Thank you brother. We are almost done. Ran into one last snag that is delaying us 3 weeks. We need the left tip tank fuel bladder. But we are almost done.
Beautiful... and going to be even nicer. I'd been a licensed pilot for sixteen years when this airplane got its airworthiness certificate. Much of that time was spent working for a Piper dealer. The Aztec was my favorite plane to fly, so these videos definitely make me smile. The one thing that you can be sure of is that this airplane, when the engine turned over for the first time, did not look as good as it will look when you finish. Oh. Man. N7181Y is turning into a piece of artwork.
Great comment! Thank you for sharing. Your experience sounds amazing. The Aztec is my favorite plane as well. Reliable, stable, and tough. Equipped with all the modern advancements of our time it’s hard to beat an Aztec. I’ll be posting a lot of flight videos of this Aztec traveling across the country as we use it for work. I hope you enjoy them.
Very nice work. She’s a beauty. I’m glad to see someone else in it for the long run perfecting these great planes. I’m wondering where you bought the cowl flap and fuel selector levers?
Thank you. The mechanics restored the fuel selector and as for the cowls we installed the STC from Diamond aire that turns them into sections, now the whole cowl can be taken apart in 30 minutes. We got lucky and found a new left cowl in Canada and the right one we found in Ohio.
I am intrested if you can point in the direction of where you got the fuel valve pedestal restored? The placard and the handles. It is beautiful. Much appreciated

Thank you. We ran into one last snag, we need to replace the left fuel bladder which has delayed us a few weeks but we’re close. I’m happy to help anyway I can. Feel free to email me pa27pilot@icloud.com.
What a great recap of this project! The attention to details is incredible, along with the upgrades and the craftsmanship is impressive.

The guys at JA aviation in Aurora, IL restored them for me. We couldn’t find new ones anywhere.
