Meet the Horseshoe Crab: Really More of a Sea Spider

- From their blue blood and collection of ten eyes to their six pairs of legs and lack of jaws, the Horseshoe Crab is an utterly fascinating - if occasionally bizarre - animal. A living fossil that's stubbornly remained unchanged for almost half a billion years, the fact that these marine arthropods are more like sea spiders than actual crabs is just the beginning of their strange superlatives.

They got blue blood (copper sulfate) and that's worth a lot to the pharma industry.
I heard about that but im not sure if it's true or not
Can we please not introduce these vibing guys to capitalist interests?
@@resolutionblaze363 can you cry
@@resolutionblaze363 Waaaaay too late on that front, Horseshoe Crabs are captured on mass and have blood taken before being released back into the wild again. It's used to keep our medicine safe from harmful bacteria etc.
@@resolutionblaze363there are horseshoe crab blood farms already if I remember it correctly.
I used to be terrified of them. Then an aquarium keeper stuck one in my lap rofl. They're pretty chill tbh
the epitome of "if it aint broke dont fix it"
And thats how Kabutops was made.
It's the closest living thing to the trilobites.
Also it's blood is super valuable like it's one of the most expensive fluids on the planet. It comes in at $15,000 a quart. Very likely we will hunt them to Extinction. Oh and their blood is blue because it's copper-based.
This is the most dangerous looking yet friendly crab ever
I love horse shoe crabs
Love these babies
Theyre cute
I remember Millhouse petting one of these. 😄
God didn't need to update this animal for millions of years
I have heard that horseshoe crab is delicious because of its blue blood.
Cant wait for kabuto to finally evolve into kabutops and put the fear of god into humanity or become our favorite pet 😂

If it ain't broke don't fix it
God's perfect creation
wtf lmao

Awesome creatures. Very interesting details.
If in Malaysia it is called 'BELANGKAS'
As someone who's loved dinosaurs since my kindergarten teacher gave me some fossils, i was overjoyed to find them on the beach in Florida!!! Totally living fossils, definitely a relative to trilobites.
And to those people who say this disproves evolution, it doesn't, it just proves horseshoe crabs didn't need to evolve
What would it taste like?
Like Spiders maybe if the narrator is trustworthy
I get nervous and twitchy when I see certain deep sea creatures and bugs/insects.
we all know what a horseshoe crab is
Thos horshu crabs suvived the dinosaur age
I heard it's because of their extra high copper context in their blood causing them to bleed blue
Bro the forgot the meta😂💀
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.😃
if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
they are more ancient than the human civilization
Living fossil
Awesome creature
but how do they taste?
Related to spider and ticks?
Cutest spider in the world
So their not edible to humans like our blue crabs and king crab 🦀🦀?
There’s literally a giant crab
A Living fossil
Nice. Not as scary as i thought.
Scp-169☠️
Pov: your the most boring creature alive.
can all the spiders and ticks go to the ocean, please
Their blood is worth some money too
Pokemon !
Are they edible
In terms of math & evolution/creation, im still waiting for conservatives/christians to call this fake/made-up.
And we r making them extinct
We arent, their protected.
Thanks to big pharma
@@lightborn9071Pharmacy industry fishes them up, and drains 30% of their total blood. They then release them back into the wild with little incubation time. 24 to 72 hours to recover from losing 30% of its blood. 10-30% die from bleeding process.
Also studies show that the bled animals are way more lethargic and slower. The bled females will often skip spawning cycles since they don't have energy to travel to breeding grounds.

Unchanged in 450,000,000 years. I think you just debunked evolution. Congratulations!
The reason it hasn't changed is due that it was never needed, you could picture it as a "well, this is the pinnacle of this species, there's nothing more to make them better than they already are for their environment", their conditions really didn't need them to evolve nor adapt
So evolution forgot to take place on this creature. So we can learn that evolution sometimes forget to take place though evolution doesn't keep record book and couldn't learn from their mistakes. Which God doesn't do.
Evolution only takes place when there is need for change. "Improvements" have more chance to stay, read survive.
