Also, if you have metal rollers, I'd highly recommend swapping them out for the white, sealed nylon rollers he shows in this vid. A complete set can be had for less than $20, and they are MUCH quieter rolling up and down in your metal tracks. Great video!

A simple QR Code on our stickers that we place, that redirects to this would be amazing. Much love from Atlanta Franchise.

It is really an Linear P800 product but Precisions name is on it. The opener is a belt drive unit and I can hardly hear the door opening and closing now. What a difference from my old worm drive Genie! I highly recommend this company and the products that they sell.

As most others mentioned ...great video. I'd also highly recommend homeowners ensure all "bolts", used to secure the garage panels, track, assembly, etc., are properly tightened. Regardless, if door made of wood or metal, one should inspect all "bolts" ..and, if loose, tighten, but be careful not to overtighten! The fasteners a.k.a. bolts work themselves loose over time & doing an annual inspection ...in addition to proper lubrication, are important. Also, if you unable to securely tighten a bolt due to being "stripped out", try filling hole w/ a few toothpicks & break off at surface then tighten ...AGAIN, don't over muscle when do'in.

    Excellent video. Thank you.
One safety feature I would add is to wear safety goggles, not glasses. Spraying into small channels have a nasty way of, sometimes, redirecting the spray into one's eyes. I discovered this decades ago spraying carburetor cleaner into a, what else, carburetor port. I was careful to turn the carburetor 90 degrees from my face when I sprayed. Didn't know that that particular port exited at 90 degrees and the spray coated my face. Lesson learned, the hard way.

I work as a garage door technician, and I gotta say, that lithium grease spray dries up and causes the door to get stuck sometimes. We don't use silicone based lubricants. The oil based shown on the left works well. Doesn't leave a mess and doesn't dry up like the lithium grease does.

This was in my recommended this morning and what is totally weird about that is I haven't done any searches on the subject on my phone or computer, but I was thinking to myself this morning as my wife left for work that the garage door was getting pretty noisy and I needed to do something about it. I've had the chain break on a garage door once before at a place we were renting. It was either the chain or the spring, I don't remember exactly. I do know however, that I would rather spend the little bit of money for some lithium spray lube instead of a garage door repair. Thank you for this timely (for me) video. Which I'm still trying to figure out exactly how that happened.

I agree with the other comments about torsion springs (and, for that matter, any coil springs designed to support more than 50 pounds). The amount of potential energy stored in these springs while under load can maim or kill if released quickly. In my opinion, anywhere these springs are installed should have a DANGER! warning sticker nearby, similar to those for electrical hazards.

  • @Michael-jv2cn

In a lot of cases on older doors I would clean the old gunk off BEFORE lubing with fresh, new grease, otherwise you are just greasing up your old "grinding compound".

The presentation was great, Gus. I like your NY accent too. (Long Island?) Could be a north Jersey accent. The company jingle sounds like it's from the '70s.

Thanks for such a informative breakdown. Also for keeping it light heated for such a bland topic.
