A lot of these motors noise is dictated by not the exhaust note. But actually valvetrain noise. Thicker cylinder walls, case, and. Head would all silence these things down much better then any exhaust could.
Yes. They do make insulated pads that are precision cut that fit inside the 3 plates, and they do help, but they are quite expensive for what they are. First world problems, right? LOL
I just made slapped a cheap motor on this exact frame! I already have a replacement yd100 cylinder that I want to port and a fat "racing head" for better cooling. Should be decent when I get it together. That rack in the back is great!
When you get these box store bikes do you go through them to make sure things are as they should be? I’m a bicycle mechanic and have seen some really dangerous things with them.

Just curious how you keep that rear wheel in like that. Cause I use the same frame and I fear that the chain will pull on the sprocket thus pulling out the wheel. Are you using like specific sturmy washers or something to keep the wheel in?
I bought the Yd 100 because it was in stock. Also would av gas be bad for it? Av gas is 100 octane with very slim ethanol levels or would it cause the piston to overheat?
Wow great video, very detailed! Quick question, I noticed u removed the fenders is it bc u had to, to add the hand brake? I hope not bc I have one & would like to add had brakes & keep the fenders. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank yo in advance. Kind regards, E
No, I remove them for safety reasons. If fenders are not maintained by the rider and reinforced, they have been known to cause damage to the bike and or rider. If you need a front brake to go over a fender, make sure you get one with a reach of 110mm and it is a BEACH CRUISER wide front caliper. These will clear fenders. Happy building, be careful with those fenders--its up to you, and thanks for watching.
Add brake over top kickstand just cut a bit of fender down low and bend new tab to bolt bavk down then add hand brake down in that area may have to improvise 3 inch tube and a hole

Dear friend, i saw at ebay's pages, 2 stroke motorized bicycles kits for sale-brand new, something strange. The 80cc motors have 2,5 Kw power (5000 r/min) . and the 100cc motor has less (1.9KW), due to the description. Why is that?

HELP! Im about to buy a kit , Is it okay to use 91 octane and 32:1 for break-in , and then 91 octane and 40:1 for normal use. Ps. I plan on riding for long periods of time. Thanks!
Hey Dylan. That's for watching. The best gas--in my opinion--is non-ethanol which is made specifically for small engines. The shelf life is twice as long and won't gunk up your carb over time. Beyond that, normal 87. The higher octane isn't worth it the what his engine is. Break in is up to you. I use 20:1 in most cases and limit speeds to 20 mph until the piston rings have had a chance to break/settle in. Hope that helps. Thanks!
Southern Custom CC thanks! Id like to run a bigger jet and better spark plug and performance cdi, and suggestions for those? And also is a big expansion chamber my best bet for an exhaust as far as performance goes?
Thanks for watching! The Mz exhaust is crucial. Then, depending on how much you want to spend, you could use a 40mm dio offset reed valve with an oko carb, or you can just get an NT velocity air stack and performance air filter. That is a good start. Hopefully that helps!
Thanks for watching! Personally, I think both would be good daily riders, but if I had to pick one it would be the yd100 because of the initial rear and torque. I am not a top speed kind of rider. I enjoy the ride and cruise. The yd pulls me off the line in traffic and it pulls me up a hill no problem. The 80 does the above as well, but the yd does it a little better. Now, with hay said...the 80 does ride smoother in all RPM ranges while an unmodified yd is jumpy at high rpm. So if you are a speed seeker, you'll want the upgrades to smooth out the yd ride. Either way, you can really go wrong...both do what they are designed to do well. Happy building and happy riding!
I currently have a run well pk80 i daily in the summer with some little upgrades and it’s nice, I keep looking at the YD100s to build a Schwinn chopper bike with.
It’ll be a tight fit, but you could get a yd in a occ frame. Just make sure you get an offset intake, some gas rated intake tubing, a different exhaust, and and extra chain and idler pulley mechanism. That will have so much torque you'd probably pop wheelies!!! Be safe and have fun!
There is nothing that you can't make work with this...except a CNC head. If you can do it with a standard pk80 base, then you can do it with this. Reed valves, carbs, magneto, timers, clutch, exhaust, coil...you name it and it's available.
Always keep a spare junk engine as a template.. Plenty of times I walked into Walmart or a bike shop with an engine in hand. You can gut the engine to make lighter easier to handle which is also easier on your cars interior when sitting on a seat or even the floor mats... You walk in the store and see what bikes the engine will be easiest to mount em on.. Got it buck wheat????
I figured the YD100 would do a little-bit better, you can buy a Zeda80 with a hi-performance carb/reed-valve/windowed-piston for about the same price as a YD100, so maybe with the Zeda80 you will actually get more for your money, IDK, great video, thanks for sharing.
I suppose you could do the same with yd100 it is practically speaking a bigger engine i think of this comparison more of like inline 3 vs inline 4/6 y es they will be similar but the same both might have good performance mods to and willl still be diff
Bro try the phantom 2nd gen that thing is sick.for being rite out the box it's low end and top end is really good man.i really really like that engine and with the yd 100 bottom end you can slap the chainsaw parts and upgrade to 54 56 mm piston set up the volt holes line up sweetly
Been thinking about a phantom but I heard it’s a big piece of shit, from what I’ve seen they are very hit or miss and for $270+ I’m not risking hit or miss, but I want to know your thoughts and if you’ve tried any other engines?
Bike and engine installed.. I'm not sure what the engine exactly is, but a fellow here in Billings, MT has the exact looking bike, with new motor, just finished and he wants 750...

