    • @amorestperpe
      @amorestperpe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Stopping an airplane requires the same amount of energy to get it up to said speed. If it used more than half of the runway, they wouldn't be able to safety reject a takeoff. Especially considering engines put out more energy than brakes dissipate, meaning you need more runway to stop than take off.

  • @shooter591

    After the Tenerife 747 collision, I thought the word ‘Departure’ had replaced the words ‘take off’ in order to reduce confusion and increase clarity.

    • @STIStuff
      @STIStuff 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ‘Take off’ is only used when actually cleared for takeoff, never before IIRC. In Tenerife it was said and incorrectly acted on.

    • @spudeeelad
      @spudeeelad 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      brian hobbs what others have already said is correct - “cleared/clear for takeoff” is what you need to actually takeoff and that’s the only time it will ever be used, with the exception being “cancel takeoff clearance”

      I just bought x plane 11 but I seriously have no clue what to do with bigger planes and when my mission is succesfull ☹️ Maybe there are answers on the web that are more thorough than in the game itself.
      I have it on my phones too but that plays differently and I still can’t figure out how to file a flightless and to follow it. Ok I only got it a week ago so maybe I want too much...

    This is eerily similar to how the worst aviation disaster at Tenerife in 1977 played out...
    Just like here, there was a PanAm 747 trailing behind a KLM 747 and the KLM reached the end of the runway and turned around for a takeoff. Unfortunately the PanAm was till taxing in the runway( just like it's shown here in the video) and didn't get out of the way in time, due to heavy fog the aircraft couldn't see each other and they collided on the runway resulting in the deadliest air crash in history.

    Runway 7,645 feet. Telephoto lens make it look shorter. A330 needed runway length 5500 ft to 6800ft depending upon weight and altitude. Plenty left over here.

    This is one of those occasions where the pilots are allowed to push the engines over 9000😂 to get as much of a boost as they can on a short ass runway

  • @chaspfrank

    Based upon the runway markings, the rollout is probably about 2800 feet to main wheels off the ground. Not bad for a plane that size. regardless of the load. That being said, I'd love to see the 757 that followed him on taxing out depart with an equivalent load.

      Have a VHF radio with the right bands. It's somewhere around 118-124 Mhz. I think you can use a police scanner.

      There is a radio intercom and you have to call and identify your aircraft and where you’re and then they’ll give you directions to take off or land.

      Exactly, probably just a normal takeoff. We need to see more takeoffs from this view to determine what is normal.

    Shows what having a 50% load (or less) does to performance. Likely had to reduce the throttles shortly after takeoff to keep the climb angle comfortable for the pax.
