Yes, first thing I questioned. Battery life should have been part of the comparison. But then the result would have been a draw. Factor in the pixels special hdplus camera chip, and you would have a better allround phone.
Novazon yes I got the PX xl and make me dream about a bezeless phone but it got its beauty with not doubts,and it sounds well for the bass quality but OnePlus 5 was way much louder to listen reviews and conferences on TH-cam . OnePlus 5 was too perfect,and also with pixel 2 xl is a high level experience ,just a bit too big '-((
I only have the Pixel 2, and I came from an iPhone 8, and this is the best phone I've ever had. There's literally nothing about this that I hate. EDIT: Also, Google doesn't purposely slow down their old phone so you have to get the new one. So there's that.

actually, design as a category isnt opinion based. at least when you talk about the phone as parts rather than a whole. if you say, the ipx looks better, then yes, thats opinion based. If you discuss the materials, the spacing of physical features, screen to body ratios etc, then it becomes something quantifiable
If the score was going to end up 3 to 2 you should have reorganized the categories so that'd we'd be a 2 to 2 before the final winner takes the last category. Once Iphone X takes three the last category is pointless.

The glass on the iPhone X is very weak. It breaks from a fall off your lap. Meanwhile Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 (used on most android flagships) is much much stronger.

I don't know about you but I would rather have a notch (being an Iphone X user I can safely say you get used to it in a matter of hours) than a chin and bezel that takes up 1/3 of the screen. The screen to body ratio on the Iphone X is a good 14-15% higher compared to the pixel 2 xl

I got a Pixel 2 (not the XL) yesterday and I got it in the kinda blue color. I think the iPhone X definitely does look sleeker but the pixel definitely isn't ugly. The phone is really amazing with amaaaazing photo quality. I had my first smartphone which was an iPhone 5s for 2 years but I got tired of it as people moved on to the latest iPhones and I still had the 5s because I didn't have the money. Then I saw the pixel at Verizon was on sale from 649.99 to 349.99 and with the accessories and everything else it came up to 518.00 which isn't bad for what this phone is and I was scared I would miss my iPhone but I don't! It's lovely. I think it really all comes down to preference. They are both great phones but it really comes down to the tiny details that change from person to person.

Lucas Raschek LOL it went up to 5,571, I did the math based on the increments up to 12,000. Single-core score on geekbench 4 for the iPhone X is 4204 and 4216 for the iPhone 8 (Both the same processors but whatever).

So really in the end it's not even $500 including case, tempered glass, and all the cables I needed like car charger, and a 6ft one for my home. Target has it (Verizon though) right now for $300 off, with a $250 Target gift card. And they'll give you money for your old phone too. You could sell the gift card, and get it for under $400. That's cheap for basically the best phone out, or one of them anyway. It's awesome. ;)

Tormod Rygh you can also buy a Huawei P10 lite pay only 300 euros and have a perfectly nice phone. Anything over a snapdragon 635 is useless because you won’t do video editing on a phone. Also, you can buy an iPhone 8 for the price of an s8 and be sure that it will run just fine for longer (3 years or more) because of it’s super processor
I NEED YOUR HELP! I am looking to upgrade in a few months due to my contract ending and I currently own a Pixel XL. I am trying to make my mind up weather to upgrade to an iPhone X or the Pixel 2 XL. While I have had a great experience with my current Pixel phone I have had a few problems which include the aluminium being scraped off by sand in-between the phone and the case, major screen burn in and the Google Photos unlimited storage being a pain to transfer multiple photots across devices (I don't see a need for the so called unlimited photo storage). Also due to me being stupid I just brought some AirPods as they look better than the competition (personal preference) and they work but I have no controls on the AirPods themselves due to a lack of true compatibility. If you haven't scrolled down already I actually value your opinion as you must want to help so... Do I upgrade to the iPhone X or Pixel 2 XL? Thanks.

