I don't know if you still read your comments, but this was very helpful!. As a consumer, I like videos that are straight to the point! Withing one minute of your video, I was done changing the batteries in my unit! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write positive feedback. It means a lot to me to hear that my efforts to make a video actually helps people. I love that. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I have tried for the past week to figure out how to replace the batteries and was about ready to call an A/C company to come replace the batteries. Followed your instructions and within less than 2 minutes this old granny managed to complete the job. Thanks again.
So I totally waited to late, came home from work to a chilly house and a blank screen. I’ll definitely come home with batteries tomorrow and, with your helpful video, get those batteries replaced. Not the time of year to be without heat in Colorado! Thank you!
Just want you to know this video saved me tonight. Temp was up to 80 and air wouldnt come on. This video allowed me to handle the situation and i didnt have to call a repairman!!! Thank you sooo soo much!
I love when my video can help save money. The programmable thermostat is usually a very convenient device, but when those batteries go out then it will not work at all and the temperature in your house will be unacceptable.
THANK YOU!!! I kept trying to find this explanation on the Honeywell website and they would not help me unless I made an account and registered my thermostat! Your explanation is very detailed and worked perfectly! I doubt I would have figured this out on my own.
I spent three days trying to figure out how to take off the cover so I could replace the batteries! After watching this video, I replaced them literally in 30 seconds! Thanks very much!!
I love when my video helps people how to figure out how to fix or replace things. In this case, the batteries must be functional at all times and must be changed otherwise the house gets very cold.
THANK YOU so much. Home alone tonight and the "replace battery" light came on. Googled for help and your video popped up. Watched it three times and it worked like a charm!!! Thank you so much again.
This was excellent ! My husband is away from home so a lot of these things land on me to figure out.. this demonstration was excellent ! So simple and easy ... thank you !
Awesome instructions! Thought I was going to have to call someone... but after watching your video, I had the battery changed in about 3 mins! Thank you🙌🏼
Thanks for the video! If anyone's AC wont start up immediately after changing the batteries, try letting the thermostat sit in off mode for a few minutes after connecting it back into the wall mount, that worked for me! (not sure why)
Oh yes, that is a very good point that you make. Sometimes the programmable thermostat needs to be placed in the OFF mode to let the HVAC system resynchronize and get all reset so that it can work properly.
Thank you so much. It is a little tricky to get it off, but with your video, I got it accomplished! I have Honeywell RTH7500D. Was kind of scary as I was hoping I wouldn't damage anything. I'm good to go for another year or two. Great video!
Excellent video and thank you so much - it prevented much cursing and swearing this morning. I did see the "Press" option afterwards but I like the way you did it - because now I can see how this thing is mounted. Thanks again
Thank you! I had no idea a low battery could shut the system down. I'm a renter with an absentee landlord. So this helped me fix it myself without having to put out an APB for that guy to handle a bigger problem. Much appreciated!
I would like to thank you immensely for making this video! I'm in the middle of a super busy, challenging time in my life. Starting a new job, taking care of my husband that has been on dialysis 5 years, and a mother with dementia that I am taking care of. When this units "battery" started flashing I panicked because I don't even have time to barely breathe. So thank you thank you thank you so much!
I love that my thermostat video helped you figure out the heat so quickly. In the midst of so many things that bring pressure and stress in life I am happy to know that you were able to find this video. I actually recorded it while helping my parents get their home system working again and knew that this might help others too.
Thank you so much! Why do they make everything so hard for old people? 🤣 Mine took AAA instead of AA so it must be older than the one you’re showing, but I did it thanks to your video. I appreciate you posting this.
I am very happy to hear that my video helped you figure out how to get the batteries changed in your Honeywell Thermostat. Thank you for making such a nice comment. I love that it helped you twice already!