And it would be more akin to will say a mustang with 4 cylinder versus a mustang with a V8 The little two cycle motors don't hold up very well. Mostly because of build quality on the lower end versions also it's a two-stroke so they tend to need to be rebuilt more often on top of that you generally have tuning issues for the common everyday person now it is a little harder to pedal the bike with us a little bit larger motor on it but it's not that much harder than the one with the bicycle motor kit on it

Hey I actually use the same bike to build motorized bikes, Just saying that bike you can direct chain the engine to the back wheel, its SOOOO much more durable those chain tension wheels suck and always end up getting loose for me and busting up my spokes.
Yeah, I learned the hard way after I busted a spoke. After I ditched the chain tensioner, everything works perfectly now. I had to match the chain lengths and that took a little trial and error though.
Sounds crazy, but if y'all want a stick of DynOmite up the tail pipe look into "AMSOIL" 2 stoke oil. I can put my hand on "The Book" and say WOW! it worked for "me" TWO whole AMA Desert race seasons no engine work in my YZ250 and my outboards, all small yard equip. More Power, Easy Starts, NO fouled plug ever, almost no odor or exhaustrecommendations
I will never get that bike ever again, it fell apart on me while riding it with a 2 stroke, first the handle bars fell apart and then the pedals, the pedal cranks could not be fixed by retightening or replacing. Id rather get a bike built for an engine than jiggy rig it and make it work.
Yeah in a Yamaha, not cheap Chinese engines, you obviously don't have one of these bikes no offense, yeah its 32:1 for these maybe 25:1 for a tank when new, they just aren't the same as your Stihl chainsaw or Yamaha blaster

Dude thinks 16/1 is lean lmfao it’s the opposite bud 50/1 is lean these engines like 30-40/1 when broken in I’ve had my engine breaking in on 20/1 on the first tank and I had gunk everywhere and the bike ran like shit out 30/1 in it next tank it ran amazingly and used that for 2 tanks then put 40/1 in it ran even better until it got stolen but yeah 16/1 is gonna foul your plug pretty quick and you can hear it in the video it sounds muffled and boggy
Your definition of lean, as applied to gas/oil mixtures is incorrect. 16 parts gasoline to one part oil is a lot of oil. Conversely, 50 parts gasoline to one part oil is what I would call a much leaner mixture, by comparison. Personally, all of my 2-stroke small engines get 40:1, kept fresh, and run regularly. Thanks for the video though!

STOP RUNNING 16:1 TO BREAK IN THESE ENGINES. YOU JUST END UP GUNKING UP THE INSIDE OF THE MOTOR.
Run 32:1 to break it in! Then switch to 40:1 - 50:1 once its broken in. It will work just fine.

How long have you been riding motorized bikes???
@NoNoNoNii look up Darcy Hemeon,Steve Luenz from Khaos Kruiser, etc,, and I bet you recant your ignorant statement considering you've never owned one...there's is nothing pathetic about a bicycle powered by Minarelli and DLH PERFORMANCE...and while you're at look find PedalChopper on TH-cam...nothing pathetic and your ignorant statement is pretty resentful it really is....
I bought this style bike and after 3 test rides with the 2nd generation phantom and rite at end under the rear brace for basket holder it snapped one side and I see a hairline crack on other side.and so we know the anbull is the same bore and is only 180$
Cheap bikes, I'd never trust those POS
A lot of these motors noise is dictated by not the exhaust note. But actually valvetrain noise. Thicker cylinder walls, case, and. Head would all silence these things down much better then any exhaust could.
Yes. They do make insulated pads that are precision cut that fit inside the 3 plates, and they do help, but they are quite expensive for what they are. First world problems, right? LOL

