The applicator is the only difference ? Is the resin used with the applicator the same as the resin composite filling ? Where can a dentist order this resin infiltration ? I don't think many dentists know about this in the US ? Most still stick with the drill and fill. Thank you
Is it possible to bleach teeth's after icon infiltration afterwards? Like some days later.. for example if those canine's remained yellowish... Can it be done in this cases?
We recommend bleaching / whitening before Icon treatment for optimal results. In this case, the recommended waiting time between whitening and infiltration is two weeks. Concerning bleaching after infiltration, we can not make reliable statements yet (the two weeks waiting time might be approbiate here as well). In any case, please talk to your dentist, as we as the manufacturer of the product "Icon" cannot replace the medical diagnosis and treatment plan. From the video entitled 'Fluorosis Treatment using icon Infiltration step by step' by Dr. Marie Clemen- dmgdentalEN shows that fluorosis can be treated by DMG Icon, but Dr. Felix Wöhrle says in 21:58 that fluorosis cannot be treated by DMG Icon. May I know if fluorosis can be treated by DMG Icon?
Hello, thanks for your message! Yes, Icon is indicated only for approximal caries and moderate to mild fluorosis. In any case, the individual diagnosis and treatment can only be done by a dentist. The Video of Dr. Felix will be updated to include this soon :)
Dear Kevin, sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the result. Have you already been talking to your dentist about possible causes and ways of improvement?
89% successful rate of ICON the doctor said in the beginning of the video. I wonder that the doctor had this number from what article ????? I cant find this article for my appointment so please help me
Hello, thanks for your message! Due to copyright reasons, we cannot send you the whole article. The findings were presented at the 60th Congress of the European Organisation for Caries Research (ORCA), Liverpool, UK July 2013. (Poster #211) The Title is "Five Year Follow-Up of a Randomized Clinical Trial on the Efficacy of Proximal Caries Infiltration". Authors: S. Paris, K. Bitter, H. Meyer-Lückel. Hope that helps!
I used to get cavities every once in a while (always brushed twice a day with flouride) and then about 6 years ago I started using xylitol toothpaste which IS LETHAL TO DOGS, fyi, and I had not had any a year ago. I didn't know until recently that xylitol is said by some, to help prevent cavities and figured it was just used as the sweetener in said toothpaste. About a year ago, I started using fluoride again due to concerns for my dog. Now, in the 5 years between visits, I put my teeth through hell and was ASTONISHED to learn that I had no cavities. When I started using fluoride again, it was about the same time that I started really caring for my teeth really well again and this year I have the start of one, so I am pretty confident that the xylitol was helping prevent cavities better than fluoride which I had used all my life. Also, I will say that I think my socinare toothbrush has had a huge roll to play in the fact that I have fewer cavities than I used to get, but I've been using that for 10 years now, so it didn't have a roll to play in the difference in cavities in the last 6 years.
Hi Indoor Orchids and Tropicals, thanks for your comment! Here is Dr. Felix' response: An interesting comment - you used 3 important things to improve your oral health although they all do it in a different way. Studies have shown that there is no significant difference for experienced brushers between hand operated and electrical toothbrushes. However, electrical toothbrushes clean teeth better for people that lack the dexterity or knowledge to properly clean the teeth (ask about the right brushing technique on your next professional tooth cleaning appointment). Electrical toothbrushes also support the recommended 2 minute brushing time and some models even have a pressure indicator to prevent excessive use of force. Fluoride helps with remineralization of teeth and makes teeth more resistant to acid attacks (like from bacteria in a biofilm = plaque). Finally, Xylitol inhibits the growth of the bacteria that cause cavities. It does this because these bacteria (e.g. Streptococcus mutans) cannot utilize xylitol to grow. Over time with xylitol use, the quality of the bacteria in the mouth changes and fewer and fewer decay-causing bacteria survive on tooth surface. So, all good measures and if done well this should keep your teeth healthy and beautiful. But if these preventive measures fail and you get a caries lesion, you should have a plan B to prevent that into growing into a full fledged cavity that will eventually need to be drilled and filled. Icon is the solution to prevent that from happening at a very early stage and it can remove visible White Spots on the front teeth as if they never existed.
Really helpful to me as a dentistry student!

@@dmgdentalEN Thank you for the information. Will be waiting for the latest update. :)
Had this procedure done. The white spot is slightly less noticeable but it's still there and can be seen close up. Would not recommend. Cost me $200.

Will this work for tetracycline staining? I have been waiting for years for something to come out other than the expensive porcelain veneers.
Hello, thanks for your question! Tetracycline staining is not an indication for the infiltration treatment with Icon.
can zoom whitening be used after an icon procedure?
Thanks for the informative and clear lecture Doctor!
Happy to help :)