For those of you that do not have a pop out battery pack (See Brent Lewellen) this instructional gives you the awkward method to change your battery. More so it gives you the confidence to do the unintuitive. Good instructional.
So greatful for your video --------- my air went totally off - Houston , Texas - going to buy battery's tomorrow - my screen was totally blank - so hopefully - new battery's will fix it !!!! AndSave me a service call - THANK YOU !!!!!
Please note: there is a WAY easier way to do this. The battery compartment actually just pops out the right hand side. No need to take the unit off the wall. Look at the top right and you will see the word "press". Do that and the battery compartment slides right out.
Thank you for showing the "hard way". We bought this house and did a top to bottom remodel. We figured out the "easy way" (thank you TH-cam) but the thermostat was installed narrowly between new door and new closet trim and the trim blocked any wiggle room to "press and slide to the right side". Thanks for posting and thanks for commenting.
Thanks Brent. I found that compartment, pressed the top and the battery compartment came out very easily. I had the new batteries in and back in 60 seconds!
once i watched this video about 4 times we were ab.e to change the batteries, and even tighten the unit snugger on the wall, thank you because were here the rest of the month and just got here, 29 days to go thanks brother. your a friend for life.
You did great Sir. Professor of the Thermostats! Medium amount of force .Thank God you said so cause i was going full force cause i was intimidated at first . I almost gave it a left hook followed by a tripple jab rite into the two finger eye poke!!!! Frosty Life 4 Life. She is so cool!! Thx again Professor!!!
Do you have any suggestions for a Honeywell with no obvious place for batteries? I had a power outage last night and lost my programming. Worse, the furnace would not work until I hit a few keys.
I am very happy when my videos can help people. Stay warm now, and thank you for taking the time to tell me that this video helped you get your thermostat working so that your furnace can warm up your house.
Great video ty I hv same Thermostat, my heat not working, the pins on the cover if one snapped off would tht be the cause for not getting any heat? Plz plz help me Desperate & frezn Ty
I really am not sure. If the plastic cover is only missing a little plastic hinge then I do not think that would be the problem. Try shutting off power to your furnace and then wait a minute and turn it back on (if you know how to safely do so). That resets it. If the furnace does not maintain minimum safety temperature (as you set in your app) the the problem is the furnace, not the thermostat
If that happens, you either need to remove the access panel and read the trouble code, or you need to get a service technician to diagnose your furnace problem. There could be a number of various issues. Make sure your furnace is getting air from the outside and venting to the outside and getting gas.
thank you so much. I did it! Also I did the push button on top right for just the battery compartment. Now i will check to make sure i am still selecting cool. Glad to get this done as it will be really hot today.
Great video, thank you.. Now do a video on how to fix it if you DID wait too long and came home from camping to a blank screen. (asking for a friend ;))
Great suggestion! Blank screen means the power from the furnace is either not hooked up or the batteries are dead. If new batteries are not giving you power, then call Honeywell, write to them too, email them and write on their social media site on Facebook (that is how I finally got help).
I am VERY happy to hear that I participated in your ability to get your house warmed up. It means a LOT to me that something I uploaded helped you get your house warmed up again. Stay warm and thank you so much for your comment.
I love my video helped you get your house warmed up again by helping figure out your thermostat. I now always keep extra batteries for my Honeywell thermostat.
Hey, Thanks for this video. I did your method and it probably worked as fast as Brent's method. What was important is your commentary about what would ha[[en if I forgot or ignored the message. Going on a vacation soon and coming home to a broken furnace would have been a downer. Thanks so much for offering your expertise.
I am very happy to hear that my video helped you with the Honeywell Thermostat battery replacement. A few years ago I was out of town and my family got very very cold because I had ignored the battery message.
