10 Things You Probably Didn't Know You Could Do In Skyrim

- Calling Skyrim a large game would be an understatement, it's massive! Not only in scale but more importantly in the choices that are given to us. But being as large of a game as Skyrim is, it can sometimes be a double-edged sword. Although there are so many things that you CAN do, only a fraction of them are well-known!
So in today’s video I hope to fix that by showing you 10 things that you probably didn't know you could do in Skyrim!

#skyrim
this is one of the first "things you may not know about skyrim" videos that i actually didn't know most of the things! good job!
I'm afraid I knew most of them. I guess that makes me a bit sad.
I've encountered all but the first of this batch in my own travels. I'll have to give that soul gem emptying trick a try next time I play.
I was about to say the exact opposite but oh well lol
Suuuure
botted coment sad!
7:35 "Things you can do in Skyrim but not in real life... talk to women."
I hate what he's saying, but I have to admit, he's damn right.
Trial and error my friend
and the modders comunity women taste are all finer there are mommies, loli elf, and lots of widows to talk to and have fun with a bit of ecchi animation mods.... hence why skyrim is 20yrs and still going strong lol....
Sadly right 😅😅😢

I am so glad you are making Skyrim content. And even more glad that people are watching it. I hope this community never dies

Legends never die but Starfield sure did
@@Grombrindal >calling starfield a legend 💀
It never will die. Especially with the power of mods.
@@Grombrindalyea those two things have no correlation
In addition to the mudcrab, you can actually get a pet Skeever if your home has a basement. When you trigger the random infestation in the basement, one of the Skeevers is not hostile; if you let it live, it will stay in the basement as a friendly pet (and also prevents that event from triggering again).
Or a pet fox

@@justapug6396 Of course, everyone knows where children come from in Skyrim, they are brought to people by foxes.
To the opposite of the courage spell, you can use pacify on enemies and potentially have unique dialouge with them because they would usually be hostile around you!
i used pacify on deer but sadly they don't talk.
Ooh I’m gonna try that
@@CallMeMimi27I wonder why😂
@@Original-Alastor probably because they're shy.
I use calm on animals in Skyrim but I usually kill them before the effect wears off
You can start a murder investigation in Skyrim. If a particularly large amount of NPCs are interacting with the body sometimes a guard will step up and say "all right everyone, step back. Let the law handle this."
They'll even approach you and question you, which can even lead to you being arrested depending on how you handle it.
Yooo how?!
@@thereesebonneau Not entirely sure how, it seems to be a triggerable event. (like when dropping armor in Riften and npcs start fighting over it) But a requirement seems to be having a large number of people interact with a body in a short period of time. (It triggered once when 3 npcs crouched next to a body and did the "What happened" thing within a couple seconds of each other while a guard was nearby to witness it. Then the guard stepped up and started questioning people.
The guard will even have special dialogue depending on whether or not your weapon is drawn while he's questioning you.
Overall it seems petty rare, I've seen the headless horseman more times than this event. And it definitely isn't a mod, I remember it from vanilla Skyrim on the xbox360.
@@goatslayer3160 okay thanks for the response
@@goatslayer3160 NPCs can fight over armor!?!?
@@xavierfaust9417 Sometimes, drop a piece of armor from your inventory in the Riften market and they may battle to the death over it.
There's a Thalmor disguise/outfit outside of the first dungeon West against the cliff beside a shrine of Talos.
There's some just inside the embassy too, when you go through the last door and he locks it behind you, close the door to the left, and move up to the right; outfit just inside.
@@christophertaylor9100 that one doesn't work, it does not have a hood, it needs to specifically be the hooded thalmor robes.
it wasn't there in early versions
I've killed Gissur in every single one of my playthroughs since 2011 and the Thalmor are always in the ratway regardless. I don't think that one's true, cause you find a dossier about Esbern that states they know he is in Riften already, just not the ratway specifically.
This has always been my experience as well.
Yes there will always be Thalmor in the Ratway, however if you don’t kill Gissur there should be Thalmor who appear in the ragged flagon as well as the Ratway
He's half right. The Thalmor will still be in the Ratway, but there's a high level Justiciar with 2 soliders that are at Esbern's front door interrogating him if you spare Gissur.