Ronaldo Costa the performance of the pixel 2 XL is the same as the mini pixel 2. In fact what you described is a pixel 2 XL with a wide angle secondary camera. And the display on the pixel 2 XL is not as big of deal as you probably heard during the time you made that post. It's a damn good phone.
The LG V30 is still the 2017 King in my book. Zero compromises and an amazing wide-Angle camera that no one has. Too bad the selfie camera is a bit below par, but I never use that anyway.
The bettery on the LG V30 beats any Samsung Galaxy phone I've ever had and it's not loaded with a bunch of bloatware that Samsung likes to put on. Performance wise, it's incredibly smooth and this is on 7.1.2. Looking forward to Oreo. Front cam is nothing special but does the job for a selfie cam. Like Jorge says, I never really use. The wide angle shot is great.I don't think the iPhone is the definite winner. I have used an iPhone X and it needs major software revision and it's just clunky to me.
I agree with every answer and thought this was a good comparison, but I feel like every reviewer is forgetting how big of a deal price is for every day users. the biggest design flaw is the lack of a finger print touch. Apple convince the industry to adopt Fingerprint ID only to deliver a flagship device that doesn't adopt it. That's misses the point of incremental innovation in an ecosystem roadmap.
On the geekbench graph 7:37 , why did the singlecore bar for the iphone keep rising when he started talking about the pixel? Like he was trying to manipulate it without you noticing to make the iphone look better. It started out below the third line on the graph, and by the time he finished talking about the pixel, it was past the 4th line.
I think that this video is clearly bias. Here's why. Apple has a lot of options and features, but Some of these features you feel are all apple make no sense. A Google phone has better OLED screen with higher DPI, and resolution, but a blue tint is a problem. Hmmm the notch isn't? This leads to opinion here not facts. I also think that Performance is more than just how well the hardware performs. For many its not all about gaming. If gamers want a phone for that we could look at the razor phone or the OnePlus 5T. Both cost less than either of these phones and much better performance gaming wise. What about Battery Life, sound quality, how many apps can run at once before slow down? The design portion of this phone is clearly going to be from person to person. How can this work in a review? The camera is extremely good for both phones from what I saw, so not sure who could win there. Lastly Intagibles. You spoke of a lot of the options that apple has. Most of these Options have been on android for years and you excluded them. We can still use them no matter what android phone we use. I agree with how you say that either phone would be good, but a lot of these features nearly match each other except for features that android has had way longer and that the pixel 2 xl is cheaper. With design you could also talk about build quality (premium materials). Stainless steel band, and uniform glass is an elegant and premium touch (even if its more damageable, it still is "premium").

I like how you say that Apple has caught up with fast charging and wireless charging... when both are limited to a max wattage of 7.5w vs the conventional 5w it already had. Meanwhile any android phone with quick charge such as the Pixel can charge at the full 15w quick charge capability far surpassing the iPhone in charging capability. You can obviously have your opinion but just look into the specs of what your preaching before saying one is better over the other.
Specs can always look good on paper, but real usage tells the real story! Androids have quick charge but they die so fast, Apple charges slower, but lasts so much longer!

4) performance- equivalent (you judged according to bench result), I in reality compared them !!

I got a Pixel 2 (not the XL) yesterday and I got it in the kinda blue color. I think the iPhone X definitely does look sleeker but the pixel definitely isn't ugly. The phone is really amazing with amaaaazing photo quality. I had my first smartphone which was an iPhone 5s for 2 years but I got tired of it as people moved on to the latest iPhones and I still had the 5s because I didn't have the money. Then I saw the pixel at Verizon was on sale from 649.99 to 349.99 and with the accessories and everything else it came up to 518.00 which isn't bad for what this phone is and I was scared I would miss my iPhone but I don't! It's lovely. I think it really all comes down to preference. They are both great phones but it really comes down to the tiny details that change from person to person.