I have the Honeywell Model 3400. Screen without warning just went blank and says to replace batteries. I still have the instruction manual! However, not one word on how to remove the thermostat from the wall plate and changing batteries. If it so so complex, why is not even one word about the process in the manual? Perhaps a rhetorical question, but I really do not want to follow these instructions since i have a different model. Thanks.
Found out from HVAC vendor: you just pull straight out by the thermostat. Did successfully. If had pulled from top or bottom may have broken. Should be in manual.
My furnace guy said that - before accessing the batteries as in this video - you should turn off the thermostat and even the power to the furnace. I guess that in the furnace there is a little breaker that can possibly trip if the power is on while changing batteries. Just a FYI. Nice video - I was not confident enough to just rip the unit off the base without some reassurance.
I am very happy to hear that my video helped you figure out how to get the Honeywell Thermostat working again. Thank you for making such a nice comment.
I am amazed at how the design of this system will allow a dead battery to completely shut the system down, making the heat or air conditioning stop working at all.
It seemed like there should be an easier way, so I looked at another video that explained how you can easily remove the battery on the right-hand side. I'm glad I didn't try to pull the whole face off since I'd be afraid of breaking something.
Thank You I did Exactly What you said/ did ‼ TH-cam University has done it again 🙌💞 I'm in class ❗ Q: Is it best to service unit once a year ? Landlord hasn't since I moved here almost 3yrs ago ❗ 😁
Yes, I would change batteries every autumn before the heating season if I am ever away from home. It is much better than having it fail, that is for sure. I am very happy to hear that they video helped you.
The model shown in this video appears doesn't need to be removed from the wall to replace the batter... it appears the battery holster releases from the housing... regardless, informative video and just as easy to do it this way.
oh no! i waited to the screen went blank and now my system is shut off. I replaced the batteries but am still getting a blank screen. do you have a video to help with this? what do i do? It's hot down here in Texas :/
I have never seen a black screen after replacing the battery. Are you sure the battery is in correctly? Is it a fresh battery? Did you replace the parts back in correctly? A good battery should get it right back to normal. If it is not, then there is something other than the battery that has a problem. You might need to call your repair man if the battery replacement does not make it start working. I only know how to replace a battery.
I have the same problem. At first , the screen said "low bat", so I replaced with new ones. But the screen still said "low bat." Would be nice o see if there is a reset on the unit.
I just replaced the batteries, it is lighting up but the air isn't coming on. Does it take a few minutes? It says cool on. It's 91 in here and I put it at 80.
Check to see if your system mode has been selected to the COOLING or Air-conditioning Mode. Dead batteries may have caused your thermostat to default to a heating or off mode. I think the manufacturer of your thermostat may have a help line for questions if you cannot figure out the mode. I am pretty sure it is simply the mode that needs to be selected (heating or cooling).
My women's gym A/C stopped working. An A/C guy came out and couldn't determine what was wrong. I googled "thermostat not working" and the results were Low Battery. The display did not show low battery but when I pulled the cover off, the batteries were corroded. A bit of cleaning and new batteries and we were cool again. Not so experienced A/C guy I think. . I got some bragging rights from "fixing" the A/C.
It is so rewarding when we can figure things out like that. It is always worth looking to see if there is anything we can do. This thermostat was in my Dad's house when I was visiting and the A/C did not seem to be working, so I saw the opportunity to make another HOW TO video. I love when I can help others with sharing what I learned.
venniey I've been trying to figure out why my thermostat still has a blank screen even after changing the batteries then I read your post and I realized I needed to clean up where the batteries corroded. Thank you! More bragging rights for you! I'm so happy right now I can't stand it!! 😀
I am not familiar with other models of Honeywell, but I do not other brands have a built in rechargeable battery. Look for a model number and look up an owners manual online, or contact the manufacturer for clarification.
I have the same problem. At first , the screen said "low bat", so I replaced with new ones. But the screen still said "low bat." Would be nice o see if there is a reset on the unit.

