54 pistons with upgraded rods ?
I want to know how much this setup held

Love your videos maaan . Never subscribed to a chanel before and now you're the first one ! Congratz ! Cheers from Quebec
That wristpin tip was a reallu good one never thought of that 👌
Just winging it with the bearing clearances? Not all rods are perfect from the manufacturer did you check any of them ?
These are the BEST videos! Wont miss an episode, glad they are here to watch!
I was JUST thinking about you!
You missed the 50 degree torque on on of the beating caps on the mains. Watch the video man. I hope you catch this before it's to late
Been working on an m57 at work for a while now, sure an interesting engine
Alberto Bigboost you can use coffee filter's for cleaning their cheap and and same as shop towels and did you clean the cylinder bore's really Good before you put piston in and one more thing is was all the oil passage we're clean out to make shore nothing in them like dirt or old oil in them . Florida life got to love the humidity
Are you using the original piston or using new piston?
Watching Alberto rebuilding his engine reminds me of me learning engine overhauling 🤗
You should have got your rotating assembly balanced for the new rods and different crank. Also should have checked bearing clearance.
You forgot to do 2 screws for crankshaft 2nd from left side!
crazyadhdboy16 shithappens when ur hyped and want to ride your build as fast as you can 😬
You skipped the second to last main cap when doing the 50 degree torques.
How do the shop towels go for leaving lint behind when wiping bearing areas etc?Thank you for the informative non rushed videos BigBoost .How do those inline 6 cylinders go for thrust bearing wear as a rule?
Where can i get that same impact gun that you always use. The little blue/green and red one, looks very handy
Shouldn't you dip the main cap bolts and rod caps bolts in oil before you torque them?
didnt measure deck flatness, bore ovality/taper, crankshaft end float, piston/rod weight, oil control ring gap or any bearing clearences?
Do BMW engines come with hypereutectic pistons?? That looks like a stock LS piston with coating on the skirts
Is the thickness good on the connecting rod bearings and the camshaft bearings? Will they let enough oil to run through? Old Honda's used to use copper bearings.
ARE YOU USING THE STOCK PISTONS , WHAT COMPRESSION,AND HOW MUCH BOOST AN THEY HANDLE
So glad he made the video so people could say he missed a main cap
Did you balance the new rods and pistons? Just asking since you got new rods and sometimes they aren't perfectly balanced.
Hey BIGBOOST, honest question. Was there a reason that you didn't do bearing clearances? Love the channel man!
thomas pflum was thinking the same thing.
Maybe checked it before final assembly
he didn't do bearing clearances because a mechanic =/= engine builder. his videos are on course to be a lot of valuable lessons for us, saves the rest of us $$$ and time. guess he should have stayed at the shop and stuck to bolting on parts, changing brake pads, etc.
Mastodon he has built plenty of engines I’m sure. Maybe more than you so please stfu.
I don’t show every single step of the process on every build. I can show how to do that in another build that i have more time to get it done
how did you get your main bearing clearances and know what bearing sizes to run?
tuurbow he actually knows about cars. Unlike you
judging by this video and the last he never bothered to take any measurements. if you are wanting to know, most people doing a garage rebuild use plastigauge to get an approximate measurement. not the most accurate method, but much more accurate than rolling the dice -> another grenaded engine
Adrian Nava tool
thanks for the reply, yeah i feel the plastigauge method gives a good ball park even though it might not be completely accurate.
I just blew out the head gasket on my car... BIGBOOST, I fly you out and you fix? yes? Add boost? okay
Great explanation Alberto! Love your disassembly-assembly videos! Greets from Serbia!
So are you just using a factory m54 crank to make this a stroker motor or?
Hey Alberto, where did you buy the King main bearings set for the M52? Can’t find them online.
cx racing con rods. I'm about to put mine in with wiseco pistons.
i know Taylor is drift dad, or not anymore since Alans dad really is drift dad, but can we all agree that Alberto is our Drift uncle?
