For those of you just joining us, welcome! We're Vic and Jo and we've been narrowboating around the UK for the last few years on our 54ft narrowboat Zero. Two years ago we decided to give up our jobs in the city and add another boat to our fleet in hope of turning it into a travelling cafe and becoming full time boating baristas.

You guys must have been exhausted, after having to travel on all those busses, and trains, and steps?! All this, along with carrying William and all the back packs and luggage. Greetings from Bordeaux! I am a resident so I was pleased to see you visited our beautiful city. There is so much more you could have seen but I would imagine you did not have much time. Capucins market is an interesting place - you will find them all over France so you could go to Les Halles in Narbonne or Victor Hugo in Toulouse and see the same.
A Canele is a speciality of Bordeaux. It is flour, milk, egg yolk and butter with vanilla and rum to give it the caramelisation. The high speed train line originally ended at Poitiers but was extended to Bordeaux and opened only a few years ago. You now travel at 300kph or 200mph and take just over 2 hours. There is talk to extend it into Spain. But don't hold your breath. When you departed Bordeaux and crossed the river, did you notice the box girder bridge beside the modern railway bridge? Why is it still standing? Because it is an historic monument. It was designed by the Eiffel company. You will find Gustave left his metalwork all over France!
There have been nationwide strikes and these are continuing but just today, the local union reached an agreement so the waste in Paris is being collected and the city will be clean again in the next couple of days. However, the strikes continue - you were lucky to take a train from Bordeaux on a day they actually operated.

I've got to say I'm really liking these short 10 min travel updates, they're really cool! I'm also super impressed by the amount of effort you went to doing the filming on the Metro while you were lugging William and all your luggage about. Great work!
My reaction to the Eiffel Tower was exactly the same! Smaller than I expected and made of scaffolding!! Glad you got to see it up close though. What a journey across Paris with a toddler and carrying the pushchair - you guys deserve a medal at the end of this!

It’s great to see how he takes in all of the sights and hustle and bustle without being overwhelmed - carriers are great for helping your child feel secure and safe in situations like the metro!

Neither of you ever seem to get flustered, do you off camera? William is going to feel somewhat hemmed in when you get back to Zero, but he has certainly experience more than a lot of toddlers of his age. Well done for doing this trip it has been a joy to watch your adventures.

Aw,this was an absolutely cracking video. One of your best! So good to see Paris seeing as my trip there has had to be delayed. I loved too the honesty of your portrayal,just showing us this fabulous city in all it's wonderfulness/awfulness.
And to diss the iconic work of Gustave Eiffel! We all,due to movies etc think the E.T is in the heart of Paris not way out towards the edge (of the old city).

Jo, Vic, and Master William, I have been watching and commenting on your channel since its inception. Lately I have not. Since mid January I have been very sick; in and out of hospitals and a physical therapy facility but I am starting to feel better 😊. I just wanted you all to know how much your videos have impacted my recovery. I love each and every one of them and more so the three of you!

Took the tube last summer with my grandchildren x 2 under 5 years old to london History Museum. Hats off to you to navigate the metro, with luggage, William strapped up front. Short & sweet, full of information & delights along the way 🙏🌾🌴

That is just crazy place with strange tourists in middle of the roads, loved it, never been to France or Paris so this was a live show for us so well done, could smell the trash, probably all linked to increase in retirement age rise.

Guy de Maupassant (1850 - 1893) reportedly ate lunch in the Eiffel Tower's restaurant every day for years-not because he loved the great iron monument but because, so the story goes, it was the only place in Paris where he could sit and not see the tower itself. Don't you love it!

Another long day for you three, William looks in his element taking it all in his stride. Feet up for a week for you Joe when you get home as you do two steps to Vic's one. Still think your a little mad, but your getting it done with videos you can all treasure, so don't be dropping your phone / camera in the canel again Joe before your download them all.
My initial reaction when you saw all those stairs was, you'll need a nice cup of tea after that girl!. Be that person, own it because it is quintessentially British.

➡🚅 There at 2:38 when exiting the train, that "TGV" by the door explains it. The service began in 1981 with TGV being acronym for Trains a Grande Vitesse. The double-deck TGV Duplex configuration has been in use since around 1995. The French definitely know what they are doing with these high speed train services. From a 26 February 2021 web page by SNCF itself, "Four decades ago, on 26 February 1981, Operation TGV 1001 set the world speed record for rail when a train reached 380 km/h. Got the impression that accessibility was not high on the priority list in Paris. You three are very dedicated -- those steps made my ancient knees cry out.
Those little cakes remind me of Rum Baba's which we used to have as kids. I've read up and the Rum Baba seems to be French so it may be a version of that.