Just noticed the blinking Battery Low alert on my thermostat. Had no clue what to do. This video made it clear. Thank you so much!

Thank you! Batteries installed. I had no idea where to start until watching your video.
we are very happy to be a part of the solution for your Honeywell Air conditioner thermostat battery replacement.
Thank you Frosty Life and Brent. Very helpful. And it's always good to know more than one way ...
Thank you Sooooo....Much!! Just got home from work, dead looking thermostat, I PANICKED!! Watched your instructional Video, presto!! Working!!😃
thank you! Couldn't locate my instructions...so this video saved us! It's hot outdoors!!
These directions were really helpful. It was pretty easy and now I feel so competent! Thanks.
Thank you! I had no idea a low battery could shut the system down. I'm a renter with an absentee landlord. So this helped me fix it myself without having to put out an APB for that guy to handle a bigger problem. Much appreciated!

I'm glad I watched your video before tackling the job. I was well prepared; thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to write a comment. I am very happy you got your thermostat working correctly.
Thank you sooooo much for your tutorial I ran out got batteries and was able to fix it with your instruction. Kudos to you!
I am so happy to hear my video helped you figure out how to get your programmable thermostat working.
Thanks for the video. I changed the batteries after watching you. Thanks again.
This TH-cam is very good. Showed me exactly how to change the batteries.
It is amazing that dead batteries can completely shut down the air conditioner or heat. I am very happy my video helped you so much.

thanks. I have a slightly different honeywell thermostat, but your instructions worked with mine.
I am very happy my video helped you figure out your Honeywell Thermostat battery replacement. I smile knowing that I was able to help someone out.
Thank you, your instructions are easy to follow
Thanks for a very helpful video! You are a great teacher!
I love helping people. I am happy to hear that my video helped you get your thermostat working correctly.
Thanks a lot. I know I've used your video before but did not get to click like. I've used it again tonight to change the battery. Very helpful video.
I am very happy to hear that my video helped you figure out how to get the batteries changed in your Honeywell Thermostat. Thank you for making such a nice comment. I love that it helped you twice already!

Thank you so much! I struggled so much and then I watched this and it was so easy! Yay!
Your demonstration worked perfectly, it was fast and easy, many thanks!

Yeah! Your video allowed me to change the batteries without having to call someone to do it for me!
we are very happy to be a part of the solution for your Honeywell Air conditioner thermostat battery replacement.
Not the same exact model as mine, but you showed me what I needed, grip and pull out from the bottom. Thanks!!
Thank you for this video. Knowledge is power - and a cool house. It's extremely hot in Texas.
Oh yes, even if the thermostat is out for a few hours it can get very hot inside the house.
Good job. I was able to change the batteries. Very helpful. God bless you and your daughter who I think appeared at end of video.
Please note: there is a WAY easier way to do this. The battery compartment actually just pops out the right hand side. No need to take the unit off the wall. Look at the top right and you will see the word "press". Do that and the battery compartment slides right out.
oh my goodness, I will check that out
Very nice Brent! I found the Press and popped the batteries out easily.
Easy! I found the "press" button and it popped right out! Thank you!
you guys are all even smarter than me hahaha
THANK YOU! Done.
Thanks to this video and the Brent Lewellen, I was just able to replace my batteries with no problem at all.

Thank you for this video. Was able to do first time.
Thank you! I was frustrated. Your instructions were perfect. All fixed now. Appreciate it!
I am very happy to hear that my video helped you figure out the battery replacement for your Honeywell thermostat.
Thank you for this! Perfect for me when hubby kept forgetting to do it (so did it myself).
Very very helpful, just changed the batteries after watching video and working perfectly fine 👍🏻👍🏻
Do you have any suggestions for a Honeywell with no obvious place for batteries? I had a power outage last night and lost my programming. Worse, the furnace would not work until I hit a few keys.
I actually got rid of my Honeywell recently because of how often it failed. I got a NEST thermostat and much happier.
I'm glad I found this video. I was grabbing the face plate wrong. So simple.
I am very happy when my videos help people with figuring out how to replace the batteries in their Honeywell programmable thermostat.
Thanks!! Much easier than I thought!
Thank you! Heat turned off as a result of dead battery, without your tip I was lost!
I am very happy when my videos can help people. Stay warm now, and thank you for taking the time to tell me that this video helped you get your thermostat working so that your furnace can warm up your house.
Great video ty
I hv same Thermostat, my heat not working, the pins on the cover if one snapped off would tht be the cause for not getting any heat?