Great work man... Thank you for taking the time to film and share.
Love your videos! I have an E46 323i (m52 engine). In your opinion, f I run 8-12 PSI boost, do I need to change any internals?
Love these type of videos, keep them coming Alberto!
BigBoost. What do you recommend. I beams or h beams
Are you using m54b30 pistons? And are those oem pistons forged? I am working on a future m54 stroker 3.2l supercharged build for my 330xi
You didn't to the 50 degree turn on the second cap from the left!
You didn't do the 50 degree turn on the second cap from the left!
crazyadhdboy16 we get it dude fucking shut up.
filing the compression ring over the piston.. isnt metal shavings inside an engine really bad?
Why file the rings over the pistons so the metal dust gets on the pistons?
what are the specs on the internals im doing a turbo m52 what brands and sizes? what are you running for valvetrain/cams
Alberto what is the piston tightening strenght on NM.?
About time we get vids out
u forgot to torque the sixth encap 50 degrees
A 30 minute Alberto video 😍😍😍😍
WOW!! dope video!! wich camera is?? BEAST quality
Why Stock pistons?
Is it only me or did you skip torquing a set of bolts to 50 degrees
Second set from the left
Hope he sees these comments. I'd really hate for his motor to blow up. I love this build!!!
@crazyadhdboy16 dude seriously youre annoying as fuck please go away with that shit
crazyadhdboy16 You’ve said this on every comment fuck off. The engine will be fine he actually knows what he’s doing
do you have a lisy of your internals and valvetrin?
Which crank did you end up using? S52/M54?
What do u gap the piston ring when u turbo ur motor?
Learning so much, your videos are amazing. keep it up BIG BOOST!
say thinking about you and hoping your friends and family in Puerto Rico are doing OK
does this block have oil sprays for pistons?
Sorry man but filing metal on other piston lol. Hope you give them a clean
what a kind of crankshaft in the engine ? M50B25 or M54B30 ?
You're filing the rings above the pistons, hope nothing drops on them and cause damage later on
What brand and size H-beam rods did you use in this build?
WHERE IS YOUR PLASTIGAUGE at for all those bearings? just gonna yolo it?
Joe Gardner he is like JUST SEND IT!! :D
Probably measured before final assembly. Dial bore gauge

I don’t show every single step of the process on every build. I can show how to do that in another build that i have more time to get it done
I hope he read these comments and fixed those two bolts!!!!
How much horsepower do theese oem pistons can make?
no piston forged?
He knows his shit.
which prand of piston ring you use for engine ?
Cool you smashed it with the timelapse 👍🏻
Can't wait to hear this thing hit red line
That awkward moment when BisForBuild has the same speech about the mobile game... Damn...
What crank did you put in?
Shouldn't he be wiping down the wd40 and brake cleaner which can degrease and degrade the oil?
Actually the piston ring gaps , should be 90 degrees from the piston bolt
What I like to do is put some rubber hose on the end of the connecting rod bolts to prevent the piston from slapping the journal's
Let us know if you went back and torqd cylinder 2 to 50°
crazyadhdboy16 lol
crazyadhdboy16 it’s certainly looking that way lots of little mistakes. He also gapped the rings too tight for his application. These pistons will most likely break like the other ones.
is it just me or did you not even plasty gauge your cl;clearances? even if is the same thing i always do that
What snap on torque wrench is that ?
What does 50 degrees of angle mean?
360 degrees is a whole circle. So one whole turn. And instead of making a whole turn, you just make 50/360 of a turn. For example: At a circle of 3,6 meters you just go a lenght of 0,50 meters of this circle.
For some reason I can only hear big boost's videos through my headphones.
Yes keep them coming!
What is the cost of the phone that you purchased?
What's the name brand and model of your torque wrench?
Nestor Velazquez snap on torque wrench
It is m50 engine block?