Same here he may be mistaken on this!
#7 is wrong. If you kill Gissur (I always have and never knew he would show up later actually, which is arguably the lesser known option). He will be replaced by a female khajiit who will attack you when you leave the ratways for the first time after joining the thieves guild and learning the location of Esbern. And later you will still be assaulted by a Thalmor party.
Yeah I definitely killed that guy and they ambushed me all the same
might need a mod like unofficial skyrim special edition patch, to change that and got confused.
With USSEP, a Khajiit woman will attack you in Riften, but there won't be a Thalmor party trying to lynch you and Esbern. The only reason I know this is because instead of sneaking through Diplomatic Immunity like a normal person, I Red Wedding-ed my way thru the embassy and killed everyone who was non-essential.
I finished with a 9,000 gold bounty in Solitude.
Literally tho
@@philipc3221Sweet
The Gissur one seems to be false, in my recent playthrough I killed him in the embassy, the Thalmor showed up in the ratways nonetheless
Yeah I think it's false too, every time I've killed Gissur during the Embassy quest Thalmor have always turned up in Riften because they already know before the quest that Esbern is there that's why Elenwen send the argonian (I don't recall her name, Shivary or something) to Riften as an assassin to stop us.
@@geehammer1511 I'm pretty sure the assassin was a khajit
@@vulcanitu2578 yes you're right. Idk why I got that wrong but I did lol
696969% false if I recall correctly Gissur talks to that Thalmor about them having another informant and how that informant has already given them intel so I don't see how killing Gissur changes things and besides every playthrough you're kinda forced to kill him and the other blokes anyways.
Yeah I always end up killing gissur but I always have to clear the thalmor out of the ratway anyways.
I guarantee the Soul Gem trick is a bug and not an intended mechanic. It works with every weapon holding any "charge". If you drop Dusk/Dawn Blade, the kill counter is reset too, and that's definitely a bug.
Also : I'm always killing the Nord talking to the Thalmor, I didn't even know he could live. But even if I kill him there are always Thalmors in the Ratway waiting for me when I go see Esbern
Also n°2 : Pets of Skyrim lets you get a little quest from Calcemo allowing you to get a little mudcrab pet in Dwemer armour
Yeah its a memory saver, so they don't have to keep track of all the trash, they just reset it to stock when its out of your inventory
So on diplomatic immunity I believe if you have a high illusion you can actually disguise as an agent while being a Bosmer or Khajit since they are affiliated with the dominion
Illusion or speech?
Probably speech and then the race helps pass the speech check
the disguise also works on dark elves, just not as well, you can walk around the embassy, but when you try to talk to someone they'll realize that you're sus.
it's rare when I run into a tip I haven't discoverred already. and using Courage on Critters to keep them from running off so you can hunt is a new one.
here's a tip for YOU; you can pick up a full Thalmor set right away for both the embassy job, AND getting on their good side. head left after exiting the Helgen escape cave. once you get back to the main road. not only will you run into the bandit camp with both a treasure map AND a skill book that someone is looking for a copy of, just past it you'll see a log ramp that leads up to a Talos station that has a dead thalmor waiting to be plundered for both costume and blood to get the elder scroll later AND you can grab a blessing of Talos while you're at it. one of the victims also has the Hooded Monk Robes that are probably impossible to get.
7:10 good tip but if you're doing a stealth build you can instead pickpocket the gold after each training. just make sure you quick save before each pickpocket. This is a lot better because leveling a skill 5 times wont level you up , but 10 times it does. so you can just do that for a around 10-15min and get pickpocket 100 and a high level on whatever you're training
How to get gold back without pickpocket?
