The Crimson-rumped Waxbill (Estrilda rhodopyga) was photographed on July 21, 2023, at Nairobi National Park in Kenya.
Small grey-brown finch with fiery reddish patches on its body. This species distinguishes itself from other waxbills by having a bright red brow and a similarly coloured rump. Habitats both dry and wet areas with dense tall and grassy vegetation. Associate with other waxbills and estrildid finches. Native to eastern Africa, but introduced to Singapore and parts of Japan.
