I have played a little of the DLC, haven't progressed far enough to face Messmer. Yeah, I was honestly surprised, considering he doesn't have a separate health bar for his second phase.
Presumably none of the base game bosses were scaled to the dlc ones. The dlc bosses don't have all that much extra health, (messmer has like 38k health, while malenia has 33k) they're just way tankier and are scaled to hit way harder
Because everything’s scaled to different progression points in the game and scaled to the player, not other bosses. These fights are stupid for analyzing. Balance is all fucked. Just cool to visually watch.

Looking at it now I still like Radahn's caelid fight much more, of course he is not in his sane state, but the grandeur and the ferocity with which he fights are much more threatening beyond the very theme of a real battle and you see him acting like a berserker but with sanity to conjure the power of gravity is really impressive and makes you feel small in front of General Radahn.

To be fair, the Elden Beast at least would make the fight longer and closer (but probably still lose) if not teleported directly front of Messmer and instead the battle starts as it starts in the base game. The beast starts with its pretty deadly fire breath but does no damage at all, because Messmer is immediately too close.
@@mz655 It's not really a bug, maybe glitch? per say. Some creatures have longer death animations, so their body persists for a while and is able to proc effects. If you play a bleed build you will notice that sometimes you proc bleeds on enemies that are already dead when for a split sec until their body disappears.. So seems it also works on Malenia's lifesteal, probably other procs.
I suppose the Maingame Boss Battle will have to have their tier raised to stand a chance if that is even possible, bloody hell, what a damage sandwich Placidusax is probably already panicking knowing Bayle might pay him a visit again in the future at some point...

I swear those are ball python faces/heads, which is an interesting choice considering how docile and harmless they are IRL. The bodies are too lean and long to match a ball python though, and reminded me more of juvenile retics. The giant attacking snakes look different, but it's hard to tell exactly what breed they're modeled after.

First time I’ve seen Malenia almost die-that’s an achievement on its own! So, it’s safe to say both are almost equal, and now it just comes down to having good RNG. If Messmer goes full aggressive and bursts damage, he’ll win, but if Malenia manages to get her regen going and prolong the fight, she’ll definitely take it.
Something feels really off with the scaling here. I get the new baddies are a bit over tuned, but to just blast through these guys without hardly any damage seems a bit ridiculous.

Messmer is basically the Malenia of the DLC. He's got his own scary flurry attack that's easier to dodge than it looks, he's got a grapple where he throws you into the air and impales you, and he has a second phase where he's naked and channels an Outer God. Little sis was just better than him.
I can't be the only one disappointed with messmer, two phase where he could've been three and/or single healthbar where he could've been two, and his second faze name is kinda boring "base serpent messmer" bleh... Fun fact: they canonically have fought. Both Bayle and Placidusax are missing limbs, and that fight is the reason.

I can't be the only one disappointed with messmer, two phase where he could've been three and/or single healthbar where he could've been two, and his second faze name is kinda boring "base serpent messmer" bleh... I don't mean to hate he's still cool as fuck, just feel like he could've been more. granted he gives the hardest base game boss a run for her money and rolls the rest so credit there but I almost want him to be even harder lmao
I feel the same way, Messmer should have had 2 health bars and not going to phase 2 half health

Messmer's damage output is impossibly high. These bosses need to gather some Scadu Tree fragments.
This DLC is so bad, it's literally like you have to be a robot to beat it. One wrong move and ur dead. Just have to memorize like an exact button pushing sequence like it's a piano piece. Terrible design.

As usual Malenia keeps her champ belt (As she should miss never known defeat), Love her! Only one to do any Real damage (other than death) was the Golem surprisingly!