@@Muhammad_Hanif_1 I know I'm late but you can use the paralyze spell, then when the person is getting back up (as soon as they break free from the effect) pickpocket them. The chance to steal will show 0%, but you can actually just take the gold without it being marked as robbing. You can even be seen doing it and they won't turn hostile and guards won't attack you. If you don't want to level alteration you can use the serpent stone power or the ice form shout, but these can only be used in trainers that are Friends, as any other will immediately turn hostile if you use any of these two on them
@@senskrad5860 for the latter, it also worked with unrelenting force at max charge. though it will also make the trainer hostile, (which disables pickpocketing), i find that using the calming spell after shouting at them will pacify them again and will allow me to pickpocket while theyre still stunned. Though this only works if no one else is seeing you, because everyone else tends to turn hostile when you shout at people. I used this technique to level on places like Arcadia's cauldron where she's not necessarily a friend or a follower, but her shop is empty enough.
Only works with followers or merchants
That is a very good idea my brother told me to do the same thing.
The spiders are pretty common knowledge, you walk right past the spider crafter on the way out of the dungeon. What a lotta people miss is that you can use mind control spiders to get unobtainable items like tsun's armor, neloth's robes and shoes, elisif's fine rainment, the red hooded robes from the face sculptor, torygg's clothes, unhooded archmage robe from the mage in sovngarde, nazir's clothes, and a couple unique jarl clothes.
I had no idea about the spiders and I have thousands of hours in game.
#8! How the hell did I not know about this?! 1000 hours in this game and it's the only thing on this list I didn't know, but that's hilariously awesome.
I love that even telling us the things we can do, theres not too much info or step by step guide to doing them. Leaving the viewers curious to investigate themselves. Well done
"drop a valuable item on the ground, and watch as people begin to beat the ever living shit out of each other" had me cackling, and astonished at the same time.
I agree I should actually try that sometime
Tho it is a nice mechanism, it would be better if the soul gem could hold multiple lesser (to how large the soul gem, souls can hold) to be fully filled, for example lets sat that you have an big soul gem, then this soul gem could hold 4 lesser souls, and the grand woul gem can hold 9 lesser souls and so on. How do you like that idea?
I assume that full gem would have the same recharge regardless of type of souls inside, but the type of soul would affect enchanting since it would consume one (biggest) soul from the gem destroying rest(and the gem) in the process
If that is the case it would be more or less balanced.
And azura(or black) star should hold infinite (or at least 10 grand souls) amount of souls to make it an item worthy of calling daedric artifact.
The fact that ive read "(X) show on map" probably 100 thousand times by now and never thought to yknow.... Push x and go straight to the marker makes me feel like something
😂 I'm sure I've done something similar, just not coming to mind at the moment. Probably not realizing I could hold down the shout button for more powerful versions once they are unlocked. I'm Fus-ing, when I should be Fus Roh Dah-ing! 😂
In the Xbox version of Skyrim, I beat it as a High Elf recently. I didn't know I didn't have to kill the Thalmor to work my way through the embassy. It would have been nice to know I could just look for some hooded Thalmor robes
This is a very good list. I had no idea we could do most of the things you said. Great video!
I can say I honestly never thought of using that while hunting. idk if I'm impressed that I actually saw something new in such a video or ashamed that it was something so damned simple.
At least it wasn't the view on map feature. :D
That courage trick is new to me too, but its kind of obvious. Just never thought about it
I knew about the map one, spider, and the riots, the others i didn’t. Good job!
My favorite game of all time 😁
You’re my favorite Skyrim TH-camr lmao “and if you lost all self respect…” 😂
I once was playing a necromancer playthrough and I had adopted a daughter, well I didn't want my little girl to know I was a necromancer so I had always kept that life hidden from her. But what came next left me shocked, yet horrified but yet somewhat proud.
I returned home one day and what my daughter had for a pet left me speechless. Somehow she must have gotten into necromancy behind my back and when I came home I walked into the house with her and her Skeleton greeting me, but this was no ordinary skeleton missiles, a small child skeleton....... I have no words to express how I felt....

"Skyrim let's you do things you cannot do in real life. Like talking to women". Dead🤣🤣🤣🤣
another thing you might not know is when you build the cellar in the manor s sometimes you will get rats. If you kill all but one and leave the cellar it will become friendly and no more rats will spawn.
This worked in the original Skyrim and I haven’t built a house in the newer version so I don’t know if this still works or not.
Wow never tried that
Happened to me a few days ago, still works!
I think the map one is the only fact that everyone here knew.
