Simplicity is the key in order to create a sensational rich dish like this one. Do you agree?
A true winter favourite!
Semplicità e buoni ingredienti ... e amore! :)
Looks good chef but when you gonna make Puglian Donkey Stew? 👌
Hell no! I had to stop watching this one......... The dish looks like someone vomited in the bowl...... No no no no....... Do a shrimp scampi. Frying pan, olive oil, garlic, cook down..... Add raw de-tailed shrimp. cook, add lemon juice...... Salt /pepper, take cooked spaghetti pasta add to frying pan soaking up all the flavors.... add pecorino cheese, parsley, plate and enjoy...
@@johnm3067 I agree. Way too much olive oil and bread. It might have looked better as a crustini or bruschetta dish 🙅🏻♀️
I forgot about this. I haven't had this since I was a boy. Many gas ovens stay around 37 c or 100 degrees and you can dry your bread overnight as well.
Yes this is one of the dishes I used to have in my childhood 😍 I love it!
You can. Buy in Italian bakery
"Bread biscuits" I 4 get how to say it in Italian they come with or without cracked black pepper there light weight
I get the pepper
I like using them
I confess putting some in a bowl cover them with tomato sauce let it soak it up it comes put very near the same
Tomato mushy comfort heaven...
Or use cut up stale Italian bread too
@@vincenzosplate ME TOO ❤
I am with the writer, I completely forgot about this dish, but had it all the time as a child. My father was a superb Italian cook. I believe I’ll be making this soon to bring back memories of my childhood.
You prove once more the genius of Italian “Cucina di Povera”. Food created for hard times maybe, but fit for a king! This is an amazing flavourful dish.
This looks delicious. I love how you show how to make REAL italian food, none of the americanized stuff.
he's made a few Italian-American dishes before. but Italianised them :D
Oh many thanks 🙏🏻 I appreciate it
“You want to put cheese? Well, you’re not meant to put cheese. But you want to put cheese? Go for it, why not?”
Vincenzo, you better hope that Gordon Ramsay didn’t hear that. If he did, then get ready to react to his 12 cheese Pappa Al Pomodoro
Grilled cheese ptsd rn
😂😂😂😂 omg
This is one of the many reasons why I find Vincenzo's videos so therapeutic. He shows us how to make authentic Italian dishes, but gives us the freedom to enjoy those dishes however we like ❤
With peas!
When you used the whisk in a non-stick pan Uncle Roger put his foot down from his chair.
Looks delicious ! Bread & tomato sauce is the law ! So simple but wonderful !

Simple but perfect - the best way to describe Pappa Al Pomodoro
Exactly 😋
How much extra virgin olive oil do you want?
Vicenzo: Yes
😂😂😂😂
This just popped up. Id try it!
My grandma used to make a strange dish called pretzel soup, old pretzels milk butter salt pepper.
Give it a try, and let me know how it turns out! Your grandma's pretzel soup sounds intriguing too! Happy cooking! 🥨🍲😄
I'll definitely try this recipe 😋

