    "Wild Tiger Woman" was Roy Wood's first chart failing single, his next single composition "Blackberry Way" hit the number one spot in the UK chart.

      Blackberry Way is just a Beatles knockoff prettymuch. Their earlier shit is way cooler as a whole. That being said I love this one.

    I personally love the "murkiness" of the mono mix of this. As good as it gets, and an incredible offering for 1968 in terms of originality and influence.

    • @towhee89

      Yeah I love the detail in those mono mixes. There's this one TH-cam who ripped the complete mono singles I forget his name but they're great quality. This song has production qualities that remind me of a Beatles song. It's almost like a wall of sound. Probably this song is their most raucous amphetamine fueled rocker, even tho they had a lot of those 😅😂

    David Bowie i believe was chatting to Ace Kefford and Trevor Burton and gave them the inspiration to form a Brum Supergroup

    • @davidmacgregor5193
      @davidmacgregor5193 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      True, Ace and Trevor were at the Belfry to see Davy Jones and the Lower Third in 1965, Bowie was still calling himself Davy Jones at that time. He suggested that Ace and Trevor form a Birmingham supergroup using the city's best young musicians from various bands.
      The first and classic lineup were, Carl Wayne, Bev Bevan and Chris 'Ace' Kefford from Carl Wayne and the Vikings, Trevor Burton from Danny King and The Mayfair Set and Roy Wood from Mike Sheridan's Lot.

    What a brilliant underrated single . Tony Blackburn hated it when played on radio 1and said sounds like Battersea power station thru their amp's.trevor loved it Carl didn't so I read.still playing today loud in the car.solid woody fan till I leave this earth thanks for getting this out pity uk didn't Keep these rare performances.

      @Krzyszczynski ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have to wonder if Tony Blackburn had some sort of personal grudge against Roy Wood. A few years after this, when Wizzard's See My Baby Jive had just hit No 1, dear Tony said, more than once, that he wished it would shoot straight over the top of the charts and disappear.

    The stupid people at bbc banned this from being played on radio because of one line of lyrics in this amazing song: "tied to the bed, she's waiting to be fed". This song would have been a huge seller had it received the airplay it deserved.

    The Move were ahead of their time. Saw them live and they were what we now call heavy rock. Their album tracks were amazing. Listen to Foo Fighters "Resolve". Sounds like later version of The Move.

    Those lyrics!!! "Tied to the bed, she's waiting to be fed...I was hoping that the ground
    Would open up and take me in, Life is so obscene, And the remarks that go unseen
    Are being diminished to the earth...Young, indecisive minds are in a maze,
    She moves me very fast..." High-velocity genius. Roy Wood was so far head of his time I think it drove him a bit mad. But what a legacy he left. This, "Tonight," "I Can Hear The Grass Grow," "Fire Brigade," "Walk Upon the Water," "Blackberry Way"...

    Yes he had some issues as we all encounter in life. But his departure from Yes was well documented as musical differences within the band, especially with the arrogant Jon Anderson. Banks was a brilliant musician and was the foundation of Yes for decades to come.
