    This bike is absolutely targeted towards what I want: a comfy, torquey machine that has looks that can kill. I love sport bikes but I never do track, so this fits me perfectly. The TFT dash is also wonderful. 💜

      It's targeted towards what the vast majority of street riders actually use. I have a track bike which I dearly love riding at the track, but isn't so good for riding around town, let alone any kind of distance/touring. That's why I'm buying a Triumph Trident for road riding: a comfy, torquey machine with looks that I prefer to the current Suzuki offerings, plus that triple sound. And that was before I saw the black/yellow that looks like my track bike, only better.

    You must understand.. over 99% of riders never ride a track day and over 99% of riders can’t use the power of a super sport on the road. The 8R is a real world bike for honest riders who, with enough skill, can keep up with super sports on the backroads.

    People keep lamenting the demise of supersports, but not enough people bought them, so it isn't cost effective for the manufacturers to make them for all markets. People do buy bikes like these, so they are in fact giving people what they want. And I would argue this is a track bike, just like an SV650 is a track bike, in fact a great track bike, and I think this one will be also.

    Great summary. Agree Suzuki should have added adjusters to the suspension and tuned a few more horses out of it. I am not a track rider and prefer the higher bars. My first bike was a CBR500R which I loved. Will definitely ride one when they appear on show rooms. Very cool!

    I'd add the throw over Suzuki saddle bags and smoked touring windscreen. Add a slip on exhaust (when you can get one and you know the aftermarket will show up big for this bike) and a K&N air filter. A perfect sports touring bike you could comfortably ride across the country.

    My first bike was an FZ6R, it was a fun bike, so I believe in this segment. However, a screaming 600 I-4 is pure exhilaration. I am sure plenty of folks will have a great time on this kind of bike, but personally I would not want to go back to this kind of bike. Go ride a GSXR600 for a year, then tell me you prefer a twin. It's not just about which one is faster, the I-4 600 is a special experience because of the high RPM and 'wait for it' power delivery. It's like a high strung 4cyl Honda Civic Si vs a grunty short shifting V6 Honda Accord. I personally like the screamer type engine.

      Where I live the RS660 cost 25% more than the GSX-8R.
      So I don’t really think it’s fair to compare them without taking the leap in price into consideration.
      The RS660 is better but also costs more. Not really unreasonable. Just depends on what budget you have.

    • @anirudhumapathy6753
      @anirudhumapathy6753 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If your comment is taken at face value. Then you are probably right. But, dig a little deeper into what the machine can do, and you will realize how untrue your statement is. Aprilia, and Italians in general I feel, make their machines to the limit, and dont think about long term ownership, and how it is to live with the bike. The GSX-8R, is a do-it-all bike, with more road-bias.
      The GSX-8R, is definitely going to take part in the Twins Cup, just as the RS660. IF your comment is true, then the GSX-8R is going to get thrashed every time, and yet, Suzuki are confident.
      A proper ECU tune, full Race exhaust, rework the handle bars, for a sportier setup, and the GSX-8R is gonna race the Aprilia, and probably beat it a fair few times. Performance, spec sheets, never tell you the full story of the bike.

    • @CS-pl8fc
      @CS-pl8fc 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@anirudhumapathy6753 you're a clown lol. The RS660 is absolutely a road-oriented sport bike, with raised clip ons and a far more upright posture than traditional supersports. It also happens to have nicer suspension, better brakes, and an aluminum twin spar frame. All the Suzuki is, is a heavier, slower, cheaper knock off.
      Also, 50 lbs lighter and 20 more hp are not just some arbitrary spec sheet numbers. This isn't the difference between a 500hp car and a 625hp car. They will absolutely be felt whether you are on the track or just leisurely riding through some twisties.
      The twins cup is such a stupid point to bring up too. Not only are the bikes homologated, they are also extensively modified. And despite that, the rs660 still dominates because it has by far the nicest chassis of any of bikes in the category. Something you can't modify and something that separates decent bikes from great bikes. Regardless, 99.9% of riders will not be riding twins cup bikes. They're going to be riding stock bikes, bikes with an exhaust and flash, or maybe with new suspension too. In any of those cases you will absolutely feel how much heavier the suzuki is, how much softer and more vague it feels mid corner, and how it runs out of breath at the top end.
      But instead of judging a bike based on factual evidence, let's go by your feelings and racist generalizations about Italians.

    Pretty sure most people want to ride a sportbike on the street and want it to be reasonably comfortable when not ridden hard, not worried so much about it's track limitations.
    Hardcore riders as you may be, you did well to try and analyze it's talents away from the track so no quarrels there, looking forward to your comparison test.
    Where I live it costs the same as a CBR650R, inbetween the CBR's price with and without the E-clutch.
    That would make for an interesting choice, not gonna complain about having as many choices a s possible.

    Respectfully I think you’ve slightly missed the point. Track days & the race rep for the road bikes are a blind alley that now has gone from ruining 600s to infecting “big bikes” & why many went to adventure bikes. INMHO road bikes need to be comfy, grunty , reliable & cheap. Coming from RD50 to 996 via Gsxr’s. I know have a 25yr old VFR800 with Ohlins shock & uprated forks/brakes. I have yet to find it’s limits except on track days. Maybe they had the right idea in the 50’s/60’s big 650 twin that does it all. Try promoting that idea rather than pretending to be Toprak of the A roads. The public can’t wait to ban us don’t give them ammo. BTW I’d love a S1000RR but after a test ride I’ll get a damaged repairable & make a track only bike or a supermoto.

    A soft bike for the soft generation. I understand that the manufacturers are restricted in terms of engine choice by the EU regulations, but that doesn't mean they need to make a soft and heavy bike. An ali frame, adjustable suspension and a better riding position would help massively. I want a modern day RS250. I don't want a fancy dash, rider modes or TC, just a simple rev counter and speedo. Its a shame Suzuki doesn't make a bike for a rider like me anymore. As long as we keep accepting mediocre bikes, that's all the manufacturers will continue to make.

It has more HP than the Yamaha and the Ninja, and a better price point than the triumph and the Aprilia. It can be argued you get the most bang for your buck with this bike. Since you want to spend money just go buy a Ducati and call it a day, since money is not a factor for you.

      @spartanx169x no it doesn't lmfao the suspension isnt adjustable as the yamaha or a rs660, since you dont seem to understand what i mean by adjustable, im referring to more than just preload. This bike does nothing better than any of the bikes in its class. Other than price what does this bike offer thats makes it stand out? The upright ergos? Yea i guess if you're more touring focused, but you'd probably be better off getting a dedicated sport touring bike for that. This bike is for people who want a bike that looks like a sport bike but isnt actually a sport bike since the "sporty" bits are half assed, they didn't even bother putting good tires on it.

      I feel its half assed because it not good at the sportbike half, when the only thing sporty about it is the quickshifter and fairings.