I really am not sure. If the plastic cover is only missing a little plastic hinge then I do not think that would be the problem. Try shutting off power to your furnace and then wait a minute and turn it back on (if you know how to safely do so). That resets it. Thank you. I did it by following your instructions. Perfect.
Thank you that video helped a lot.
Have a great day..
Thanks for the instructions - they worked for our model. Our 2012 model does not have a battery compartment that pops out the right hand side.
I hope this video helps everyone with their thermostat.
I did this and it worked. Before could not get the numbers come up when I put it back on. Thanks!
Excellent! You saved me from freezing!
It was my hopes that I could save people from getting a very cold house. Keep warm and thank you for taking the time to write a nice comment.
My heater shoots cold air and can will not turn off. Any idea what might be problem?
If that happens, you either need to remove the access panel and read the trouble code, or you need to get a service technician to diagnose your furnace problem. There could be a number of various issues. Make sure your furnace is getting air from the outside and venting to the outside and getting gas.
Dude you saved my life, THANK YOU.
thank you so much. I did it! Also I did the push button on top right for just the battery compartment. Now i will check to make sure i am still selecting cool. Glad to get this done as it will be really hot today.
I am happy to have been a part of helping you get your batteries replaced and getting your air conditioner working again.
Wounderful explanation.
Thank you so much! I couldn't figure out why my place was freezing and now, I'm well on my way to thawing out :)
I am VERY happy to hear that I participated in your ability to get your house warmed up. It means a LOT to me that something I uploaded helped you get your house warmed up again. Stay warm and thank you so much for your comment.
Frosty Life
When I got back home, my place was a good ten degrees warmer! I'm very happy, thanks again :)
I am very happy to hear that my video helped you with the Honeywell Thermostat battery replacement. A few years ago I was out of town and my family got very very cold because I had ignored the battery message.
This video IS extremely helpful! Also, Frosty Life is also correct: she may not immediately kick in: Give it a couple of minutes....
Thanks! Not identical model, but helped me see that I wasn't breaking unit. Super quick fix.
Great video. . I didnt have to call my son to help. Thanks.
I have the Honeywell Model 3400. Screen without warning just went blank and says to replace batteries. I still have the instruction manual! Thanks so much, exactly what I needed to twist it off without breaking anything: )
Thank you. Saved the day!
Thanks a lot my mom
is straight now! 😊
I love helping people
Great video, changed the batteries due to this video. Thanks so much!
we are very happy to be a part of the solution for your Honeywell Air conditioner thermostat battery replacement.
It worked! Thanks for the video.
Thank you for this!! Total lifesaver!
I am amazed at how the design of this system will allow a dead battery to completely shut the system down, making the heat or air conditioning stop working at all.
2020! thanks! for posting! This Video! To you- tube& the internet....
It seemed like there should be an easier way, so I looked at another video that explained how you can easily remove the battery on the right-hand side. I'm glad I didn't try to pull the whole face off since I'd be afraid of breaking something.
Thanks because i had no clue how to take it off
Big help Bro. Thank you!
Thank you! My wife thanks you & I thank you!! Very helpful.

Thank you for that extra information. Yes, it is good to have two ways to replace the battery.
Solved my problem Thanks!
My Honeywell had a very tiny screw I had to loosen first. Took me awhile to realize that.
It is vertical, not horizontal and it is a Pro 2000 Series.
oh no! i waited to the screen went blank and now my system is shut off.
You might need to call your repair man if the battery replacement does not make it start working. I only know how to replace a battery.
I have the same problem. At first , the screen said "low bat", so I replaced with new ones. But the screen still said "low bat." Would be nice o see if there is a reset on the unit.
Thank you so much!! You just saved my life!!!
Very helpful indeed! Thank you.
I am happy to hear my Honeywell thermostat video helped you get your programmable thermostat working well
get my heat back at the freezing night. Thank you so much.
Saved the life ♥️♥️👍🏻👍🏻
Doesn't the batt compartment come off stand alone?
Thanks so much!
Well now, that was easy !
I love when I can help others with sharing what I learned.
venniey 😁👏👏puss👏👏👏
venniey I've been trying to figure out why my thermostat still has a blank screen even after changing the batteries then I read your post and I realized I needed to clean up where the batteries corroded. Thank you! More bragging rights for you! I'm so happy right now I can't stand it!! 😀
Pulled off the thermostat and there are no batteries being exposed. Any chance some models don’t take batteries?
I am not familiar with other models of Honeywell, but I do not other brands have a built in rechargeable battery. Look for a model number and look up an owners manual online, or contact the manufacturer for clarification.
I changed my batteries and now it won't come back on the batteries are good i tried them in something else any suggestions
I have the same problem. At first , the screen said "low bat", so I replaced with new ones. But the screen still said "low bat." Would be nice o see if there is a reset on the unit.