I think the riot thing only happens on Riften, it's a nice mechanic to distract everyone while you're trying to pick a lock or steal something very handy while you're with the guild. And it's very funny to me that Mjoll keeps boasting about Gratitude and Trust and keeps saying that she's Riften's protector but will cut down anyone who stands on her way for a few dropped flawless gems.
In lore, you aren't actually releasing a soul. Whenever you soul trap, it is a contract with the soul cairn that in exchange for a soul, you get unharvestable magic in exchange. That crabs soul is in hell right now.
With how many mudcrabs I've trapped in soul gems, I'm comepletely certain that the ideal masters are all mudcrabs
A well-deserved fate.
Omg! Mudcrabs are the best pets for the kids…they are quiet, and are alway tidying up the place! I get so excited when Blaise finally gets his crab! 🦀
Is it only the boys who grab mudcrabs? Or do girls grab it too
i always thought the foxes were better bc when i saw lucia bring a fox home as a pet it made the home better and more peaceful without the need for annoying mudkrab sounds
@@Arronic lol…I think you might have it backwards,,,my mudcrab is very quiet, with the occasional tiny sound when it sinks into the floor, which I love…☺️,,,when my daughter brought home a fox, I thought it had asthma! For girls, though, the bunnies are cute and quiet ☺️🤔
One thing I found out literally a few days ago was that you can favorite items for use in a quick access menu, all my years of playing Skyrim since release, I would continuously go into my inventory to change weapons or use a potion, my mind was blown to bits
I noticed on my first playthrough lmfao
Me too!! It's great if playing on console. I just put my questing gear and either smithing or alchemy gear in there. Very convenient for returning to and leaving town.
U R HANDS DOWN THE BIGGEST NOOB IF U NEVER DISCOVERED THE QUICK FAVS OPTION DAY 1. SCRUB FOR ETERNITY
My daughter brought home a fox for a pet. My son brought home a skeever. Not a mudcrab, a freakin skeever. Also, I dropped a few grand soul gems, picked them up, still filled. Not that I needed them to be empty. My game has a mind of it's own, been that way since day one, and sometimes it likes to show me what tripping out is like.
Lol my game is similar. Felt like I was in a RAD storm the other day while exploring the north. Everything went green and stormy. 😂
@@RealBradMiller That would be cool to see! I saw a guy on a horse lift up into the air, and then just started flying off into the distance, and then a mammoth fell from the sky and died. lol
Also, with 4, if you do that side quest before infiltrating the thalmor embassy (diplomatic immunity), he will create a diversion for you. 😂
I have a pet skeever in my basement, I don't think it's supposed to be a pet, it's just docile and won't attack, it just kind of walks back and forth, so I leave him be, had him for years
if u wear the robes anyway in diplomatic quest and just not show the guards your face as a nord, they will say "oh your new" you just cant get close or they go agro. Staying away from them will allow you to just chill like a fly on the wall
#3 has a few variables. In some cases if your despisition is high with the citizens it’s more likely that someone will pick up your valuable item and come and return it to you, saying ‘hey, I think you dropped this!’
Fall damage I’ve watched since your first video thank you for the great videos and keep doing what your doing
Skyrim is considered massive til you climbing a mountain and the game says "You cannot go any further"
I've extensively used the "show on map" to see where a quest is at from day one.
Here’s another thing you can do that you probably didn’t know about. You can frontally execute friendly NPCs and they will continue to talk while you stab into their shoulder. Like if you kill a guard with a dagger frontally, they’ll say something like “guard might get nervous; a man approaches with his weapon drawn” while you’re eviscerating them.
I feel like the easier thing for locating your cursor when you lose it is to just not make it white like every other icon. Make it customizable or at the very least make it a different color than the others
Honey wake up, Fall Damage uploaded a new Skyrim video👀
Of the throwable spiders, the Oil Spider is the most impressive…
Get six of them to swarm your enemies and lay down some oil trails, then shout ‘Yol’ or lob a fireball or other fire spell in their direction and it will ignite all the oil and the spiders die, break apart and continuously carpet-bomb the area in a chain reaction for about 10-20 seconds. I’ve always thought it good to use in a narrow passageway in a Nordic barrow against a group of high level Draugr; makes really short work of Scourges and Deathlords.
