I use to love when he took to time to do so. And I so so looked forward to a weekly Tuesday affirmation for my mental health. 6:01 not finished yet might have a good one
@@korhol2065 and that was one of the major nails in that game's coffin. though not a shooter, silent hill downpour also did something similar by only allowing you to carry 1 melee weapon and 1 gun.
Co op missions in Resistance 2. You had three different soldiers to choose from basically a healer tank and dps classes in an MMO in a pve environment that wasn’t the main story. My friends and I spent hours in this mode. We had a great time for it to be removed in Resistance 3
Although I understand the frustration of the quick swap being removed in Battlefield 3. In it's defense it could be because at the time it was pushing graphics to the absolute limit and was the most gorgeous looking game that it's possible the quick swap had to be sacrificed
For me, it’s Bushido Blade. 1 was very innovative, with limbs being taken out of hit. 2 kept the “potential for instant death” mechanic, but the limb loss was gone. I felt it turned from a unique series to a generic one hit kill fighter.
The evil within burning enemies gimmick was repurposed from the fuel and lighter mechanic from resident evil remake in which you could burn downed zombies so they wouldn’t revive as crimson heads later on
The best thing about NASCAR is that it was started due to Prohibition. Bootleggers souped up their cars in an attemp to outrun the authorities. I've never played a NASCAR game.
I believe the removal of dual wielding from the Halo series was because of how it impacted the crucial multiplayer aspect. With dual wielding available players were less likely to use melee, grenade, or other non dual wieldable weapons. I think there's a video with the devs confirming this to be the reason for its removal from the series.
A correction to side comment on the multiplayer comment, Mass Effect Andromeda had multiplayer as well. It was less rounds than in Mass Effect 3, and since there was no galactic war it didn't have the connection to the single player, but it was otherwise the same game mode. The jump packs and the less bullshit enemies made it mostly more enjoyable, although there were a couple weapons and mods from the previous that were missed.
The hotswap mechanic in Battlefield was incredibly cool. It allowed you to play missions in several different ways using various classes and approaches. Have yet to find a similar mechanic in any other game since.
With The Evil Within it makes sense from a narrative point, zombies shouldn't be hurt my fire when you think about it but in the first one it was because Ruvik had a fear of fire
You should do one about sports games. For as long as time, sports games have been removing features with every year since the N64. I'm surprised that we don't just have "Just football kicking: the game."
Resident Evil featured the burning corpses mechanic way earlier. And it was more tactical in that game since you sometimes need to re-tread the same hallways.
It should've been brought back in most of the remakes of the sequels, since the virus canonically revives a "dead" zombie by eventually having its adrenaline kick in acting as a second wind. Hence why they're faster, stronger and are nicknamed to a "crimson head"
The Pokemon games are notorious for this. First they added Mega Evolution, and left it for 2 generations. Then adding Z-Moves and making Mega Evolution Post-Game. After that both were removed and they Dynamaz/Gigantamax (which felt like a HUGE downgrade, pun intended). Then the next gen removed that for Terastallizing.
Jules, thank you for the wonderful affirmation at the end of every video... it does help, even a little. 2024 was supposed to be the best year of my life, something I've been working for for 20yrs finally happened, I got my life back.... only for me to feel worse and more depressed than I've ever been before. Like, I'm so scared and lost, I need time to heal but life won't let me heal, I need money to survive and I barely make anything doing the stuff I do. My surviving family is trying to push me into things, but I don't think I'll ever be ready and... I just over burdened and suffering so many break downs... I'm scared. Sorry about this.. I'm trying to find people to talk to, I'm just afraid my friends are sick of it.
Still hate the fact Rocksteady let Arkham multiplayer die with Origins especially when the playground for Knight was so big and was ripe for potential, not to mention it'd be a fun way to get characters like Robin, and Nightwing so much needed gameplay.
I love "The Evil Within" and I seem to be one of the few who thinks the first game is better than the second. I like them both but I felt the first game was a lot more tense and the level design was a lot tighter and more atmospheric. I thought the semi open-world they did in TEW2 worked pretty well but I didn't love it and I felt like the AI was really easy to cheese. Also, being able to stealth kill enemies from around a corner is super OP lol. The absence of the matches makes sense to me, though. Ruvik's fear was fire, and you were in a construct of his mind so I can understand why the mechanic wasn't in the second game but at the same time, I felt like it took out a cool feature in the game. You can do some tricky stuff with matches and it can save you a lot of resources if you're smart with it.
I hope this video covers elder scrolls- the freedom that Morrowind allowed vs the restricted potion/spell making of the later games. 3 games left, there is still time...!
Deja vu. I know this sounds impossible, Jules, but EA Sports NASCAR had a horrible case of rubberbanding. And this is coming from a guy who LOVES EA Sports College Football & Madden NFL.
Still dumbfounded that both spiritual sequel “Dying Light” and actual sequels “Dead Island: Riptide” and “DI 2” ditched the original DI’s fantastic analog weapon control.
And how Dying Light 2 inexplicably ditched that if you were fighting an enemy who was armed with a specific weapon, when they died…they dropped their weapon for pickup. No idea why the switched to disappearing weapons.
Evie Frye of Assassin's Creed Syndicate lost her cloaking ability for Jack the Ripper, I was rather fond of that, I'd constantly clear a restricted area from a flag pole lol 🤪 Assassin's Creed Brotherhood gave Ezio parachutes, other Assassins had them in Revelations, so they weren't limited to Ezio. The Brotherhood clearly got rid of them by Connor's time, but why Altair had a crossbow in the cinematic trailer for the original game, but they got rid of it for some reason. The first key in Revelations revealed that an enemy clearly used one before the events of the main game, so it couldn't be because of historical inaccuracies. If you look up crossbows, it seems they were around way before 1191 too I thought Twitter doesn't exist anymore, I'm surprised people still use X too, but then I rarely see many videos on TH-cam where they say "follow me on Facebook"
With RDR2 it's a literary element that shows the difference between Arthur and John. Arthur cannot shoot a horse, the game will not let you. Later as John, the game will allow you to shoot horses.
Those end of video messages in the Jules videos are the only thing keeping me together at this point.
Thank you
Been watching Jules on what culture for year's now. I always love the little free mental health pep talk at the end :).
I use to love when he took to time to do so. And I so so looked forward to a weekly Tuesday affirmation for my mental health. 6:01 not finished yet might have a good one
Def my fav because of that.
add any shooter that removed the ability to carry all your guns and changed it in sequels to only allow you to carry 2 guns.
The only game that would apply would be duke nukem forever
@@korhol2065 and that was one of the major nails in that game's coffin. though not a shooter, silent hill downpour also did something similar by only allowing you to carry 1 melee weapon and 1 gun.
Bioshock Infinite!!
@@tylerreinhard2697 yup. though the expansions let you carry all your weapons.
Then you can never find the gun you're looking for because you got 20 of them

