Yes, a surprising number of these still survive having done quite high mileage. These do have a few issues, but they are quite old cars now, and prices are very reasonable. Thank you ever so much indeed for watching and commenting
I do like a nice Mk1 Mondeo, sir. Nigel has exquisite taste in motors. The disappointment over the glovebox that was ever so slightly too small for the secret mission documents was sincerely felt on this side of the screen. I had forgotten all about that biro holder from a relative's Mondeo!
Yes sir, we enjoyed ourselves very much in the North East. We were a bit disappointed with the secret mission document storage capacity, but never mind!
A textbook review sir, 10 on 10. Curiously, my N/95 Ghia 2.0 had standard cruise control and heated velour seats. The ICE would have been the Ford 2006 radio cassette with a separate power amplifier in the lower DIN space and a Cd multichanger in the boot. Speakers were also of interest as they had a new ICT technology where the tweeters were driven by the inductive electromagnetic force rather than a separate voice coil so it couldn't be blown and also cheaper to manufacture. You don't get that kind of info on Pointless or on 15 to 1.
Thank you, sir! I would imagine that the Ghias would have had an extensive options list back in the day. This has very few factory options, yours would probably have had a bit more. I did not know about the stereo, sir, but I appreciated the information nevertheless....
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Sir, it's frustrating that one does not have free access to Ford ETIS anymore, as you could see what was specified as an option. I have a feeling mine was standard, but Ford were just feeling a little more generous come 1995 and this also tied in with the Ultima spec which you referenced to.
Sold over here as the Ford Fusion my boss had a 2011 one top of the line we were doing ride share so I rode in it many times on the downside it had to have premium gas and fuel consuption was no good 22 to 24 MPG automatic of course vercomfortable to ride in no rust issues here in Georgia very good video Joseph pity you cannot fine them their anymore you still see plenty on the road here best regards Andy Allen.
The North American version of these was actually marketed as the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique. They were not very successful, and were renowned for quality issues, for some reason, which was not the case with the Mondeo at all. All three variants are really rare now.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Yes Joseph it was also sold as the Fusion This is currently true, but was not always. Between 1995 and 2000, the Ford Mondeo was sold in North America with new sheet metal as two models - the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique. From 2014 to the present day, the Ford Mondeo has been sold in North America with unchanged sheet metal as the Ford Fusion. So we are both correct this time I have never seen a Contour I Have seen the Mystiqe on ocassion The Fusion finishes production here in May 2018 Andy Allen
Brilliant review, Mr Lloyd, very fond of the MK1 Mondeo, especially in Ghia and Ghia X specs. It's in pretty nice condition considering the age and mileage.
Nice review! I like the velour interior. This car has come from quite a distance. I noticed the Norfolk registration (AH) and the number plates had "Thetford Autoparts" emblazoned on them. The Ghia spec is very nice with it's velour seats and it's "I can't believe it's not walnut" dashboard. However, the base spec Mondeos of this era don't look too austere.
Well, it was a good car for its time, so no problems od admiring it. That Ghia trim looks pretty interesting, but lacks refinement. Such a shame last gen Mondeo was a kind of flop.
That is very kind indeed, but it's been less than six months since I drove it, and I don't have anything else to say about it at the moment. Thank you very much indeed nevertheless, however!
I have recently purchased a near identical car save for a manual gearbox. Mine is a late P reg 1996 mk 1 and is fitted with 16" 4 stud alloys which I believe were from a mk 11 Granada. Was the rear spoiler an option as mine does not have it? Also mine does not have aircon, but I understand it was deleted on later Ghias and only standard on Ghia X models.
Yes, when the Ghia X came out, I think they did remove some equipment from the Ghia. As far as I know, the spoiler would have been an option, and the Mark II and Mark III Granadas used five stud wheels.
Like all styling, I think some people prefer one and some the other. I am not sure what I prefer, actually, as a lot of it is specification dependent. Facelifted Mark I Laguna Monacos are particularly special, though.
Fine review sir , the best Mondeo , Richard Parry Jones got the ride and handling spot on . The sweet spot in the range though was the 1.8 glx.

Ah sir, one must have gone into the alloy wheel emporium and asked for the Birmingham spec. Marvellous review as ever.
'Birmingham spec' 🤣
Glad you enjoyed the video, sir!

Unfortunately, sir, such things have fallen by the wayside, rather like the Minidisc.

Ford have almost discontinued all their passenger cars, I believe.
Brilliant review, Mr Lloyd, very fond of the MK1 Mondeo, especially in Ghia and Ghia X specs. It's in pretty nice condition considering the age and mileage.
Yes, it's a real survivor car. I think Nigel from Double Zero Garage quite likes cars in this sort of condition....
Nice review! I like the velour interior.

Yes sir, this would have been a senior manager's car in the days of the repmobile... We did like the wood, didn't we?
Love the new intro music
It was actually a new piece of music from scratch!

Yes, some very strong memories of these amongst many of these, I think. I would definitely recommend upgrading to a Ghia X given the opportunity.
Hi Lloyd just. A update I am now going to be the new owner of the Laguna thanks if you do want to do a video again on it let me know thanks

majority of these did rust away that one looks ok. bit dirty inside that one,
The weather had been appalling in the area that week. I think we can excuse it.
What a horrible dull car. No wonder it got the Nickname the Ford Mundane. A Renault Laguna was a thosand times better.
Having driven a 1994 Mark I Laguna a few months ago, I don't think it is as clear cut as that at all. Both have advantages and disadvantages.
@lloydvehicleconsulting OK well the Laguna was the better looking car.