Oh, I’m glad you loved it 😍 grazie
Making this today ❤️
Have you tried it? 😍
@@vincenzosplate yes!! And now I know why my favorite local Italian place has the best tomato soup; they were making Pappa all this time ❤️. I’ll be making this at least once I month. Thank you so much for your channel. My husband is Italian and I appreciate the culture so much 😍
I made it, it's soooo gooood 😋😋😋
In Germany we call such leftover dishes, dishes without leftover’s! Every grandma has such dishes in back!
Oh that’s great
This looks fantastic. Definitely going to try it. Of course I will be adding pecorino romano.
Great! Please try it and let me know!
THANK YOU 👍👏👏👏👏😋😋😋😋😋
My pleasure 🙏🏻❤️
Peasant food is the best food.
Oh yess!
3:30 looks like the tomato sauce made by the New Zealand master chef. Jokes aside, that looks amazing!
🙈😂😂😂😂
I like it with fried egg on top the yolk makes it nice!!!
Adding a fried egg on top of your dish can be a delicious and satisfying addition. The runny yolk can create a lovely sauce of its own. Enjoy your culinary creativity! 🍳🍽️👨🍳😊
Not only is this dish beautiful and delicious, but it is so affordable Brother Vincenzo.
****Sis Lynn
Oh yes! Everyone can maki this dish 😋😋
Vincenzo's Plate i love Italian cooking
Amazing! What’s your favourite Italian recipe? 😋
@@vincenzosplate bolognese pasta and pepperoni 🍕 pizza
Made this twice now when I was in a pinch and needed something easy and cheap to cook. Add some leftover sausage or mushrooms if you need the meat but it's the best bread porridge I've had
sounds great!
“Look at these beautiful tomatoes”
*stirring the onions*
😂😂😂 ops
♥️♥️♥️
You should give this recipe a try, so delicious.
Sei simpatico Vincenzo!
Grazieee
Those onions are beautiful tomatoes 🤣🤣🤣
Hahahha ops
Ohhh This looks fantastic! My Pop (American - Romanian Gypsy) makes a dish similar he calls Stewed Tomatoes. His only differences are that he doesn't mash it all at the end, he prefers the chunks of tomato and bread and more sauce, then adds a little bit of a particular type of gravy flour to thicken the sauce a bit, and a touch of sugar just because tomatoes are too acidic for him and will give him heart burn if he doesn't cut the acid. Is it authentic Italian? No but he's not Italian and not claiming it is, but I did see the similarities and would absolutely love to try this to compare.
I do hope you did give it a try, I'd like to know how it went. Yes food still depends on how we like it, I like that idea not to mash it at the end and keep the chunks, this is will more texture when eaten. Will definitely try this out!
@@vincenzosplate Haven't tried this one yet. I have tried your saffron risotto and it was superb.
👍
Your food looks delicious chef Vincenzo 😋😍 it truly puts my own food to shame lol x) but I'm learning a lot from you as well as Uncle Roger 😊
Have an amazing day Chef Vincenzo :)
Thank youuu 😍 are you going to try this recipe?
@@vincenzosplate of course 😍 I'd love to try all of your recipes 😊 it would be cool to see if you could make a dish that Pavarotti or another famous Italian person would enjoy 😊
What kind of vegetable d you use on the stock?
Those tomato’s look a lot like onions. How’d you get them like that? 😝
Love your recipes mate
Thanks! I was looking for that comment! Haha! Love you and your tomatonions, Vincenzo!
😂😂😂 ops
@@vincenzosplate it’s moments like that why you’re the most beautifully authentic teacher on the Tube mate!
That looks delicious, and a recipe I hadn't heard of yet. Your remark on serving this as a soup did make me curious, where/what is the distinction between this dish and gazpacho?
Gazpacho isn’t cooked! You put the ingredients raw in the blender to make it
The main difference is that gazpacho is not cooked!
@@vincenzosplate ah, thank you. I thought it was just served cold. I didn't know it wasn't cooked at all,
Can I use regular fresh tomato? If so, how should I adjust the recipe?
Yes, absolutely you can!
Thanks for cooking a Tuscan dish! Just like my relatives make!
It was a pleasure 🙏🏻
I'm gonna cook this this week. What kind of tomatoes did u use my friend?
They look like peeled canned Roma tomatoes.
@@Circuitssmith thank you
Amazing! Try it and let me know 😍

Vincenzo, I have a question about this soup: How is the texture? Is it just some soft mash?
Yeah
@@vincenzosplate alright thank you
Viva la pa pa pappa col po po po po po po pomodoro!!!
Che è un ca po po po polavorooo
Why does the bread have to be toasted? What happens if you add fresh bread without toasting? Thanks!!
Make cantuccini!! 🥳
Thank you for the suggestion!!!😍
Can I use shallots instead of onion? And add some spicy chili
Yesss
Gordon: I can put cheese in? Ok, I will put some peas, bacon, anchovies and a generous amount of worcersseresereershire sauce
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice video...btw how are you Vincenzo
Everything great! Thank you
Chi si ricorda la canzone di Rita Pavone, 1964, se non sbaglio, dal titolo Evviva la pappa al pomodoro?
Vincenzo can I use fresh tomatoes?
Sure
@@vincenzosplate 😊😊😊 I love all your recipes! They r simple and delicious 😋😋😋 but I have one problem I can't eat pork! Can you please tell me with what I can replace guancale in carbonara?
Would stale sourdough bread work?
Sure
This is the first time I've seen vincenzo making food without cheese. Looks amazing tho.
Food can also be delicious without cheese!
-Total Americanization- Meatball Parm in a Bowl. Bake with meatball and cheese. Repeat with Chicken Parm, Eggplant Parm. Some kind of Lasagne / Al Forno contraption… it’s a wicked Americanization but I think it could be an appropriate riff off of the original 🤔
I need to clarify this.
150°C is 302°F as nephew Vincenzo indicated. However, ovens can’t do 302°F. They can do 300F though.
I have a suggestion: give Fahrenheit temperatures correct to the nearest 5°F.
Adam Ragusea once did a video on the difficulty of showing two systems of measurement. The trouble when you start rounding, is that some things get rounded up, others down, and others not at all. For many recipes that might not matter, for others these small differences might add up. So, he gives the recipe in one system (American, unfortunately) and gives the exact number in the other system. It might be a bit awkward, but people watching can round the numbers themselves.
@@bakerzermatt This is true but we’re talking about temperatures here.
Thank you my friend
Where’s the cheese???? 😮
No cheese for this recipe!
it vegetarian since the bread has egg in it and veggies don't eat bread so to eggs being used in making the bread. It dose look good and I agree it's budget friendly when money is tight.
Bread is not made with eggs!
I love that. The Spanish have there own version. I’m assuming only pane italiano to be used