Target has it (Verizon though) right now for $300 off, with a $250 Target gift card. And they'll give you money for your old phone too. You could sell the gift card, and get it for under $400. That's cheap for basically the best phone out, or one of them anyway. It's awesome. ;)

Tormod Rygh you can also buy a Huawei P10 lite pay only 300 euros and have a perfectly nice phone. Anything over a snapdragon 635 is useless because you won’t do video editing on a phone. Also, you can buy an iPhone 8 for the price of an s8 and be sure that it will run just fine for longer (3 years or more) because of it’s super processor
I NEED YOUR HELP! I am looking to upgrade in a few months due to my contract ending and I currently own a Pixel XL. I am trying to make my mind up weather to upgrade to an iPhone X or the Pixel 2 XL. While I have had a great experience with my current Pixel phone I have had a few problems which include the aluminium being scraped off by sand in-between the phone and the case, major screen burn in and the Google Photos unlimited storage being a pain to transfer multiple photots across devices (I don't see a need for the so called unlimited photo storage). Also due to me being stupid I just brought some AirPods as they look better than the competition (personal preference) and they work but I have no controls on the AirPods themselves due to a lack of true compatibility. If you haven't scrolled down already I actually value your opinion as you must want to help so... Do I upgrade to the iPhone X or Pixel 2 XL? Thanks.

Ronaldo Costa the performance of the pixel 2 XL is the same as the mini pixel 2. In fact what you described is a pixel 2 XL with a wide angle secondary camera. And the display on the pixel 2 XL is not as big of deal as you probably heard during the time you made that post. It's a damn good phone.

The LG V30 is still the 2017 King in my book. Zero compromises and an amazing wide-Angle camera that no one has. Too bad the selfie camera is a bit below par, but I never use that anyway.
The bettery on the LG V30 beats any Samsung Galaxy phone I've ever had and it's not loaded with a bunch of bloatware that Samsung likes to put on. Performance wise, it's incredibly smooth and this is on 7.1.2. Looking forward to Oreo. Front cam is nothing special but does the job for a selfie cam. Like Jorge says, I never really use. The wide angle shot is great.I don't think the iPhone is the definite winner. I have used an iPhone X and it needs major software revision and it's just clunky to me.

I agree with every answer and thought this was a good comparison, but I feel like every reviewer is forgetting how big of a deal price is for every day users. It should be its own category instead of in intangibles, apple still would win, but I feel like it should be talked about more. Right now the 64gb version of the Iphone is $999 vs $774 for the Pixel 2 XL with 64gb, that is a massive difference.

I won’t argue with your category winners at all. I solidly agree across the board. BUTTTT how can you leave software off the list dude???? WTF? Before any category you could have come up with, software should be first. Android is getting better and better, and iOS is still wonky and awkward, not very intuitive and for the first time more buggy than stock android? Even if apple had the best hardware wins in 10 ways til Sunday, iOS is a mess, and I can’t stand it. Apple is really lucky the developers make good apps for their OS. Also I’m surprised battery life didn’t come into your review much (or at all?). Pixel 2 would win in software and battery.... the biggest design flaw is the lack of a finger print touch. Apple convince the industry to adopt Fingerprint ID only to deliver a flagship device that doesn't adopt it. That's misses the point of incremental innovation in an ecosystem roadmap.

On the geekbench graph 7:37 , why did the singlecore bar for the iphone keep rising when he started talking about the pixel? Like he was trying to manipulate it without you noticing to make the iphone look better. It started out below the third line on the graph, and by the time he finished talking about the pixel, it was past the 4th line.

I think that this video is clearly bias. Here's why. Apple has a lot of options and features, but Some of these features you feel are all apple make no sense. A Google phone has better OLED screen with higher DPI, and resolution, but a blue tint is a problem. Hmmm the notch isn't? This leads to opinion here not facts. I also think that Performance is more than just how well the hardware performs. For many its not all about gaming. If gamers want a phone for that we could look at the razor phone or the OnePlus 5T. Both cost less than either of these phones and much better performance gaming wise. What about Battery Life, sound quality, how many apps can run at once before slow down?
The design portion of this phone is clearly going to be from person to person. How can this work in a review?
The camera is extremely good for both phones from what I saw, so not sure who could win there.
Lastly Intagibles. You spoke of a lot of the options that apple has. Most of these Options have been on android for years and you excluded them. We can still use them no matter what android phone we use.

Sully Mems Samsung was the manufacturer and supplier. Apple design the spec and program the display and ask Samsung to produce it using there expertise in manufacturing OLED panels.