Valvetrain noise on an engine with no valves... That's a first lmao
No valvetrain in a 2 stroke engine except for stihls 4 mix engines
I just made slapped a cheap motor on this exact frame! I already have a replacement yd100 cylinder that I want to port and a fat "racing head" for better cooling. Should be decent when I get it together. That rack in the back is great!
When you get these box store bikes do you go through them to make sure things are as they should be? I’m a bicycle mechanic and have seen some really dangerous things with them.
Could the head and jug combination along with the piston, be used on the BT80 electric start engine ? 🤔 Thank-you in advance. 😶😶🤔😷😁
Hmmm. Not sure. Maybe someone will chime in with an answer. Thanks for watching.
Yeah you can just as long as the stroke and the size of the piston are the same

Can you spare an old cylinder and 49cc piston to an old man in West Virginia please?
Just curious how you keep that rear wheel in like that. Cause I use the same frame and I fear that the chain will pull on the sprocket thus pulling out the wheel.
Are you using like specific sturmy washers or something to keep the wheel in?
I bought the Yd 100 because it was in stock. Also would av gas be bad for it? Av gas is 100 octane with very slim ethanol levels or would it cause the piston to overheat?
Not sure what you mean by AV gas. You can use recreational none-ethonal gas which is 90 I believe.
Aviation fuel. Sorry for not being clear.
Can it handle 24 inch wheels?
Southern Custom CC thanks again for the great info. You have saved me a lot of time & headaches! Peace, E

Add brake over top kickstand just cut a bit of fender down low and bend new tab to bolt bavk down then add hand brake down in that area may have to improvise 3 inch tube and a hole

Stick with a Zeda80. They are a HP workhorse.
Dear friend, i saw at ebay's pages, 2 stroke motorized bicycles kits for sale-brand new, something strange. The 80cc motors have 2,5 Kw power (5000 r/min) . and the 100cc motor has less (1.9KW), due to the description. Why is that?
Those sellers have no idea what there writing it all depends on the porting and quality of the engines but generally 100cc is more powerful than 80cc
You’re recommending too much oil for the break in. The rings in the engine need to be able to seat.
what would you recommend for break in?
@@jonathankuhn7837 4 1/2 ounces, or 5 to 1 gallon of gas
What he actually says is backwards , you always break-in your engine using a ratio that is RICH not LEAN . Manufacturers used to have it written in their instructions to run 16:1 for at least 1 tank , maybe even 2 tanks , but from my experience (600+builds) it really is too rich . I run around a 20-25:1 mix for break in and actually sometimes leave it at 25:1 if its just a fun get around bike . Running one of these engines at 40:1 will have you have you buying a new engine real quick . You wont ever fowl a spark plug and you'll never likely cease it from running lean or hot in the summer months...What he says in the video at 5:35+ and after is backwards rich is 16:1 and you want extra rich when new...I'm sure it was just an oversite .

Just for the sake of comment - The yd100 exhaust burns clean and might give better mileage inspite of the bigger size?
: interesting that you say that because that thought had crossed my mind when I saw the smoke difference, but the specs sheet (accuracy is often questionable, i’ll admit) for the yd engine says 2.2 L / 100km while the specs sheet for the 80 says 2.0 L / 100km.

What upgrades would you recommend for the YD100?
Thanks for watching! The Mz exhaust is crucial. Then, depending on how much you want to spend, you could use a 40mm dio offset reed valve with an oko carb, or you can just get an NT velocity air stack and performance air filter. That is a good start. Hopefully that helps!
Great! Thanks!
How much did u weigh at the time of these tests?
Oh nvm lol I heard u saw u were 200 lbs
@@michellebanks3482 what
Which motor would u prefer to daily ride around on?
Be safe and have fun!
the 80 looks fine ,what is the difference in cost
Thanks for watching. About $30-40
Why would you compare a 66cc with an 80cc?
Overall still think the 80cc are way better out of hand you can do so much with them unlike the yd100 you can’t even put a better head on the yd100
th-cam.com/channels/PRPIP5uWB5cR8LgQq4qTDA.html
Has there been any new parts for the yd100? im looking for better performance.
There is nothing that you can't make work with this...except a CNC head. If you can do it with a standard pk80 base, then you can do it with this. Reed valves, carbs, magneto, timers, clutch, exhaust, coil...you name it and it's available.
What about the bt 100? What kind of mods can be done to it if any?
What about the bt80 vs yd100?
Can anyone tell me what’s a good motor kit for a 24in frame? Most of them I keep finding are 26in
U need to take few measurements to find out what fits in ur bike
The YD100 is held back more by the stock exhaust pipe and carburetor. Change those out and clean up the ports and it really comes alive.
Ok cual es mejor la 80 o la yd100 digame.

The little two cycle motors don't hold up very well.

What is the true displacement of these engines. Typical false advertising from China crap. I assumed that the 80 was 80cc and the 100 was 100cc but I guess that's not the case. Please enlighten me on the actual displacement of these engines.