Avoid the ongoing holocaust yourself though because the explosions will make short work of you, too.
You could also avoid leveling the skill too much, then get trained and pickpocket the gold off of them in their sleep, leveling two skills at the same time.
Ohh thanks for this! I’m on a replay with mods for the first time since launch. So much fun
Loved every second of this video and sent it to everyone I know who plays Skyrim.
Thank you for making a video of things I genuinely didn’t know
About the Thalmor agent. He his even open to assist you, in your mission when you have to infiltrate the Thalmor embassy. He'll make a distraction like the many others if you get on their good side. Quite neat guy, if I daresay
That soul gem tip just fixed my current playthrough’s biggest irritation. I can’t believe I’ve been playing since launch and this is the first time I’ve heard of this.
Those two "Diplomatic Immunity" ones are news to me and make a lot of sense now that I think about it, but I already knew about the Training, though, I mostly use the Train-Save-Pickpocket Trick, you get double, sometimes even triple training in one fell swoop with that, you jus shoot up the Lvs! And my adopted daughter, the first time I encountered that, brought home a fox, though, one adoptee did also bring home a mudcrab, every time I went home, I had to remind myself NOT to kill it on sight! You know, force of habit and all that!
Fall damage I love your videos, please don't stop your hard work, it's truly useful for my own playthrough ❤
1) 12 years and i had no idea you could do this. I always just made sure i had a dozen of the smaller ones to avoid the problem. OK i'm in for the rest of the video.
one thing i never saw anyone talk about: on the pc while lockpicking, if intead of A or D you hold W+A+S+D together, the lock will rotate a lot faster! if you have the skeleton key or that final perk that will make lockpicks unbreakable, this will make lockpicking absurdly faster in the game
Honestly love these videos. And I have to say your voice is a great part of the pleasure of watching them.
I too once pronounced it "Juice-tee-karr" but if you think of the root word, "justice," you will find the proper pronunciation is "Just-iss-ee-ar." The Thalmor agents you talk to in game pronounce it correctly, if you need to hear it.
1:40 i thought this was a known feature lol
I played Skyrim since it came out, I never knew you could take a soul out of a soul gem by dropping it
The soul gem tip suprised me lol I had no idea you could do that!
You can put magelight on deer. It's so stupid and I love it.
3:32 oh and here’s another one, in a new source for stalhrim you can actually befriend the thalmor agent instead of killing him, basically setting up a business deal where you get stalhrim gear, bring it to him, and he pays for it.
I never knew the map thing! Also the programmable spider thing! Can't wait to try the spider thing
I know Skyrim since it's Release and had no Idea about #1! So many weak souls were locked in my nice Gems!!!
#7 could be interesting to try out!
Holy, that first one is actually super helpful
I probably knew half the stuff, but things like the soul gem and the courage spell seem super useful
Thank for actually a list. Other videos would have 9 things everyone knows then Dave one thing for number 10. Number one was crazy and I'm 11 years into the game.
There is another way to get your gold back from trainers, even ones who aren't followers. Usually you need a fairly high pick-pocket skill to not get caught, but if you first paralyse your target, you can pick-pocket them even if detected and you'll have a 100% success rate (so long as there are no other witnesses). The trainer may act they're scared of you the next time you meet, but they'll still train you. If you don't have a paralysis spell, enchant a really weak weapon like a knife or fork with paralysis and use that so you don't accidentally kill the trainer.
I'm, like, 99.99% sure that first one's a glitch, not intentional design.
I can’t believe how much of this I didn’t know ❤️
No2 yeah you think this is frustration I played morrowind, there are no quest markers, only description how to get to the place, sometimes if you are lucky and you need to get to the town it will be marked on the map. When half of your gameplay is search for correct dungeon or you missunderstood direction, than could be frustration.
Nah kids these days, in my times i used to scroll manualy to get information I needed.
The first one, about soul gems didn’t know and it’s an interesting one!