"Burn more rubber than the Flash at an orgy". That's peak writing.
I could hear such joy in your voice with that alliteration. You know what else would bring you that joy? A video on flash/browser games

Yeah but losing an Arm is just a scratch, the black knight taught us that 😂
Crimson Heads and Burning corpses - Resident Evil 1 HD Remake/Remaster. Brilliant feature. Why it only appeared once is a head scratcher....
The evil within burning enemies gimmick was repurposed from the fuel and lighter mechanic from resident evil remake in which you could burn downed zombies so they wouldn’t revive as crimson heads later on
The hot swap should be in all FPS war games where you are a squad of more than one hahaha. Even GTA nailed this function

That take on Nascar was spot on
Not having the Hot Swap is what killed Battlefield for me. I played BF1 but CoD took over
I was so disappointed when Red Faction Armageddon didn't have an open world like Guerilla.
"Shart attack" made me laugh so hard the cats came into the room to give me strange looks 😅🤣

Mercenaries 2 dropping the deck of 52 should be on here, best hook of the original, completely absent in the sequel. Kind of killed it for me.
Are we just skipping over “Burn more rubber than The Flash at an orgy” then?
As somebody that lives in Daytona Beach Florida the Nascar description was perfect.
I did not expect to see Seamus gameplay show up here
bruh the online mode on bioshock 2 was dope

not having Liar's Dice was way worse than not being able to cheat at poker
2:15 🤣🤣🤣 Flash joke 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah!
Wasnt expecting that one😅
I was personally really bummed that cheating in poker wasn't a part of RDR2, I was OBNOXIOUSLY good at it in the first game 😂😂

There's a fart button in Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2 too.

Nascar in a nutshell:

Bubble J is that you?
I bet he makes a left turn😂
The onion has a funny video about that

As an American I agree NASCAR is boring, I prefer rally racing and don’t see why it isn’t more popular in the massive USA we got the room 😂
