Me encanta esta version del Barbero, Teresa Berganza es magnifica cantante, las coloraturas suenan tan naturales en su voz.
Merveilleuse Teresa Berganza, merveilleux Hermann Prey ...
Se existe um "modelo" de interpretação dessa ópera, e desse dueto em particular, com base no qual as outras interpretações podem ser comparadas, é essa gravação do Abbado. Prey e Berganza, particularmente, formam uma dupla notabilíssima, pela técnica, voz, interpretação, ausência de maneirismos.
Une merveille d'interprétation, rien à redire, deux stars si marquantes dont les noms brillent pour toujours!

Las agilidades de Berganza son perfectas: ligadas y medidas al milímetro (al milisegundo en este caso). Desde que dejó los escenarios no se ha vuelto a oír nada semejante. Brava.
Yo me pregunto como alguien alcanzó un nivel de perfección técnica tan grandioso, clara en el agudo y un grave embriagador, sin duda no se a visto algo así nuevamente.

these two just give great joy and sing this music with joy -whouth which it becomes just vocal exercise and silly show off! but they still do not put themselves above the music! oh .. what a JOY!

Para complementar la información de nuestro amigo Antillas 636, la DG ha colocado hace poco en el mercado una deliciosa versión alemana de 1959 con el mismo Prey como Figaro, su "alter ego", Fritz Wunderlich, como Almaviva, y Erica Koth como Rosina. El dueto "All'idea di quel metallo" lo puedes apreciar aqui en "TH-cam": que perla!!!

So, Berganza makes the legato in the vocalizing! So I'm not mad, the problem is Bartoli (please listen and tell me if I am mad, but Bartoli has no legato in the quick passages). This is fine singing with THE technique.
You're right, Cecilia sings her coloratura as if she's turning the notes into bullets.
Yep! Berganza sings the coloratura legato which is the correct style for this time period. In Baroque music, coloratura was often aspirated but by the classical period and early romantic period, coloratura was sung legato. She is ABSOLUTELY unmatched in this role.
one of my favourite operas with the best singers ever!! and teresa berganza is not only a flawless singer but also an experienced actor. she acts so naturally. just love her. by the way, how did she mess up the si part of her name?

true coloratura baritones who can actually keep up with the coloratura mezzos and sopranos in this role are few and far between (we are freaks of nature =P). a great example of this type of voice is Peter Mattei who sings this with Joyce DiDonato or Diana Damrau depending on the performance.
PS: Although not my favorite rendition I think they both sound great and have wonderful chemistry =)

well ... appogiatura then ... ... to be more precise but none of them are correct for this .... coloratura comes from colore, colour, appogiatura from appogire, support.
but coloratura passages are now more acceptable in quick runs and turns, to be more precise ... it is called MELISMA. Just had a look in the music dictionary here!
I dont think is technical problem but simply a strong demand on his voice that his coloraturas were not so accurate like in the beginning of his career!

Prey era de los mejor del siglo 20 sin lugar a duda. Una gran perdida para la música docta (hablo de su muerte)
Hermann ralentiza un poco el tempo cuando hace las agilidades o me lo parece a mi?
despues de oir a callas, las demás, parecen estar solfeando, aunque su afinacion es impecable.