Number three, also didn’t know about AND sounds like hysterical fun!! Sounds like one of those *must do in Skyrim* list sort of things 🤣😂
I actually used the valor one the first time I used illusion magic. I thought: Maybe the spell will make the animals be brave and attack me. And effectively, I was pleased to see I was right
6:05 I like the extra loot for the thalmor in esberns cell, usually a decent price at the vendors up top
"My" daughter brought home the bunny, which I accidentally killed in the basement of Heljarchen Hall, when Skeevers came to visit. Only then I had found out that the bunny has a name, and that is "Cotton" (and I am one of those who goes back to an older load so it is still alive 🙈). Shame that a few things just never work on the Switch. Dropping high value items get ignored and are still there weeks after I have dropped them. Second playthrough and I got the same bunny being brought home by my kids 🤣 But I have the dwarven armoured mudcrab - so that's even better. And Meeko. And the nymphs. And the dwarven horse ... *trails off in the distance ....*
I was fighting alongside Faendal the other day, when he was knocked down just as a giant clubbed him, sending him into the atmosphere.
Search & rescue are still trying to recover -my dragon scales and bones- his body.
The Gissur one is kinda wrong, killing him in the embassy won’t stop the thalmor from being in the rat way and you will alternatively be followed and attack by a female khajiit, Shavari
Didn’t know about the soul gem one, the rest I did, I play too much
I love this game forever
I never new that Giscer was actually supposed to be alive in time for the quest to find Esbern. I encountered him during the Diplomatic immunity quest, where I simply stumbled upon him and his Thalmor buddies and he tried to attack me. Obviously I killed him and the others.
When i was new to skyrim, at some point i did in fact- NOT kill Gissur. So when i spoke to the bartender in the flagon, i didn't notice Gissur sitting somewhere.
He promptly leaves upon hearing the conversation, and when you re-enter the Flagon with Esbern, Gissur and the Thalmor will attack you.
That i did not memorize or properly notice, hence my years of expecting Thalmor in the Flagon... And no Thalmor. I eventually just kept killing Gissur.
One time my kid had
2 mud crabs
The journal thing took me far longer to figure out than I want to admit😂
I've been playing since 2012 but only found that out 2 years ago
I am slowly trying to turn my latest character into a bit of a pack rat. I am using the camping mod so he can travel all over the place and have placed a backpack and a bunch of pouches on him. I forget which other mods I have up but improved loot and player homes and followers like Inigo and Lucien are some of them. I have Ineeds which mostly doesn't bother me but sometimes I have a drink before I sleep and still wake up with moderate thirst. Still trying to level him up enough to travel to places I never got around to with other builds but having plenty of fun.
This video is very helpful, loved every second of it.
1 and 5 were new to me. Finally one of these videos was actually telling the truth!
Upon entering riften you can take down a skooma drug deal. But instead of doing it right away and finish the civil war quest; Macen Black briar will be appointed as new thane and you would have to report each incident back to maven.
they didn't "added" removing souls, they just made only full soul gems and empty soul gems as items
and i also used paralysis instead of courage (and you can use paralysis to steal the gold from teachers too)
Thanks. I didn't know the soul gem trick
I'm impressed. I legitimately did not know about most of these.
You don't even have to open the map before opening the journal. Just press start to open the journal, select your quest and press X, it will then open the map where you need to go.
Just bought skyrim ae with the creation club mods. The new items, quests and things you can do make it feel just as cool as the first day i bought it
i have the special edition (the first release) on PS4 and still got those. they were part of an update.
Your content is amazing and your voice suitable for the Skyrim universe - just don't ask me why
What microphone to you use it sounds very good
The soul gems trick could have saved me thousands of gold worth of soul gems
I love how he reads out the entire description in the start of the vid
The animal a child brings home must be random. My kid brought home a friggin' skeever.
Adopted boys either bring home the mudcrab or the skeever, adopted girls either bring home a fox, a snow fox, or a rabbit.
@7:39 things you can't do in real life. SAVAGE!!! 😂👍 subbed for relatable content
POV: Argonian walking disguised as Thalmor agent.
Guard: Mister your tail is sticking out of your robe.
For years, I used to start every campaign by walking to every major city so I could fast travel. It didn't even occur to me that I could use the horse carriage. 🤣
